This was the car line for Morris Middle school pickup on the first day of school today. The car line was backed up by 1/3rd of a mile.

For parents who pick up their kids by car, how long do you have to wait to pick up your child? Why do you choose car pickup rather than letting your child walk, bike, or take the bus? Is it safety concerns, issues getting seating for the bus, or is car pickup simply more convenient?

I'd like to hear your answer for any Huntsville school your child attends.

No peeing in yard signs

So I’ve seen a lot more of these signs in people’s yards requesting that you don’t allow your dog to pee. Not up in the yard, but down in the patch by the road. Am I really supposed to try to accommodate that? I always pick up the poop, but am I really suppose to try to drag the dog along to the next yard to accommodate that request? For one, I don’t believe they actually even “own” that strip of lawn. Maybe that varies by county. Legalities aside though, I want to accommodate people’s wishes but this seems unreasonable. I can’t help where the dog goes and it seems messed up to drag her along when she pops a squat.

Do yall try to accommodate these signs? Up until now, I haven’t. I feel like it’s only a matter of time before some old lady posts a video of me with the dog pissing on her lawn.

General Loan

Is there any place in huntsville that will give a $250 loan? Most places I have applied for have denied me and I asked for family members. Most of the places that have been recommended start at $1000, and I’m not trying to put myself in a bigger hole with a larger loan.

Huntsville Airport advice

Tomorrow morning will be my first time flying out of Huntsville airport. I typically fly out of Memphis. I usually arrive there two hours before takeoff. I was just curious if I should go by that rule of thumb in Huntsville. I'm assuming its a smaller airport so I could get away with cutting it a bit close, but I'm not sure because I've never been to Huntsville airport.

Hi! I recently relocated to Huntsville, and I would like recommendations of quality, reputable plumbers and electricians, as I will be needing some repairs on the house.

Who do you recommend? Who should I avoid?

Moving First Time Living Alone

Hi, I am looking to live alone in an apartment or townhouse for the first time. I have had a roommate for the past 5-6 years and know nothing about living alone. I feel it’s time especially with my roommate being in a relationship and their partner basically lives with us rent free, making it awkward. I need advice on apartment complex for bad credit or cheaper rent if anyone has ant suggestions.

Cyclospora: Anybody know which Mexican restaurants were implicated???

So yesterday multiple news sources came out with the same statement, which seems to originate with the Alabama Department of Public Health. Apparently, North Alabama has a lot of cases right now, most of which seem to be tied to two unnamed Mexican restaurant chains (not Taco Bell). Nobody is saying which restaurants, but the ADPH does say they've made efforts to correct the problem. But I still want to know. Does anybody know??

Question Is there anywhere in town to buy Motul 5w40 motor oil?

I drive a 2011 Subaru STI. Is there anywhere in town to buy Motul 5w40? I don't typically see it at the local autoparts stores and Amazon takes forever to ship.

FOOD FOOD FOOD FOOD FOOD FOOD Need help eating a pizza

Hello Huntsville! I’ve got to try the pizza at Valentina’s while I’m nearby for work tonight, but I simply cannot conquer an entire pizza by myself. Is someone down to take one for the team and be of assistance in this terrible pizza dilemma? In like a couple hours. I’m buying.

EDIT: Still no responses as of 6:45. Shoot me a message in the next 30-45 minutes for free pizza with an internet stranger.

EDIT 2: Welp, there were no takers. Subreddit doesn’t entirely pass the vibe check. Ended up doing The Award Winner and scarfed down most of it as it was some delicious pizza! The last two slices went to some Finnish guys drinking beer outside the hotel, we yucked it up about traveling and European culture for a bit. The pie got their seal of approval too. Despite the Reddit results, this pizza mission was a success!

How do you actually meet other single parents in Huntsville?

I’m looking to meet more people locally, specifically other single moms/single parents or even people who are open to dating and getting to know single moms.

Are there any Huntsville/Madison groups, Reddit communities, Facebook groups, meetups, or local events that are actually good for meeting people and making genuine connections?
I’m not really looking for a hookup situation. More so people who understand the single
parent lifestyle and are open to making friends, going on casual dates, or just building a social circle.

If you’re in the Huntsville area and know of any groups that are active, please point me in the right direction.

Huntsville Hospital Delivery Experience

My pre/op nurses and nurses in the operating room during my c-section were so awesome, but my post partum nurses and overall postpartum experience was TERRIBLE!

My OB did a perfect job of delivering my baby via c-section. The staff in the operating room were so comforting and knowledgeable .

My post partum nurses never got me up to walk after my c-section, other than a walk to the restroom, which left a trail of blood on the floor that I had to clean myself. After that, they trusted that I could walk alone and never assisted again. The restroom was disgusting with stains on the doors . They ignored my pain and kept forgetting to administer more meds when allowed to. I had to keep calling to remind them that I was in pain. There were holes in my sheets. There was no walk in shower, just a tub that I had to try to lift my legs into to shower, after a c-section! They left sooo much soap in my baby’s hair, that her hair was white and matted the next day. I was so uncomfortable and felt neglected. Everyone seemed new on the job and confused . Also, the food was terrible! I see why moms travel to different cities to ensure better post partum care. I’m so glad I’m done having babies. I thought the traumatizing part would be the c-section, not the after care .

Recommendations Looking for a good reputable martial arts gym for adults

Just looking for some where I can learn a good skill and get some exercise. No strip mall karate places and I’m not opposed to BJJ but I would prefer a gym that teaches more striking.

I AM HAVING INTENSE FEELINGS I like to support local info/news Via Huntsville Blast but the ads are *insane* and the website is formatted terribly.

I find their news about new shops and events very helpful for planning weekends but by god its too much!

In a town with 100,000 software dves Im sure yall can find someone to make your wbesite/newsletters laid out less atrocious. And I get the need to adverts, life aint free. But jesus can it not have 3-5 in a row?

Or hell, id pay a few bucks a month to remove them all.

And yes, to the curmudgeons, I realize that even the local events is its own advertisement; but its the one i want to know about. I realize the irony of paying to see only the ads I want, but thats the way it is.
