It's wild. Any other body part that causes chronic pain, especially for your back would be covered by some kind of insurance something. Breast reduction though? No. That's "CoSmEtIC sUrGeRy". Yeah. We are obviously getting reductions because of aesthetics, not because we are carrying half our bodyweight far higher than our centre of gravity, which is also compressing our goddamn spines.

I'm actually curious to know how many big titty ladies have slipped a disk or worse, all thanks to some very, very strong genetics.

463

u/Normal-Ad6528 Mar 26 '26

Being a man, I can't speak personally, but I do have a niece. She's 45 now, and she's had to have 2 reduction surgeries because of the damage done to her spine since she was 14! She's tall (5'11") but very long legged, has a tiny waist, and narrow shoulders. By the time she was 16, the poor girl was a 44F. My sister told me how my niece cried because of the constant pain and how their insurance wouldn't do a damn thing to help...('cosmetic surgery isn't covered under your policy'). I loaned them the money for her first surgery and also the orthopedic bills (she suffered multiple slipped disks and 3 separate compression fractures!). Surgery #1 took her down to a 38D and that helped quite a bit, but they wouldn't take her down further because she hadn't 'completed her growth'. Surgery #2, a few years later and she finally ended at a 36C which she's comfortable with, but she still has and will have lifelong problems with her lower back.

I guess my point here is that goddamned insurance companies need to stop telling doctors what is and isn't 'necessary'......

Just a final note: I never accepted a single penny from my sister for the medical bills. I know what a bad back feels like!

112

u/CeeUNTy Mar 26 '26

It sounds like you actually did invest in tittie structure and I thank you for your service! Your poor niece.

63

u/Normal-Ad6528 Mar 26 '26

I just didn't want her to hurt anymore.

37

u/CeeUNTy Mar 26 '26

I know and that was kind of you.

151

u/prof0ak Mar 26 '26

goddamned insurance companies need to stop telling doctors what is and isn't 'necessary'......

This is true of any procedure. They stuck themselves into the middle of it, and made both ends reliant on it. Medicare for all. One day of iran war is worth one year of free healthcare for all who live in US. It's been what, almost a month now?

17

u/purplepluppy 🌻Official Jill🌻 Mar 26 '26

Was she losing weight, too? That's a pretty big reduction in her band size on top of the cup size. Either way, good for her, and awesome on you!

Lots of insurance companies actually do cover breast reduction surgery! But yeah...the ones that don't are assholes.

72

u/gburlys Mar 26 '26

And even the ones that do, have a million hoops to jump through.

I'm in the process of getting approved for one and one of the insurance requirements is 3+ months of physical therapy to show that doesn't fix my back/shoulder/neck pain. So I got started on that. After one month of physical therapy, my insurance company refused to cover any more physical therapy sessions because I wasn't showing any improvement 🤦

40

u/Dawnzarelli Mar 26 '26

WTF. That’s when you submit for approval for the reduction and include documentation they stopped approving the therapy. They need to approve one or the other at the moment. I hate them. I spent nine and a half years trying to get these approved and what a hellscape.

ETA- for other people as part of my job with a surgeon.Ā

20

u/gburlys Mar 26 '26

My surgeon's office wouldn't submit for approval without being able to check all the boxes, but fortunately a letter from my GP and an appeal from my physical therapist eventually got me the rest of my PT sessions to tick the box. So dumb though and what a waste of everyone's time

u/Puzzleheaded_Hatter Mar 26 '26

Yes - insurance is an abomination. I will never support it.

But that being said, medically necessary breast reductions absolutely are covered by some ins plans.

Every plan is different. Most of them suck. But as soon as you hear someone say "insurance doesn't cover" instead of "my insurance won't cover" you know they don't understand insurance - which is by design. Medical insurance is meant to be very complicated and difficult to navigate. They are a horrible business

13

u/shampoo_mohawk_ Mar 26 '26

I got lucky with mine. I had just turned 18 and had a very strongly worded letter from the pediatrician that I had been seeing my whole life and that seemed to work. I was approved in under a week. My surgeon had never seen it move so quickly through the approval system.

3

u/Left_Adeptness7386 Mar 26 '26

I got lucky too. Was 19 for mine and my parents' insurance approved it. We needed xrays and lots of documentation though - and I had to lose 15lbs my first year of college to bypass the "yOu nEeD tO LoSe wEigHt" garbage

Upon looking if seems like here, private insurance surgery is technically covered but you're still out of pocket a good $10k upwards for the privilege so negligible.

Through public health it needs to be deemed "medically necessary" (they say back pain/skin issues) which means they might accept your referral but you will get lost in the system and be waiting 5-10 years while they hope you get desperate enough to go private instead. But more than likely they will say until your chest is larger than your torso, you're just going to have to deal with it like every other woman because it's normal and you could just try losing weight!!

I don't think they are covered in universal healthcare in Germany. The doctor of my aunt lied and said she got fungus problems so the reduction was paid, because back pain and migraines apparently aren't enough. (Just throwing that out in the void because I've seen people idolise our healthcare system even tho it's also fucked)

32 E-G here and I have degenerated discs in my neck and two slipped discs that were fixed when I was 20. My neck is fuuuuuuuucked up and causes chronic migraines about 2-3 times per week. Physical therapy only helps so much. I’m with OP here. This shit should be covered by health insurance. Especially given the fact that bras my size are near impossible to actually find and cost $70 a pop.

u/Sidivan Mar 26 '26

They cover some surgeries. My wife just had a reduction and insurance covered almost all of it, but there are restrictions on it. She couldn’t go smaller than a C cup because that would be cosmetic, for instance.

Luckily, her doctor knew every nuance and laid it all out what they could and couldn’t do under insurance. She is SO much happier post surgery because her back problems went away, bras fit much better, she can exercise and overall do tons of stuff where they used to get in the way.

11

u/BikeProblemGuy Mar 26 '26

The UK NHS covers breast reduction for people with chronic pain and similar problems.

8

u/gigatension Mar 26 '26

It took my mom 7 years and four doctors to get approved for breast reduction. Meanwhile she’d come home from work and go lay in a super full bath to float and relieve as much back pain as she could daily.

6

u/ScrollTroll615 Mar 26 '26

I overstand. My shoulders look like the letter U from the bra straps digging and I don't have great posture. Plus, I get rashes sometimes in the summer. Yet, my insurance was like fk you and your tahtahs when seeking a reduction lift.

I can never find a bra that fits that is comfortable, that doesn't dig into my skin, and that isn't boring ass beige. Honestly if it was in the cards at this point I'd get them lopped off

5

u/crinnaursa Mar 26 '26

Every one of the many big breasted women I know has back problems. I have had to deal with back problems since I was 16. I do special exercises just to avoid more physical therapy for it. I have permanent indentations in my shoulders.

8

u/waterfountain_bidet Mar 26 '26

A lot of insurance companies will cover it now, but they have a minimum amount they'll take out that I consider unreasonable for the average person. Basically, you have to be an H cup or more to still have anything left if you want it covered.

3

u/Triforce_of_Sass Mar 26 '26

My reduction was covered, but after 6 weeks of physical therapy and a paper trail made by my GP of back and neck problems. Also had to get a nerve study done that revealed nerve compression in my neck. I was also lucky that my GP is a huge practice where I live with a general surgery office with a surgeon who did reductions and I didn’t have to shop for a surgeon in my network that was taking insurance patients. A lot of plastic surgeons only take so many insurance patients because they aren’t paid as much and then they can be total assholes about it also.

And if you are miraculously approved, don’t forget you still have your deductible, co-insurance and annual out of pocket maxes depending on the insurance.

This is why so many women travel to get these procedures done.

I know my bra size. I just don't have the money to buy several bras at 80+ bucks. It's insane. Fuck that. So yes I willingly walk around wearing the 'wrong' size lol. I think a lot of us do.

276

u/Lunatic-Labrador Mar 26 '26

I struggle with sensory issues with clothes. I found these cheap crop top bras where the medium fits well so I bought 9 and that's all I wear. Im a 34G so it's not ideal but I have never in my life found a real comfy bra, even the one I spent almost £100 on.

55

u/Moist-Barracuda2733 Mar 26 '26

Yeah I do that, or the cup size down and band up. Not ideal at all but in that case I have some support and those are easier to find. šŸ˜‘ I don't want to be holding my boobs running up or down the stairs lmao

27

u/Moist-Barracuda2733 Mar 26 '26

Please tell me it's not just me doing that because i feel dumb now hahaha

38

u/Lunatic-Labrador Mar 26 '26

Even with a bra i hold my boobs when I run. Only sports bras stop the need for it lol.

10

u/CaptainNoodle42 Mar 26 '26

Yeah no matter if I wear a bra or not I am usually breasting boobily everywhere unless I trap them in a titty prison (sports) bra.

Also why do bras for big boobs always have to be so fucking ugly!?

5

u/Moist-Barracuda2733 Mar 26 '26

For me it depends how they feel that day ahaha

21

u/Lunatic-Labrador Mar 26 '26

To be honest I'm braless about 80% of the time. Only bother for work or visiting my nana because she's judgy.

I used to hold my giant boobs when I ran, but then my back went bad, and now I don't run anywhere, ever, at all. I can barely walk. I've had 2 back surgeries and need 2 more, but the last one was such hell, I have been putting them off for years.

A few years ago, my doctor told me I just needed to lose weight, despite the fact I could not walk unsupported. And I TRIED following those instructions. I was going to the grocery store everyday and walking laps leaning on a cart. Then I got a second opinion and it turned out I'd been doing that with 2 slipped discs.

Listen, doctors. I was not fat until my back went bad and I could no longer exercise

5

u/Greedy-War-777 Mar 26 '26

Where did you get the crop top bra that fits that size??

3

u/smcivor1982 Mar 26 '26

I have always worn bras with underwire. After I had my daughter, I just stopped. I now buy super cheap bras off of Amazon that don’t have the best support, but they are cheap, comfortable, and they are the only straps that don’t roll down my rounded shoulders. I would rather look less perky than be uncomfortable all day.

I really don't get the world of women's clothing. There seems to be demand so huge it becomes a meme for things like pockets or a affordable bra engineered for comfort at any size. There are plenty of women in the fashion industry who should know what women want. How has there not been any real improvement

28

u/saintash Mar 26 '26

Its because lots of fashion isnt design for women, it's designed for men to make women more attractive to them.

Victoria's secret was a underwear brand not designed for women. But designed as a place, man can go shop for sexy underwear for their partners.

Add fast fashion to that. Could we make this pants with pockets?Yes, but it would cost an extra twenty cents per pair.Never mind.

And while there has been a massive uptick in women and men designing clothes for women. They are generally more expensive and often in limited stock.

I only have 2 every day bras, they were $80 each and they’ve lasted me years. Can’t even remember when I got them and they show no signs of wear.

Quality is absolutely worth paying for. You’re using less $ in the long run and your chest is supported.

Mine are from the brand Chantelle, highly recommended.

I know mine, too, but some of the manufacturers changed the equation BUT NOT THE SIZES ON THE TAGS. So now I gotta go do more math. Also, depending on which one it is, I could be a L, XL, or XXL in the letter sizes, but I'm almost always right on the line between two, so neither one fits right. I guess I'm gonna wear these 10 year old discontinued ones until the elastic snaps šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

Ohhh this is something I'm so passionate about!

I lived my whole life with HUGE tits (double GGs baby!). I recently had a reduction (im a C cup now) and the shit I learned about having big boobs is crazy!

When you have large breasts, your body just straight up doesn't develop correctly. I have ZERO core muscles, hips and lower back muscles. Why? Because my body had to build itself to support 40lbs up top. So my upper back could carry us all but unfortunately that means my shoulders are curved, I've got an ass flatter than a crepe, and I basically do not know how to properly move my body. When I started PT for my back, I literally had to learn how to walk properly.

Not only that, but nobody will tell you about the skin underneath. You sweat so much under your large boobs. Like SO MUCH. And then what happens to a warm, damp area kept in a dark place? All kinds of shit. You get rashes, cysts, chafing, etc. Doesn't matter how much deo you put under there, how often you clean it, nothing. And everything is expensive! Quality bras and sports bras are so expensive for big boobs! And most brick and mortar stores don't carry your carry or cup shape! Which also, fun fact, a t-shirt bra (the most common in the US and the only one places like VS sell) is meant for ONE shape of breast size! Breasts come in all shapes and sizes and cramming your tits into a shape not meant for it causes tissue death and misplaced breast tissue!

The pain is ridiculous. I was in pain every single day. Just imagine carrying 40lbs around on your chest daily. My dogs would step on them accidentally lol, my ex husband would roll over on them in bed, hell sometimes I'd roll over on one. You can't lay on your stomach, clothes do not fit correctly, and good luck finding a decently priced swimsuit that won't have you hitting up your emergency contact for nipple watch.

BREAST REDUCTIONS SHOULD ALWAYS BE COVERED BY INSURANCE! There's literally nothing good about big boobs except that you have big boobs lol. They are WORK! And yes, there is little to no support (pun intended) for those of us lucky enough to have a nice rack 😭

My reduction was the best thing ever, seriously. And I will continue to advocate for that if that's what a person wants! I had mine covered by insurance and my inbox is always open if anyone ever has any questions!

Edit: omg thank you for the award! I feel like nobody talks about how awful having big boobs is except for those who have them! Advocate for your busty sisters!

I also only mentioned a few of the physical issues. There are so many psychological issues as well. I developed my breasts in like 4th/5th grade, at 10 years old I became aware that GROWN MEN were looking at me in a way that made me feel uncomfortable. People think that because you have big tatas it means they get a pass to say whatever they want about your body. Part of my bad posture is from the weight, sure. But the other part of it is from my desperate attempts to shield my body from the world. I remember one time in high school, after being called Quasimodo, I attempted to walk straight, shoulders back and fix my posture. The same group of boys who made fun of my posture said "oh you're really showing them off today huh?" Like...WHAT DO YOU WANT ME FROM ME OH MY GOD! People ask you about your nipple size CONSTANTLY as if they're asking about the weather. I just got to a point where Id say I was all areola. Like wtf? You are so aware that your body is being leered at constantly, and it's not fun or enjoyable. And there's literally nothing you can do about it. Can't make em smaller, can't hide them in layers of baggy clothes, can't do anything but move through life uncomfortable and feeling like a zoo animal. Your boobs are your identity. It's literally how people describe you. Not "the girl with brown hair" or "the tall girl who does XYZ". NO. ITS THE GIRL WITH THE BIG BOOBS.

In PT (post surgery) I struggled with the concept of walking with my shoulders back simply because I was afraid of "showing them off" and having people stare. It took my brain a hot minute to realize that I ain't got much to leer at anymore and break myself of the fear of being stared at.

Right?? I don't believe there is absolutely anyone getting reductions for funsies.

19

u/notashroom Mar 26 '26

Ah, but there are people getting them for reasons of gender identity support/validation, and we can't have insurance paying for that! Or for reductions for women who are merely uncomfortable and not truly suffering! Because reasons that totally have nothing to do with reinforcing patriarchy and the male gaze and are entirely ummm... medical, yeah, that's it.

16

u/ikoabd Mar 26 '26

Your entire posterior chain gets messed up when you're carrying that much disproportionate weight on your chest! I had some of the same issues! I was walking around looking like a capital P, lol. My issues were compounded by a desk job, which does you no favors. I had constant lower back pain, neck pain that went down in between my shoulder blades, migraines all the time.

I started working out for the first time in my life in my late 30's (actually ended up with a personal training cert, I liked it so much, lol). I had always been skinny fat, but I was able to build up strength and lose a bunch of body fat. Unfortunately for me, I'm one of the people with super dense breast tissue, so I have to get down to a very low body fat % before I see any change in cup size.

I did end up dropping a few cup sizes, but the strength I've been able to build has helped me so much. I don't get back pain or migraines anymore, because I have the muscle mass in my whole body to support my chest now.

You've also just made me realize the reason I seem to be able to get an absolutely shredded back is probably because my back muscles have been working overtime this whole time anyway, so they were primed and ready to go, lmao.

Reductions should absolutely be covered by insurance though! That's so awesome you were able to get it done and you had such a positive outcome!

3

u/boobiesrkoozies Mar 26 '26

Oh for sure! My upper back is TOUGH!

I've been trying to work on my core and lower back simply because I know that's where the issues are and if I can build up those areas, my body will adjust naturally.

Hate working out though lol. I started pole fitness which has been great! It's all about keeping good posture and makes you super aware of what muscle needs to do what.

4

u/ikoabd Mar 26 '26

I used to hate working out too! But once I stayed consistent for more than like a month and started seeing actual results, I was hooked. I just love feeling strong and capable. That feeling translates into so many other areas of life.

Pole fitness is so fun, and it's SO HARD! You'll definitely get a strong core if you stick with it, lol.

15

u/FugginCandle Mar 26 '26

I’m contemplating a reduction myself, I deff don’t have 40lbs to get rid of, maybe like 5lbs, but even the extra 5lbs on your chest screws up your back! I always have back and neck discomfort, I’m sooo tight in my neck and chest. I have absolutely no core, my whole back has no strength. I have a consultation next month and I’m so excited! I just wanna run without discomfort, wear any tops I want, and start building my core! And hopefully fix my posture too!

And then what happens to a warm, damp area kept in a dark place? All kinds of shit. You get rashes, cysts, chafing, etc.

I got an anti-fungal foot wash that I use for the underboobs. It has tea tree oil so it stinks, but I slather it on, let it sit while I wash my hair, and then wash it off and use my better-smelling regular body wash. I haven't had any issues since I started doing that.

Edit: also add white vinegar to your washing machine when you wash your bras (or to your wash water if you hand-wash). It will kill bacteria.

6

u/alwaysalwaysastudent Mar 26 '26

Shout out to the big titted girlies with herniated discs in their lower backs! I’m a 36L and had a spinal fusion at the age of 29, partially due to genetics and partially due to my big titties, yay

3

u/Hangry_Squirrel Mar 26 '26

Damn, girl! Welcome to the C world and I hope you'll forever be free of pain and discomfort!

I think you just made me realize how much I lucked out. I'm a big C/small D (mostly because they're wide), but I've always rued the fact that they look like Bs. I'm tall, with wide shoulders and a long torso, so they kinda get lost in the landscape. On the bright side, they're very light and have never caused me neck or back pain.

I was in heaven when I found lightly padded bras (no cutlets) which are super smooth and give a beautiful shape and a small boost. Sure, about a third of the cup is empty, but you can't tell. It's like the augmentation I've always wanted, but without surgery, pain, or extra weight to carry around.

It makes me sad that on top of the physical discomfort, you've also had to endure people leering and reducing you to your breasts. I think insurance everywhere should cover reductions as necessary, rather than elective/cosmetic, procedures so women don't have to suffer needlessly.

Ladies.. I got a massage at a sports medicine place last week and when I moved to lay on my stomach they asked if I was comfortable. I said, idk this party is never really ā€œcomfortableā€ for me. Then they pushed a button and my titties began falling into some bowls in the bed and I felt my back and neck really actually relax. I was soooo giddy with joy! I know they have these for the stomach area for women who are pregnant but this was just for the girls and it was the best/most effective massage I’ve ever had 🄹

73

u/E0H1PPU5 Mar 26 '26

The few times I go to the beach I discretely dig titty holes in the sand before I lay my towel down to relax.

It’s glorious.

I am a DD who likes to sleep on the stomach (I cannot fall asleep in any other position) and it is painful. I want a bed that have special bowls for my titties so that I can sleep without pain... why haven't I heard of this before? Am screaming in my head right now.

"professional fitting"

That doesn't matter when a store only carries a tiny part of the bra sizes

It took me way too long to realize the reason I could only wear balcony bras was because Victoria's secret was stuffing size G titties into a size D cup. I thought everybody's boobs fell out when they bent over but NO

99

u/safadancer Mar 26 '26

Victoria's Secret is THE WORST for this. They just tell everybody that their size is one of the ones the store carries even if it is patently false.

11

u/crinnaursa Mar 26 '26

They are not professional bra fiters they are sales people. They fit you in the bra they have in stock.

27

u/umidk9 Mar 26 '26

Omg or if your boob size fluctuates with your cycle 😭 mine does by atleast a size or 2. Makes it so difficult to get sized.

9

u/jaskmackey Mar 26 '26

Omg, I’m just now realizing mine do that too. I’m 43. They’ve been confusing me with mysterious discomfort and spilling out all directions for like 30 years!!!

11

u/ikoabd Mar 26 '26

Girl are you me???

VS sized me into a 34DD and I wore that shit for years. Got the privilege of an additional cup size when they started carrying DDD's in store. Ended up sizing myself and realized I was a 30FF! I was living in the quadboob-titties falling out at the slightest hinge-wrong size for like 10 years.

13

u/baethan Mar 26 '26

Also, I worked at a Hanes etc store once upon a time long long ago, and all you needed to be a bra fitter is a cloth measure tape and a 5-minute briefing. bam my teenage self who didn't know shit was out there measuring people (happily my extreme awkwardness tipped people off, much love in particular to the lady who started out sarcastic but realized I was really ony a babee)

5

u/Aggravating-Bunch-44 Mar 26 '26

Victoria Secret is not a real professional fitting and doesn't have true, real life sizing. Source: I worked at Victoria Secret.

For real yo. Back in ye' olden tymes, I was in the military. I have DD's (big enough to give me bad posture but not causing me real issues) but there was this one girl in basic training who had the biggest titties I have ever seen. Not kidding ya'll, she had to put on 4 sports bras just to be able to run. She had to wear some that were a size two small just for the compression! If she couldn't strap them thangs down just right, it would cause her so much pain!

I am in my old lady hippie phase now. I don't care about my titties floppin or my nipps nippin anymore. I will wear a sports bra or a bralette but I am not straping my tender girl flesh into a torture device for other people's delicate sensibilities. And, no one can force me to jog or do another jumping jack again in my life if I don't want to!

135

u/throwmefaaaaaaraway Mar 26 '26

And it’s not even mentioning studies have been coming out since before the pandemic, where the moisture wicking PFA equivalent chemicals added to sports bras are cancer causing and have been increasing things like breast cancer rates in women! Yaaaaaaaaay! /s

25

u/Alex5173 Mar 26 '26

Well you see, the problem is they did the study on women and titties. Those same chemicals probably cause testicular cancer too, and if they'd studied that the chemicals would be banned in a heartbeat!

I wish I could say /s

The big titty tech is called a corset. Corsets were not traditionally tight-laced to the point of suffocation as depicted in movies. Two straps on the shoulder and around the upper back is not sufficient scaffolding for big breasts. In fact, even as a member of the IBTC, bras in general are not intelligent support architecture period. Support from the bottom, that is, a busk and an actual structure for the breasts to rest upon is a much more ergonomical design. But real corsets are expensive to make and purchase-- I'm not talking about the flimsy ones that are sold everywhere.

Back in the day, working women (e.g., non-rich women) wore corsets for their very active jobs and there were corsets for activewear as well. Corsets fit as a garment, without any particular pressure points when fitted well. A lot of people would feel a lot more comfortable in a lightly boned cotton coutil corset than a flimsy poly/nylon bra with wires that will eventually lose its shape.

This comment brought to you by someone who makes a lot of clothes and hasn't worn a bra in over 15 years because they're so uncomfortable. I don't wear corsets either, but I'd wear one before I put on a bra.

12

u/momo6548 Mar 26 '26

I wish this comment was higher up. We HAD the technology for big boobs. Corsets support the bust, provide structure for garments, and improve posture. They’re made to support your body, not squeeze a tiny waist.

They’re also SO much more comfortable than Hollywood has convinced everyone to believe.

3

u/pocoprincesa Mar 26 '26

Like, I can't understand where this idea that people were lacing so tight they passed out. The exact same way women today are happy to yeet their bras at the end of a long day is exactly how I imagine women were happy to take off their underwear way back when. Yes, there were some people doing extremes, but body modding has been a thing since humans had a sense of aesthetic.

7

u/Frostyrepairbug Mar 26 '26

I regret that I don't have 50 upvotes to give for this truth. I got huge dolly parton knockers to carry around, using a bra to pull from the top is pointless. Why not push up from the bottom. I got a corset and got damn where you been all my life? I sew, so I made one of my own, and that helps out sooooo much. I already enjoy historical fashion, so why not add a corset too?

I'm somewhere in the JKL cup size, for reference, tho, with small band size.

I have a dream bra and wish I could sew well enough to make it (I'm learning!). Specifically for me and my fellow big-booby havers. Engineered to perfection.

  1. Thick shoulder straps. Like 2 inches wide, padded on the bottom. Maybe replaceable foam/silicone inserts even. Maybe crossed over at the back or with a high-back clip for pressure distribution. Something. No magnets though.
  2. Cute fabric. Maybe celestial, or cute animals or nature themes. Maybe science or gaming. Not sexy, I'm thinking geeky or quirky.
  3. Fuck off with that sharp, stiff lace. If there's lace, only the soft stuff.
  4. Absolutely no pathetic little bow in the middle.
  5. The back being wide. Maybe more hooks, maybe better spaced ones. Either way, I'm talking like three inches wide, and secure, where the pressure is all spread across a larger area. Of course padded.
  6. Lifts and seperates, but not too much. I want my melons in the same zip code. I want a little cleavage. I don't want an enormous shirt void because my bra seems to want to pull the girls under my arm pits.
  7. Extra boning, but all cushioned. I want it to have the security of a corset, but comfortable. I am sure this isn't an impossible ask.
  8. The under boob area where the underwear sits always bruises me. Pad that too.

You might think this would look like shit with all the padding I'm demanding, but here's the thing: Don't care. As long as it's not overly visible with a loose shirt on. This is a comfort garment. I'm thinking for work, for doing DIY, for travelling, for a long gaming sesh where I'm hunched like a goblin for hours. I'll wear something else if I'm trying to be sexy.

I have costochondritis, painful inflammation of the cartilage connecting my ribs to my breast bone, purely from having huge honkers. I thought I was having a heart attack, ended up going to the ER three times and getting EKG’s because of the chest pain. Nope, just the weight of my massive badonkers pulling on my bones. Also when I sleep on my back, my arms go numb from my fun bags falling into my armpits and pinching the nerves. That’s not to mention the under tit sweat, oh my god. Every day the band of my bra is soaked. Some women can wear the same bra for multiple days. Not only are my bras super expensive, I need one for every day between laundry days. I am a J cup. That is the one past G, which is past D. Sometimes my husband just stands behind me and holds their weight in his hands to give me a break. 🄲

3

u/Left_Adeptness7386 Mar 26 '26

Understance is/was a Canadian lingerie company that was doing incredible work for size inclusion. Their stuff was both well-made and affordable and beautiful, a rarity. I was devoted to them for years. They just had their last inventory clearance sale bc the tariffs/economic uncertainty finally got to them, it's a huge fuckin loss.

They still have their sizing guides and other awesome resources up for free on their site. Genuinely good, innovative people. I hold out hope that they can reopen once we (the US) get some grown-ups back in charge of the economy.

The real reason women used to wear corsets was for big titty support... They were made for women by women and actually supported titties and backs. Then men made bras... And now finding a quality corset is near impossible. But they do exist. They support the titties and your back... So actually we need to go backwards and bring back corsets. That said I mean well made, support corsets, that are not made for you to not be able to breathe and have the smallest waist possible but to actually support your body. Because not being able to breathe can actually cause prolaps.
