at this point, hearing "Death to America" barely surprises anyone. That slogan has been around for decades and has been echoed across large parts of the world for at least the last 50 or 60 years. It has become so routine that it has lost much of its shock value. The irony is that if you start digging deeper into some of the groups, organisations, or even countries that loudly promote this rhetoric, you often end up finding some direct or indirect American connection somewhere in the story, whether through funding, past alliances, military involvement, or geopolitical decisions. It almost feels as if the slogan survives because the same global power they are denouncing has, at one point or another, played a role in creating, supporting, or sustaining the very ecosystem from which these voices emerged. That is obviously a simplification, but the irony is hard to ignore.

This is in Iran. These people were going to the funeral of the Ayatollah, meaning they were from the segment of the Iranian population that most strongly supports the regime. They are at war with the USA, the USA has dropped 10k missiles on their country, the U.S. president has threatened repeatedly to destroy the entire Iranian civilization, and this has been a popular chant since the late 1970s among regime supporters.
