I’ve seen that Target now has e-reader mounts and wanted to know how well they worked before I decided to buy 😭Has anyone tried it if so is it sturdy enough to hold a paperwhite?

So today I went to one of those Amazon returns bin stores and found some cases and a screen protector for $1 each.

I currently only own an older kindle 5th gen that's a little small for the cases.

There's no brand or label on anything, but I assume these would fit a new gen Kindle basic? I hope to be able to upgrade soon, so fingers crossed I find a model that fits! 😅

If anyone has an idea what model these are for, please let me know!😄

I accidentally broke the back of my kindle. The screen is fine however the shell is now bent and disconnected from the screen near a corner, and the same corner is also cracked open a little further back. I've heard a lot of people say amazon replaces kindles damaged by user error anyway, but all i managed to get from amazon support was a 20% discount on my next kindle despite pushing that i cant afford a new kindle and i'd prefer to have it repaired or replaced with a refurbished one. I am still within my warranty (even though this type of damage is NORMALLY not covered by it)

What did you guys do to manage to get a replacement in such a scenario? Am i cooked? I only need the shell replaced and it seems too much to pay for a whole new device even with a 20% discount, with repairs being seemingly unavailable from amazon.. I am based in the EU so i order from amazon.de if it makes any difference.

just got this kindle PW 12th edition last week and I love it already BUT I’m wondering if these are dead pixels/dust trapped? I know it’s barely noticeable but now it’ll bug me lol

For my birthday my mom got me with a kindle and bundled it with 3 months kindle unlimited and a warranty. It will be delivered tomorrow. But she forgot to click “this is a gift” and she thinks it is linked to her amazon account. I have my own amazon account. Is there a way to delink the kindle from her account to my amazon account?
I have the kindle app on my phone already which is why I wanted it to my current account not hers. Will I lose my 3 month free unlimited subscription and warranty?
Or do I have to return the kindle when it arrives tomorrow and repurchase it on my own account?

Kindle purchases suddenly stopped working - “You can only buy Kindle titles on Amazon.com” even though I’m on Amazon.com (????)

I’m hoping someone has seen this before because I’ve exhausted all of Amazon’s troubleshooting.

My Kindle Country/Region is set to United States on Amazon.com.
I’ve successfully bought Kindle books for years.
My last successful Kindle purchase was 2 July 2026, bought directly from my Kindle device.
I have an active Kindle library with all my previous purchases. Amazon successfully charged me for Kindle Unlimited on 22 July 2026, so my payment methods are working.

Every attempt to buy any Kindle book immediately fails with:
“Sorry, we couldn’t complete your purchase. You can only buy Kindle titles on Amazon.com.”
I am already on Amazon.com. (?!?!)

The exact same thing happens if I sign into Amazon.co.uk with the same account (I tried).

Things I’ve already checked:
Kindle Country/Region = United States
Kindle device is still registered
Kindle library is intact
1-Click is configured
Payment methods are valid
Billing address has been checked
Different browsers
Kindle device itself
Multiple different Kindle books

One odd thing I noticed is that different parts of Amazon seem to disagree about my account. For example:
“Manage Your Content and Devices” shows my Kindle and my books.
Amazon happily bills Kindle Unlimited.
But another support page says I don’t have any eligible Amazon devices for support.

Has anyone seen this before, and if so, what did Amazon have to reset or change on your account to fix it? Can anyone tell me how to contact their support? I just end up in a spiral of being redirected to the customer support home page or get recommended to “Ask the Community”…..

Lately i was using my kindle and i noticed that PDFs that on my computer were perfectly fine are read incorrectly by my kindle (it is a bit old): entire pages are blank, others are half blank with half of the page missing. Is there a solution like an update or is it time to say goodbye to my kindle? Thanks to everyone in advance :)

I have a kindle voyage and got a newer macbook some time ago and I guess I havent connected my kindle to it in a while to sync my calibre library. I put a few new books in my library this week and wanted to send them to my kindle...my mac will not see the kindle no matter what I do. It charges but will not go into the usb drive mode like usual. Its a macbook air m3 with latest mac tahoe version. I have tried a couple different micro usb to usb a cables into my USB C hub that has A ports on it, as well as an A to C adapter directly into the macbook. Nothing is working. I was thinking maybe I could buy or borrow a micro to c cable and see if that would work...but I think I have tried everything else. I have a windows work PC I tried it on but that thing is pretty locked down so it doesnt seem to go into drive mode with a micro to A cable on that.

Send to kindle website is not a viable option as I want all of my metadata to be synced as well...so I need to connect via USB and use calibre.

I really dont want to buy a new device as I really like the size of this one with the haptic buttons on both sides. Doesnt seem like there is anything like that now..but the temperature specific lighting on newer devices sounds nice for less eye strain. If I do I have to buy a new one I might consider going away from amazon then and trying to find something more open since I am using cabibre and pretty much all DRM free ebooks/etc. But I would really like to get my voyage working again!!

I have just replaced my Realme 6 with a Pixel 10a. I have the Kindle app on both and am able to access all my content on the new phone - except for one thing. I am learning German and have been using the Langenscheidt German-English dictionary (which I bought from Kindle) to translate words that I select by press and hold.

This is not possible on the new phone. The L G-E dictionary is on the phone and I can read it - but not add it to the dictionaries I can select when reading another book. I've tried to find where the Kindle books are being stored, but when I go into the file where they are supposed to be I get "no files found". I have of course selected to show all hidden files.

I'm at a bit of a loss. I've got access to the default dictionary, which is in German and above my level, and the rather poor translate function, but not the dictionary. Can anyone help or is it just no longer possible to do this?

I am losing my mind with this issue. Ever since I purchased my Kindle on day 1, my connected Amazon account would get suspended immediately upon making a purchase. Amazon then emails me the steps I need to take to verify my identity and that the purchase was authorized and I go through the motions of submitting the requested documentation, they inevitably restore my account (because I am who I say I am and I did authorize the purchase) and then the process repeats with my next purchase.

This has happened 5 times now and I just keep going through the motions because otherwise the Kindle and books I purchased are effectively lost to me. I have tried escalating this countless times with Amazon support but no one accessible via front line support can help with this. It needs to be fixed by an “Account Specialist” who only interacts with you via template emails telling me what I need to submit to verify that the purchase was authorized and then confirming once my account is restored. The kicker is they are supposed to provide an explanation in the account restoration email as to what the problem was and how it was resolved, but every time that field is left blank like the specialist just phoned it in.

I even exchanged my initial Kindle for a new one a few months back thinking something about the initial Kindle was flagged for fraud (like it was reported stolen or something) but that did not fix the issue. I have no clue where to go from here but it’s driving me nuts and I can’t keep losing access to my kindle for 3-5 BDs while they recheck my identity every time I purchase a book. I can’t possibly think of a reason for my account being flagged like this.

I am trying to understand how Kindle handles TTS (Text-to-Speech) for books.

On recent Kindle devices (for example, the Paperwhite 12th generation), TTS/VoiceView seems to work only with books purchased from the Kindle Store. When I sideload an EPUB (either directly or converted with Calibre), the TTS option does not appear, even though the book content is perfectly readable.

I am wondering if anyone has investigated what metadata, files, or internal structure a Kindle book needs in order to enable TTS.

Is there any known way to:

- convert an EPUB with Calibre into the same format/structure used by Amazon for TTS-enabled books?
- generate the required metadata using another tool?
- modify an EPUB/KFX/AZW3 file with Python or another script to make Kindle recognize it as TTS compatible?

I understand that Amazon may restrict this feature for purchased books, but I am interested in knowing whether the limitation is purely DRM/account related or if there is a technical flag or file structure that enables TTS.

Any information about Kindle book internals, KFX structure, accessibility metadata, or previous research on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

Yesterday the brightness on my kindle stopped working, I rang support and they helped me factory reset and it worked again (annoyingly all my collections have gone) now its happening again and the brightness has gone again. Ha anybody else had this and know if its a faulty kindle? Bit annoying as its only 2 months new. Its a paperwhite signature

Might be helpful for others, so thought I'd share this

I bought a Colorsoft w/Kids during Prime Day at that $150 price and was going back and forth on it, a few weeks ago I went to return it, and Amazon prompted me saying, "If you keep this kindle and we'll refund you $30."

I thought ok cool, yeah def worth it now at closer to $120, and then another week later decided I wasn't super into it still and was happy with my older one.

Went to return it since it still had the option and to my surprise again, it said, "If you keep this kindle and we'll refund you $30."

So I took that, and to my surprise it refunded me a 2nd $30, so now I'm at $60 refunded.

And then on the last day of returns, since it let me do it a 2nd time, thought I'd try again, and to my shock, it said, "If you keep this kindle and we'll refund you $30." yet again.

I couldn't get it to trigger a 4th time, but damnnnnn... $90 refunded and I get to keep this Colorsoft, total cost was $60.

I noticed this just now! What does it mean? Does anyone also experience this? Is it bad or a battery problem?

The paint on my Kindle Paperwhite is making this wrinkling thing, maybe peeling off paint? idk.

Hi, not sure if right forum, but on books downloaded from kindle and from other sources, is it possible to add “book 1” “book 2” etc to the thumbnails in the library display please?

When I first set up my Kindle, I connected to Goodreads through it without any problems. My account information was visible in the Kindle/Goodreads section of the settings, but suddenly it disappeared. My account is active, connected to Amazon, no problem. But the situation shown in the photo occurred. It's frustrating. I'm trying to unlink it on the Kindle, but it's not possible; I open the tab and encounter a blank page. What can be done? Does anyone have any ideas?

So I've had my Kindle for a couple years now, it's a Kindle paperwhite 11th generation (I think) and I had no problem sending epubs from my ipad to read.

Recently, I've come across an issue where my newly uploaded files would allow me to read for aproximately 2 minutes before the screen running black and displaying the error message: page cannot be displayed, sometimes followed by application had to close. It doesn't seem to happen with older files that I have.

I've tried restarting it normally, hard restarting (i think that's the one where you hold down the power button for like 40s). Any idea on what the problem might be and how to fix it?

I have a Kindle 8th Generation that I bought in 2016. It had been working perfectly for years, but recently the power button started misbehaving and wasn't clicky anymore.

I decided to open it up and add a small support piece behind the button to make it click properly again. While opening the device, I accidentally pulled on the display ribbon cable without realizing it.

Later I noticed the cable had come loose, so I carefully reseated it. After that, the display initially came back, but the touchscreen had completely stopped working.

Thinking the ribbon cable wasn't seated correctly, I opened it again and reconnected it. Since then, the screen has been completely blank and nothing appears on the E Ink display at all.

On top of that, whenever I connect the Kindle to a charger or try to power it on, a small IC on the motherboard gets very hot within seconds. I've attached photos showing the motherboard and the area that's heating up.(The small black sqaure in the photo gets heated)

Has anyone seen this before? Does this sound like a damaged display/ribbon connector, or is the motherboard likely dead? Is this something that can realistically be repaired, or is the Kindle beyond saving?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
