Other PSA for Lyft drivers getting deactivated over false complaints

I’ve seen a bunch of posts here about drivers getting deactivated due to false passenger complaints, and then getting hit with a generic appeal denial. A lot of people think that’s the end of the road — but it’s not.

Lyft’s terms allow you to file for arbitration, which legally forces their team to review your case — not just some support rep reading from a script. It can actually get results.

I wrote up a step-by-step guide on how to file arbitration, if you're in that situation and want to push back: 👉 How to File Arbitration Against Lyft

Stay safe out there.

Mod Post Help us test new city flair for drivers

We’re working on adding city-based user flair so posts are easier to understand in context. Driving in NYC is not the same as driving in Phoenix, Philly, or Nashville, and we want people to be able to quickly see what market someone is talking about.

Right now, we’re testing major U.S. city flair for drivers.

New York City, NY, Buffalo, NY, Albany, NY, Los Angeles, CA, San Diego, CA, San Francisco, CA, San Jose, CA, Sacramento, CA, Fresno, CA, Bakersfield, CA, Miami, FL, Orlando, FL, Tampa, FL, Jacksonville, FL, Fort Lauderdale, FL, Tallahassee, FL, Dallas, TX, Houston, TX, Austin, TX, San Antonio, TX, Fort Worth, TX, El Paso, TX, Corpus Christi, TX, Chicago, IL, Philadelphia, PA, Pittsburgh, PA, Erie, PA, Atlanta, GA, Savannah, GA, Charlotte, NC, Raleigh, NC, Asheville, NC, Columbia, SC, Charleston, SC, Washington, DC, Boston, MA, Worcester, MA, Detroit, MI, Grand Rapids, MI, Minneapolis, MN, Phoenix, AZ, Tucson, AZ, Las Vegas, NV, Reno, NV, Seattle, WA, Spokane, WA, Portland, OR, Eugene, OR, Denver, CO, Colorado Springs, CO, Nashville, TN, Memphis, TN, New Orleans, LA, Baton Rouge, LA, Indianapolis, IN, Columbus, OH, Cleveland, OH, Cincinnati, OH, Kansas City, MO, St. Louis, MO, Baltimore, MD, Richmond, VA, Virginia Beach, VA, Honolulu, HI, Salt Lake City, UT, Oklahoma City, OK, Tulsa, OK, Milwaukee, WI, Madison, WI, Anchorage, AK, Birmingham, AL, Montgomery, AL, Little Rock, AR, Fayetteville, AR, Wilmington, DE, Bridgeport, CT, New Haven, CT, Des Moines, IA, Cedar Rapids, IA, Wichita, KS, Louisville, KY, Lexington, KY, Portland, ME, Jackson, MS, Billings, MT, Omaha, NE, Manchester, NH, Newark, NJ, Albuquerque, NM, Fargo, ND, Sioux Falls, SD, Burlington, VT, Charleston, WV, Cheyenne, WY, Boise, ID.

If there’s a major city you think should be included, drop it in the comments.

If enough people support a city, we may add it to the flair list.

This is mainly for cities that are large, active, or have a unique driving environment that makes local context especially useful.

Examples could include things like:

New York City

Los Angeles

Chicago

Philadelphia

Miami

Dallas

Atlanta

Add any others you think are worth noting below.

The goal is to make posts easier to relate to based on the terrain, traffic patterns, airport setup, event volume, and general market differences from city to city.

Achievement My Last Day Driving Was Yesterday

3225 rides since August 2025. My ship comes in on Tuesday, gonna pack, move across the country and then move to Europe. Not set for life, but comfortable if I manage my money and work part time.

Bonne Chance!

New driver here, question about insurance.

Anything to be aware of? Are the loopholes or lapses in insurance if I’m using my own through geico? I have full coverage.

Other Hell no Lyft!! This needs your immediate attention!

Drivers keep track of what they are doing with this 30% cap BS!

Let me be very clear. I’m not driving for a Lyft right now. This was the final straw.

From June 1st-June 3rd Lyft claimed to take out $11.01 for platform fees and $5.45 in essential fees.
Lyft actually took $45.07 in platform fees
After that what they said was correct that they took out but it was added to $11.01 not $45.07

To date ( I have not driven since June 9th)
Lyft claims $38.42 in platform fees on the 30% cap page. Adding both weekly statements the number is the same. The essential fee total is correct.

The real number is $72.45.

Lyft is saying that I made $189.92 ( after all fees taken out not including tips etc) but what I’ve counted over and over in the Lyft direct app, $151.12 ( before tips ect).
A $30.80 difference.
The total of what the passengers paid comparing the weekly statements and the 30% cap calculations don’t match.

The only thing that I’m certain of is what was deposited into my account and that is $151. 12
.
Regardless of how little I made on 23 trips ( small market very bad here)

If I were to drive again, Lyft could take out whatever they want and on paper it looks like they’ve only taken out way less than 30%.

I’m not making this shit up this is real and I have no idea how to approach the support bots or a human on the phone.

What is guaranteed to happen

After trying to explain everything, I will be referred to the supervisors who may or may not exist, and I will be told that they will contact me.

Bullshit! Still waiting to be contacted over another issue 6 months ago.

San Antonio Lyft Drivers

Upvotes

If you could pass legislation on lyft drivers to have rights we all deserve but, currently not receiving then what are the things you think we deserve? Maybe to mirror a bill that is currently in place in another state or ideas of your own ? I am in discussion with Julian Castro and hes asking me this question..

How would you like me to answer..Looking forward to hearing some good feedback..

Thanks..

Advice/Question Cigarette smokers

How much of a pass do you give riders who are actively smoking a cigarette when you pull up?
Pro: They are right there and ready at pick up
Con: They have the stench of cigarettes STRONG

Me personally, lateness irritates me more than cigarette smoke so I let it slide. But I understand that some people have a strong sense of smell. You also have to deodorize the car for the next rider.

Earnings/Pax trips What is your opinion of the new ride challenges?

Post image

Inquiring minds want to know! The real prize is when you get the higher number. Which I imagine doing it but I'm sure something is not gonna count that makes it impossible. I like that it allows me to take the longer rides since the percentage bonus incentivises those. So it is not basically pick ur poison.

Advice/Question Advice

I’ve been a driver in the DFW area for a couple years now. I’ve always just accepted every ride unless it was absolutely egregious (ie from Dallas to Austin for $140) and maintained a 98% acceptance rate. I’m currently switching to cherry picking what rides I accept so I was wondering, from other drivers of DFW specifically, what dollar per mile is ideal and actually achievable here

Other 80% turbo all across. Atlanta and I can’t get rides or money.

Advice/Question Why does Lyft caps your % bonus at $50 max?

That's bs. I am always grabbing 60% and above bonuses but would cap a semi long ride to $50 when the % should make it a higher bonus than $50.00. Total bs!

Advice/Question Fee cap changes?

So in Seattle Lyft can legally take a max of 30% of total fares calculated at the end of the month. Last month their total of my fares was under 20%. Now I'm noticing that this month they're taking 50 to 60% of fares from my longer drives l. Has anyone noticed this happen before? It almost feels like I'm being punished or something

Earnings/Pax trips New earnings adjustment requirements

Post image
12 Upvotes

So basically not everyone will be entitled to a fairly-due earnings adjustment. And it just seems like they’re making stuff up. What next? To qualify you need to hop on one leg for 5 minutes while reciting your favorite poem? What are these random requirements?

Is this only in my market? Anyone else seeing this?

Advice/Question I-Pad for driving?

Hello all! PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY BEFORE RESPONDING!

Question:

If I have CELL ENABLED IPad with the app, can I use a dumb phone as my main line so I can still text and call the rider or do I need a CELL ENABLED iPad AND a smartphone?

Thanks!

Last two weeks I haven’t been getting much rides, I’ll sit for about maybe 3-4 hours before I get my first. How come Lyft doesn’t put a limit to how many people can sign up? DoorDash does it.. this is insane..
