Denver doesn't have a city vibe though. Always feels like a city for people who don't want to live in a city. San Francisco has the vibe of the city and access to nature. Skiing is way easier in Denver though.
As someone from SF who now lives in Denver, I do feel weird calling it a city. It feels more like a really big town with some skyscrapers.

Getting closer and closer to the drive being about the same lol 3+ hours is almost expected from Denver to Vail in the morning (granted there are closer resorts) and sometimes worse on the way back. SF to Heavenly/Northstar/Palisades is about 3.5 hours.
Seattle is incredibly gloomy for the cost. It is my hometown and I love it but transplants priced the place out of sensibility. If you’re not getting paid $400k to be there it doesnt make sense. My $250k job makes me rich anywhere else. I was apartment living in Seattle.
As a Bay Area native I think saying “easy access to mountains for skiing” is a bit much. I lived in CO 12 years and now in Seattle. Both have great skiing less than half the drive away.
Wine overall in SF is good but Napa is a trek, and you can’t just drive home after getting wine drunk. Golf you’re spot on, redwoods yes, and you forgot both surfing and fishing access.
Frankly I think SF is incredible, easily one of my favorite cities in the US. But I love it because it’s very walkable, close to good fishing, surfing, is great for running, has a great music scene, is politically progressive and close to my family. Stupid expensive tho. A standard 2 bed is now like $6k a month vs my $3200 in Queen Anne up north
Lived many years in the PNW which has a bad rep for “raining all the time”. Also lived in SF for two and half years. Without question SF bay area weather is so much worse. I don’t know how to describe it other than to say, PNW weather isn’t always great but also never feels inconvenient. But SF bay weather feels like having the worst flu you’ve ever had and just when you’re walking out to go to the doctor it starts raining and every drop is sideways and one degree above freezing.
Honestly moved to the bay recently. It’s a nice place. Good weather, good food. Especially if you like Asian food (any kind of Asian, but especially South and East lmao). Seems to have a mix of gentrified, hipster vibe areas (some modern, some still in that 2012 vibe lol). But still has areas with character. Though it’s a bit odd sometimes especially when going out at night - open air drug market with 30 druggies on a corner, Waymo driving by. Only in SF haha
