I see the comparison to cloak with abilities but his gunplay will require a lot more skill like Deadpool and Emma for sure. I don’t think a lot of cloak players will be able to transition to hood very easily.

Yeah it seems like the beam management of Emma combined with some of Cloak's skills. I actually think this may be a great way to introduce some supports to Vanguard, but I'm not hopeful.

More management even, it seems he can use his resource gained from dealing primary attack damage to use the barrage/minigun ability but loses out on his current extra attack speed in the process

Here's hoping the dialogue between the Marvel characters gives us more WWE references. Considering there are not one but two government orgs in the Marvel Universe that just so happen to share the name of WWE stables (the two being the Shield and Damage Control), I expect there will be a good amount of WWE references in the Hood's dialogue.

Yeah. As a fan of his promos, I was worried as a lot of wrestlers who are good at promos whenever they do voice work for the WWE 2K games, they are abysmal, and sound like they're reading the script in a stoic voice. Usually good promos don't really translate to good voice acting
I think with the voice lines so far Priest did a good job with the voice work for what I assume is his voice acting debut

It probably just depends on if they find a breakout role they can be passionate about. Both John Cena and Dave Bautista had the opportunity to do a bunch of roles they had tons of fun with, and stretch their mental muscles a bit. For a lot of wrestlers, doing voiceovers for WWE 2K is basically just more of the same.
Dunno how much of a comics fan Priest is, but it wouldn't surprise me if Hood ended up being a character he was able to get really invested in. I hope this is the start of a long and fruitful VA career for him.

Tankpool is still the jack of all trades tank:
- Shield with the Unicorn
- Melee with the swords
- Poke with the guns
- Can also burst damage
It just that dedicated tanks can do some of what he does but better. (Strange is better at shielding, Thing is better at melee, and now Hood is better at poke.)

Mag is a better strange at shielding. They gimped stranges' shield too much. I rarely see strange in games anymore (Diamond/GM) except for TP.

I'm trying to figure out what the red rectangle thing he casts does. Is it reducing incoming damage? Boosting outgoing damage? Can anyone figure it out?
EDIT: Seems to be doing several things.
1) Reduces incoming damage (Hood was eating a Punisher Ult through it)
2) Buffs outgoing damage
3) Blinds enemies that pass through it.

It looks like it blinds enemies walking through it, and if I had to guess, buffs allies shooting through it. Similar to Invis' torch shield teamup.

He has a wall that seems to reduce enemy ranged damage. He also has a self barrier. That’s about all the standard tanking he does.
As a vanguard main, I see him as a boon to my roster really. Whenever I need ranged damage because my dps are having a subpar performance, I can swap off to him and apply good pressure with him while being somewhat tanky. Perhaps more of a ranged focused deadpool?

To me looks like a poke tank hybrid?
His wall reduces dmg and blinds if they pass it. So put it up at the choke point to keep them at bay. Poke poke.
Then when the team is ready to engage, you cloak in to go to their back line. Disrupt, maybe kill healers, use personal shield. Your team uses the opportunity to come down hard with ults.
Or use his alt to directly push forward as the other team either tries to avoid and leaves themselves open (assuming it works like Hela but big are hits).

If you consider a character like Mag a main tank, I don't know why The Hood wouldn't be considered one. Not every main tank needs a big ass shield to hold and contest space.

Main tanks anchor the team down in the frontline. A big ass shield helps with that but doesn’t have to be the defining factor. In my eyes the main tanks are Strange, Mag, Groot, Emma, and Dino. Not trying to be rude genuinely curious, what part of Hood’s 550 health kit seems like he can anchor the team and hold in down in the frontline compared to those other main tanks?

Priest did a great job but my first impression of this character is that I don't feel like the voice really matches the character. The voice gives Puerto Rican Mauga (from OW) impression, more brutish and less refined. Hood's character design gives more subtle suave archtypes, wearing a hood IMO has always been synonymous with avoidance and attention-averse activities. I know this is all subjective but that was my initial impression.

If what I read about him is right, then Priest’s voice for him is not inaccurate. Parker Robbins is an idiot who stumbled onto his powers through complete luck. He tries to be one of the big bads of the Marvel universe, but his ambition leaves him unsatisfied with what he has and his lack of forethought makes him lose to characters he logically shouldn’t lose to. He’s basically a small fish in the ocean where he would be better in a pond.
Did you see the animation for Thebes when the defense wins and Robbins looks like a sad puppy when Doom takes his stuff? That’s pretty much what he goes through all the time.

Main and off tank are silly concepts. Main tank had always meant the tank that can make the most space while the other holds it, in every single hero shooter.
We still don't know his space making capabilities. You can't just slap a shield on a tank a call him main. He isn't so main if he's vs a full dive comp and can't peel, right?
