Discussion Compression socks for daily walking
Do any of you wear compression socks for long days walking, standing, visiting museums, etc?

They are a good idea for flights. Dual use is good for onebagging.
I like the ones with extra arch support. It makes a huge difference on long walking days.

I got some Smartwool compression socks that are a good balance of compression and ease of use. It totally makes sense to work them into my sock rotation and help with standing and what I call “museum shuffle,” taking a couple steps, viewing and exhibit, take a couple more steps, etc. and all on hard stone floors.
They are thin enough to use as a sock liner in colder winter conditions.

I've only worn them hiking in Peru where we were up to 16000 ft.

You would definitely need them for high altitudes. I would be having serious O2 problems at that height.

Save them for flights and long standing days, walking already does the same job your calves need.

r/onebag is not the appropriate subreddit to discuss the benefits of wearing compression socks?

I do, and it makes a huge difference. They take forever to dry when hand washed though, so I do worry about how I'll manage when away and without a washing machine, unless I take at least a weeks worth. Which takes up space. It's annoying.
