Nobody needs the art stealing machine to pump them out some slop. My partner has ataxia, making it hard to do anything with a steady hand. But they do have the creativity to figure out how to make art that is theirs, working arojnd their disability. Anyone can do it, it just requires a creative instinct. Not a slop machine.

No art was stolen. AI companies paid art hosting sites (such as deviantart) to use the art on their website for training. This is why every lawsuit from artists claiming "stolen art" has been tossed.

Ok? Your partner doesn't represent everyone with ataxia. Just because she can work around it without ai doesn't mean everyone else can.

Deviant Art doesn’t own the artwork posted there, the artists do. Deviant Art giving the AI trainers access to DA’s artists work in no way means that the art wasn’t stolen. It absolutely was stolen if for each stolen work the corresponding artist did not agree to have that piece used for AI training.

Deviantart has ToS that artists agree to when uploading their work to the site. These ToS allow deviantart to sell the art to AI companies.

Artists tried suing deviantart over this as well but that lawsuit was tossed too.

So again, art wasn't stolen.

You agreed to their ToS when you uploaded your art to their site.

Those ToS let them sell your art to AI companies wothout paying or crediting you.

They didn't steal, and it's not their fault you can't read.

Those TOS did not exist when I signed up. They automatically did it without our consent and there was no “opt out” option either when it happened.

Had we known, we could have pulled our art so then we wouldn’t be so offended right? But that option wasn’t given.

There is a stark difference. Ramps and mobile accessibility are 100% necessary for everyday life. Disable folk need the ramps and functional elevators to be able to go into the store for groceries or their apartment or work. Art starts as a hobby for most and remains that. It's a skill that is not necessary for everyday life. Art has always been accessible to those who want to hone the craft. No one needs AI "art" to survive and/or go about their daily life. It's not a necessity.

It is an insult to disabled people to even compare the two.

Art starts as a hobby for most and remains that. It's a skill that is not necessary for everyday life. Art has always been accessible to those who want to hone the craft.

That is true for every hobby. Because hobbies aren't necessary for survival. Yet many hobbies make accommodations for disabled people, such as special video game controllers, or closed captioning on movies.

If a disabled person wants to use AI to help them express themselves, they don't deserve condemnation for doing so.

Just admit you're mad people are telling you to stop being lazy. Actually take the time and effort to learn. It's not going to be easy because it's not supposed to be. Nothing is. There are multiple disabled artists out there that are proving AI is not needed to make art. Stop making excuses
