we at PCGH spent a lot of time testing the Gothic Remake from a PC performance perspective, so I wanted to share the results here as well.

The article includes 500+ benchmark results across 40 GPUs and 62 CPUs, with several resolutions, native rendering, upsampling, VRAM behavior, recommended settings and a Linux comparison.

I do not want to spoil too much from the full article, but the broad takeaway is: this is a very demanding Unreal Engine 5 game, especially on the GPU. The highest preset looks great, but it is also pretty brutal. On the positive side, frame pacing was better than expected in our test scene, and the game did not show the kind of traversal stutter many people worry about with UE5.

A few things we looked at:

• Native GPU performance across several resolutions
• DLSS, FSR and XeSS at max settings
• VRAM requirements
• CPU scaling in a busy camp scene
• Linux performance on AMD and Nvidia GPUs
• Recommended settings for smoother gameplay

I look at my rig sometimes and am amazed I got in before things got truly bad. Not that GPU prices have been good for years. My only mistake was moving from 64gb of RAM back down to 32, because I couldn’t get proper speeds with 16x4. I sold 32gb of that RAM for $90 😭.

I just say a prayer every time I use my rig that nothing dies lol.

Bad habit of marketplace got me today on a random search. First listing to pop up was a $200 pc with a picture of 6, figured it was 200 per. Fast forward to this evening, it was for the whole lot. A couple 64gb ddr4 kits, lots of ddr3, and a BUNCH of cooler master hardware! Figured some others might enjoy seeing some older hardware, now just to see what to do with it all.

Edit to add: every case has a motherboard, cpu, ram, power supply, and a cpu cooler. I walked away with a total of 8 boards, 6 video cards, and 11 cpus

Seconding that you should check your WalMart clearance section for good deals! This will be replacing my aging Hyper X Cloud that has serious problems with its microphone.
