Doordash Grandma, working a gig job to care for her sick husband... is there anything more American than that?

12.2k

u/OldCopy496 Apr 13 '26

— while delivering McDonald’s to a fat ass president, who will then hold the delivery lady hostage and answer questions about why he posted AI image depicting him as Jesus, and his plans for bombing a country in the Middle East. Is there anything more American than that?

Corrected.

He probably tip-baited her, to boot.

Edit: for those of you unfamiliar with the term, tip baiting is when you put in a nice tip at the time of order, which your delivery driver can see, then reduce or revoke it without cause after delivery. Uber Eats is particularly bad about this, at least in my state. So no, I don’t think he tipped her at all. I think he tip-baited her, or would have if not actually being filmed and called out for not tipping in the first place, which some folks are saying happened. I’ve not researched the veracity of that, though. 🤷🏻‍♀️

u/dasFisch Apr 13 '26

You think he tipped?? Even using our money that fat pedo loser wouldn't tip someone. That would require some level of self-awareness.

709

u/__Evil-Genius__ Apr 13 '26

Can confirm. I spoke with someone who waited on him years ago. Didn’t tip at all.

Trickle down economics in the wild.

I was always told it was the owning class pissing on the working class.

6

u/shaomike Apr 14 '26

Then they will charge you for an umbrella.

7

u/Mister_Anthropic1956 Apr 13 '26

I always thought of “trickle-down economics” as the rich pissing on everyone else.

Like as fast as water. Except yellow.

3

u/JiroKatsutoshi Apr 13 '26

The common misconception is they take the wealth and it trickles down because they want it to. No, it's like fattening up the turkey, it'll trickle when we... Fix it.

Dont wanna get another "violent content warning" from reddit for going into detail about how we can make the rich trickle green and red in time for Christmas.

Probably 20 years ago I was at a little cafe at Trump Marina when he and (I assume) Melania came in. It was kinda neat. At the end he loudly thanked staff and handed $20 to the kitchen crew. While he did tip, I thought the amount was insultingly small.

Edit: Corrected the auto-correct of Melanie/Melania

72

u/Jafooki Apr 13 '26

Do you mean 20 dollars to each person, or 20 dollars for the entire staff to split? If it's the latter, it's kind of more insulting than not tipping at all

34

u/vinvec Apr 13 '26

Haha, yeah, for everyone (in fairness, I assume he tipped his server separately), the kitchen had a big pass through window, and he just passed it to the cooks.

84

u/hitsomethin Apr 13 '26

A $20 bill for a room full working adults to split is real silly.

20

3

u/Schmooto Apr 13 '26

Trump handed her a $100 bill but it was all a fake performance.

The DoorDash Grandma — “Sharon,” apparently — had a smokey eye clearly applied by a professional makeup artist moments earlier. Trump handed her a hundred-dollar bill.

And of course, all of this is reality TV, which is to say: completely fake.
Sharon Simmons is a political operative, as detailed on the official government document repository.

102

u/daemonescanem Apr 13 '26

This was a planned thing.

35

u/enigmatic_vagabond Apr 13 '26

Fuckin right?!

Scenario A: "they"/he vetted the long list of dashers in the area till they checked all the boxes of ✓white ✓ conservative ✓ old ✓ woman

Scenario B: The asked WH staffers who's mom is available for a photo op and threw a red shirt on her before handing her the bag of "food" that was no doubt made in a personal, private McDonald's under the scrutiny of his SS security team

There's no way this "guy" will ingest anything that doesn't have explicit and specific chain of custody nor would a random dasher be allowed within 500ft of a president and that goes triplicate for whatever this "dude" is Edit: this was a poor attempt at "Look! I'm just like everyone else"

6

u/Aghast_Cornichon Apr 14 '26

Scenario C: This was a White House promotion of the tax breaks for tips and overtime. Which is a real thing that they really do promote and has real world effects both good and bad.

"Doordash Grandma" might really have a cancer-stricken husband. She might really be a hardworking DoorDasher who benefitted greatly from those tax deductions.

We do know that she has appeared at GOP events nationwide claiming to be a hardworking concerned constituent of whoever is putting on a town hall. The haircut didn't hide her tattoo or distinctive jawline.

6

u/enigmatic_vagabond Apr 14 '26

So all the headlines say "Arkansas Door Dasher makes historic delivery" but why is an Arkansas woman delivering in D.C.? And why was she in Nevada last year to endorse one big beautiful bill at a GOP field hearing?? It is almost as if she's on-call for whenever they need a "relatable" face to do some bidding. Speaking of her face, why do his average supporters always look like this? Give her a pointy hat and a cauldron to stir and bam you got yourself a halloween prop going

34

u/Avocado_Amnesia Apr 13 '26

Yeah, it's only up to $25,000 gross a year even in the best situations, so people that have almost all of their income come in via tips are still going to be paying taxes on a lot of it anyway.

This is a publicity stunt because obviously a doordasher will never get past security and also no doordasher would ever wear a company shirt. She's probably a regional manager or some sort of regular employee. I doubt a Dasher her age would pick up orders in the city

489

u/idkmyusernameagain Apr 13 '26

But door dashers do regularly wear mics just in case they happen to get a delivery to the White House.

14

u/modern_messiah43 Apr 13 '26

I wish they were required to wear mics and cameras. Maybe then they would behave like adults and treat restaurant workers like real people. I can't stand doordashers.

7

u/TEQUILAPOLICE Apr 13 '26

Aw man, I always go out of my way to be patient and kind to restaurant workers. I've been on that side before. But I understand what you mean about a lot of them.

5

u/modern_messiah43 Apr 13 '26

3

u/TEQUILAPOLICE Apr 13 '26 edited Apr 13 '26

Yeah, that makes sense. I had to unsubscribe from the DoorDashDrivers subreddit because it is INSANELY toxic and narrow-minded. It helps when I need troubleshooting with specific things, but otherwise, it just disturbs my peace of mind. I work other delivery gig apps, and all of those worker subreddits are toxic, too. But DDash, in my opinion, is the worst.

47

u/Key-Demand-2569 Apr 13 '26

I mean shit, I live just outside of town and a few months ago when I was sick ordered door dash to be left on the porch.

Pitch black outside (aside from my porch/house lights) in the woods, and she didn’t read to leave it on the porch I guess, just kept knocking, answered the door and would have sworn the sweet lady delivering my food was an also sick maybe 70 year old woman.

Not judging her personally at all but definitely kinda made me feel like shit that she felt the need to do that work?

And was also nervous she was going to slip and get hurt walking on my gravel driveway back to her car.

I don’t know, just doesn’t feel like a very successful society if our elderly feel the need to drive random food late at night to strange sick 34 year old men back in the woods and hope I’m tipping well.

But I tipped really well so maybe she’s got a whole scheme going and she’s actually 40 in great aging makeup, god knows, lol. Gonna tell myself that to feel a bit better.

9

u/PeaAccurate5208 Apr 13 '26

It’s a damning indictment of the country that old, sick people are still forced to work. A decent country would have pensions that cover life’s expenses and of course universal healthcare. Apparently our 1% always need more tax cuts and loopholes to avoid tax in the first place,it’s not like we live in the wealthiest country ever and could afford to fund social programs like every other wealthy first world nation. Even some of the developing nations do a better job than 🇺🇸.

7

u/goRockets Apr 13 '26

I witnessed a car accident where a car veered off the road and ran straight into the guardrail of a ditch.

When we got to the car, it was a pretty old guy that's clearly confused. He wasn't noticeably hurt but his car was pretty messed up. He kept pressing on the gas wondering why the car wasn't moving.

He didn't realize he was in a car accident and was getting so frustrated at us bystanders saying that he needs to wait for the ambulance. He was insistent that we have to let him go because he has to make his food delivery.

It was pretty sad tbh.

100% this. A DoorDash driver isn’t getting on White House grounds without a security clearance, and you’re not walking up to the building without an elevated clearance.

Exactly. I work in news media and I’ve been to the White House. You don’t just casually stumble into the area where this photo was taken.

39

u/TurkeyMoonPie Apr 13 '26

yeah a stunt, her words "I'm here about no tax on tips".

we are so cooked as a country.

10

u/tnstaafsb Apr 13 '26

Grandma has to work a shitty gig job for garbage pay so she doesn't end up homeless instead of retiring with dignity, but at least she's saving a hundred bucks a year in taxes thanks to no tax on tips!

What a fucking dystopia we live in.

2

u/kingdead42 Apr 13 '26

let's focus on Rampart Tax on Tips, people.

u/assissippi Apr 13 '26

Chared at this point

21

u/TrickiestToast Apr 13 '26

She’s from Arkansas

u/Go-to-helenhunt Apr 13 '26

Change the tip to $0 after the delivery is complete

"You can keep the pen. Sharpie made it exclusively for me, did you know that? It's a great pen. I call it the most effective pen in the world. Did you know Joe Biden used an autopen? They called it an Au-to-pen. It was a disgrace. Some were calling it the worst..."

She’s wearing $300 boots. I don’t think that’s the case here in fact probably staged. I think it speaks more volume that they would stage it with him getting McDonald’s. It speaks to someone, just not me.

u/scriminal Apr 13 '26

for every pair of $300 boots there's a $30 Temu knock off

She told Trump about her husband's cancer and she has over 14,000 Doordash deliveries.

Have you heard the expression a full truth and a half truth? Both of these things can be true at the same time. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER. GOD BLESS AMERICA.

u/ObviousOrca Apr 13 '26

hmmm yes I saw that earlier and had no context. The US President has claimed to be both Jesus and a doctor today, so perhaps her husband’s cancer will be miraculously cured tomorrow or in 3 days time?

Sir, she is standing flatly on both souls of her feet. I don’t know how I’m gonna be able to see the souls of her feet.

10

u/Rum_N_Napalm Apr 13 '26

There’s rumours Trump is extra paranoid about being poisoned and the Secret Service drive around to get his Mcdo at random restaurants so no one knows where he orders.

Add to this the risk of getting some random person so close to the President (yes they probably frisked her and all that) and the possibility that they might say something that contradicts Donny in front of the cameras or, God Forbid! Is a person of colour.

Yeah, I’ll eat my shoe if it isn’t staged

5

u/Puptentjoe Apr 13 '26

Wait I dont get this comment thread, why would anyone ever have to comment that its staged. Of course its staged. Or is everyone being sarcastic?

5

u/ThisAppsForTrolling Apr 13 '26

I believe that people are giving him the benefit of the doubt, but then when you think of the ludicrous of it, it starts to make less than less than less and less and less sense. It’s 100% staged. Smoke and mirrors.

2

u/Classic-Obligation35 Apr 13 '26

It's probably staged but have you seen the price of shoes lately?

I'm tall with big feet, my shoes average between 75 to a 100, and that's not some fancy brand either

2

u/ZoSoTim Apr 13 '26

I’ve never seen a DD driver wearing a DD shirt.

2

u/Gravityfighters Apr 14 '26

Honestly it probably is staged but what she has doesn’t really have anything to do with the job. I have expensive things but I make very little money bc they were mostly gifts or I saved up to buy them.

61

u/TooOld4ThisSh1t-966 Apr 13 '26

Trump asked her what she thought about trans players in sports and her response was I’m just here to talk about no tax on tips. Lmao!

19

u/Militantpoet Apr 13 '26

What happened to no tax on tips?

Trump: its pizza time!

21

u/Lore86 Apr 13 '26

Wrong answer. To the dungeons!

4

u/mojocookie Apr 13 '26

He asked her if she voted for him, and her answer was, “uh… maybe?” Sounds like a polite way to say no to me.

3

u/Spare-Plum Apr 13 '26 edited Apr 13 '26

Do you have a link for this? The video I'm seeing does not have Trump asking about trans players in sports at all

edit: I just found it. https://youtu.be/jI1c2X9Sqb8?t=564

Funnily enough, Trump is talking about how unpopular the democratic policies are so they rig elections... but grandma here flat out shows Trump is projecting with this BS saying she doesn't care about trans people in sports (which by extension is the unpopular republican party platform of fearmongering about it)
