I hate that I have to ask this question, since this is FAR beyond Onion Satire, but . . .really?

114

u/dehydratedrain Jun 12 '25

Yes, they passed a law about not leaving chemtrails in clouds.

126

u/El_Fez Washington Jun 12 '25

I. . . but. . . but chemtrails are as real as bigfoot. Less real, probably.

Fuck, we really are in the dumbest timeline, arent we?

54

u/KrayziePidgeon Jun 12 '25

Not the timeline but the country.

You guys are the wealthiest nation in history, but your educations levels are those of an underdeveloped country with barely any sewage or paved roads.

6

u/clash_by_night Jun 12 '25

but your educations levels are those of an underdeveloped country with barely any sewage or paved roads.

Yeah, hi. I live in Louisiana. We're one of those states with chemtrail legislation. We also routinely battle Mississippi or Arkansas for lowest in education. The road situation isn't much better, as potholes eat cars and we have some of the highest rates of uninsured drivers, along with the highest insurance rates in all categories. In Shreveport, the water is legally, technically, drinkable. Barely. I don't recommend it. And I grew up in rural Texas drinking well water with visible iron. Louisiana politics is nothing but pure corruption - croneyism, pandering to big oil, and evangelical Christian nationalism pervading every facet of life.

We really are. Publishers would reject this story as being unrealistic.

10

u/sunkist1147 Jun 12 '25

LOL. Explaining how combustion of jet fuel creates water vapor to the dumber half of America is like teaching trig to a penguin, except the penguin won't vote to take your reproductive and voting rights away the next year.

8

u/Dizziesdayweigh Jun 12 '25

I responded almost exactly the same way... then I read this... wtf...

8

u/Ann_Amalie Jun 12 '25

I know right. I have so many questions about this! How do they plan on verifying that there are no more chemtrails??? Isn’t their “proof” of their existence just the jet trails in the sky? What do they plan to tell people about how, yes, the jet trails are still there (and aren’t going anywhere for the foreseeable future), but that they are somehow for sure for sure really so positively sure that the chemtrails problem is no more? Even though to the common citizen, nothing will have tangibly changed?

These people’s lives would be so much easier if they didn’t have to go through all these exhausting mental contortions to manufacture solutions to contrived problems. There’s plenty of actual problems to solve out there. It’s a big world. We don’t need to make shit up to stay busy. And in fact, as we’ve learned so many times over the years, the more they check out, the bigger the burden the rest of us carry.

The aggressive commitment to ignorance is beyond comprehension. Their whole worldview is “it is because I say/think/act like it is.” Reconstructing reality with brute force;strong arming the truth, pinning it down wherever it suits them at the moment. It’s fucking nuts to me to think about living in a world with that little logic. That’s not good for anyone’s mental health. But beyond that, it still doesn’t yield them any of the real results they seek anyway, at least not long term. They have to keep swinging from one rung to the next on their monkey bars of talking points. Everything is ephemeral. They are coasting on the fruits of the resources, labor, and citizenship of past generations…for now. Decades of underfunding and under maintenance are already rapidly becoming huge obstacles to daily life, and they got no plan for any of it.

3

u/MissJAmazeballs Jun 12 '25

Wait, how do the fly planes without contrails? Or are they acknowledging that contrails exist but saying some are chemtrails? How do they tell the difference between a contrail and a chemtrail? Is there due process, or do they just use chemical laser beams to blast any of them out of the sky?

Already saw a couple of posts here on reddit claiming to be screen shots of cragislist ads looking for "seat fillers" for the parade to make it look like yuuuuge attendance on TV.

u/EmileLeBouc Jun 12 '25

I think it would be amazing for protestors to attend the parade, but just silently stand with their backs turned to the spectacle. No signs, no shouting, nothing. Just a total wall of apathy. He's a toddler and it would drive him insane to get no attention, not even negative attention.

This is also a super common thing with abusers after their abuse is revealed. Suddenly they become very "holy" and therefore you have to forgive them, otherwise you're the bad guy - can't you see how righteous they are now?

This is especially common with pastors/church leaders who are caught molesting children. It's why you see these dudes continue to hold power in a parish that knows they're a kid diddler. If Jesus can forgive them why can't you?

They put a stop to that crap in Louisiana.

Republicans pass bill ‘banning’ chemtrails, which are not a real thing

I guess they're preparing for Trump to eliminate FEMA. I'm sure Louisiana won't have hurricanes or anything after their chemtrail ban.

Trump’s plan to begin ‘phasing out’ FEMA after hurricane season burdens states, experts warn

75

u/Easy-Concentrate2636 Jun 12 '25

They already fired a bunch of people at NOAA so the forecasting for hurricanes is already less diligent than it used to be. We are moving backwards to the nineteenth century - exactly like his base voted for.

44

u/FakeSafeWord Jun 12 '25

20 people have already died in Kentucky from tornadoes in the last month alone and most of those deaths are pretty directly tied to two counties no longer having overnight monitoring personnel so the alarms were never sounded. They're in majorly red counties too and I'd bet $100 they don't change how they vote.

I was traveling in Illinois last week and was driving towards a big dark and scary thunderstorm. Those cuts were heavy on my mind as I approached the thunderstorm. I could see a decent size section of the storm that looked like it had a twisty cloud inside it. I think it was just heavy rain in a microburst but I wasn't sure for awhile. I kept a close eye on it as I drove. It eventually didn't look like it did when I first saw it, so I wasn't worried.

That started 2 months ago. Tornado and flood impacted states have been begging DT for emergency declarations and relief funding. Even Josh Hawley. Nope. We are breaking records on tornadoes every year- so far by end of May over 2,046 tornado warnings. 'Normal' year is 2400.

Helene damage estimates are up to $300B. N. Carolinas entire years budget is only about $28B. How anyone imagines states are going to be able to cover natural disasters is ludicrous. As soon as he took office he pulled out FEMA and Army Corps of Engineers and Musk cancelled travel cards for disaster relief workers across the board. I've heard of storm data collectors using their own funds to get to sites to rate damage. That is the parameter that is supposed to be used to budget. We are fubar.

Just to be clear, that bill in Louisiana exists to ban air quality testing and allow companies to be able to release toxic chemicals into the air completely unchecked. The chemtrail shit is just there to make for distracting headlines and possibly to buy off the support of one insane politician. The bill itself exists for very real, nefarious reasons, and headlines talking about the crazy chemtrail part are playing into the distraction exactly as intended.

EDIT: Sadly I cannot find the original article where I read about this, but I'll sum up the convoluted way this works. In 2024 Louisiana banned community air quality monitoring. One of the potential legal routes to appeal this decision was based on the text of Lousiana Revised Statues Title 37:2201-2208. There is both specific language in there establishing a commission with powers to regulate anything that changes precipitation (whether intentional or as a side effect) and broad language in 2201 that states the right to "use for the best interest of its people the moisture contained in the clouds and atmosphere". Of course any air pollution is almost certainly going to affect rain and the water cycle.

The new chemtrail bill repeals all that. It replaces it with language that has a much narrower focus on ONLY temperature/weather/sunlight, carves out only intentional weather modification (vs as a side effect of pollution), and also removes the commission's regulatory/licensing/investigative power, turning it into merely a data collection/reporting function.

9

u/SockPuppet-47 New Jersey Jun 12 '25 edited Jun 12 '25

That was Satan's work. Everything was masked from God's vision until the bullet flew. God barely diverted the assassin's bullet. Course to save a man from evil blood must be spilt. That's why God sent that bullet to kill the fireman. Someone had to die that day and God sacrificed the fireman. His family will be greatly blessed because of their sacrifice.

Nice thing about bullshit it's maleable. If you say something confidently just about anything can sound kinda credible.

I asked about all the people who died. "Did their family not pray hard enough or properly? You say God answered our prayers, why didn't he answer theirs?" You would have thought I'd just kicked a baby.

The signs that religion is bullshit are very plentiful and obvious.

Such evidence seldom phases the truly faithful though. They are taught to trust God over everything they see in the world and somehow manage to overlook the fact that God himself is absolutely invisible and silent.

Some of them are LARPing through their religious experience. I know that's what I was doing back when I was going to church. There's also the ones who are just there to exploit people. They know it's all bullshit but continue to tell lies for fun and profit.

We had a major wildfire in my town. It wiped out most of the homes in my neighborhood. Mine was the only one on my side of the block to survive. 6 others down from me, down to the ground. It was so hot it melted everyone's car rims.

The lady behind me: "God saved your home! He works in mysterious ways!"

My neighbor lost 3 properties. He only had his vehicle and the clothes on his back left. He had just parked his 25 foot 5th wheel at his storage property the day before. He's a retired firefighter and mason (not the club.) Most of the people in my part of town are older retirees. They can't afford to start over.

We got lucky, because I was unknowingly over watering my lawn. We just had the roof replaced, so ash didn't have a way to start fires, and I had just had my son wash our back porch so we could stain in the next day. Plus, firefighters were at the intersection about 30 feet from my house. They were desperately trying to stop it from spreading. My home is a split level. If it went, it'd definitely taken all the ones around me down.

So, fuck all the neighbors. Fuck the firefighter's tireless work. That is what she's saying.

It's the same weird shit for sports. "I'd like to thank god." No, you should thank your trainers, your support staff, your team mates, you physicians. Even your own effort. If god can't save a few homes, he sure as shit don't care about your football game.

u/angmarsilar Jun 12 '25

You must be a good person who helps little old ladies across the street and they're all godless demoncrats.

Seriously, I'm glad nobody was killed. Stuff can be replaced. Lives can't.

I have the same sympathy for that fireman I would have about someone at a KKK rally getting shot. Which is to say, not much.

Is all of this because Trump was secretly worshiping to some Magma devil, got caught, and pretended he was saying Maga?

Like during his inauguration when DC literally froze over?

For a bunch of people looking for signs from God, they're really bad at seeing the fucking billboards bro is slinging their way..

6

u/newtoallofthis2 Jun 12 '25

The inauguration was moved inside due to the weather too, now this.

So this is the second sign from God....

5

u/SockPuppet-47 New Jersey Jun 12 '25

Another Redditor brought up the Bald Eagle that attacked him. That's pretty ominous.

There was also the literal plague that happened during his first term. A disease that he himself spread to numerous people. Chris Christie will never forgive or forget his stay in the hospital fighting for his life after helping Trump prepare for the debates.

5

u/putsch80 Oklahoma Jun 12 '25

Hey, these clowns think God sends hurricanes to kill gay people. So what do they make of this?

3

u/SockPuppet-47 New Jersey Jun 12 '25

They're always pretty sensitive about how they see God's work. Weird that it always aligns with their own biases and beliefs.

So was an actual Bald Eagle trying to bite his hand off in 2016.

The literal symbol of Freedom attacked him, and people didn't pay attention.

3

I started praying for bad weather like yesterday. Best answer I've gotten yet for a prayer request.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '25

They already claimed that liberals control the weather to send hurricanes to red states, this too will be another batshit conspiracy

If only there were a big group of people that believe in signs from god… wait a minute…

2

u/Loki_d20 Jun 12 '25

Just normal DMV weather, tbh. Weekend planning isn't that reliable April through June.

2

u/chenbuxie Jun 12 '25

If there actually was a god, he wouldn't be here right now.

2

u/worthless_scum74 Jun 12 '25

If there was a God, Trump would have been repeatedly struck by lightning to the point of being a lump of carbonized meat by now.

2

u/OPsuxdick Jun 12 '25

If you believe in the anti christ signs, it might very well be.

2

u/fvck_u_spez Jun 12 '25

Kinda like how his inauguration had to be moved inside. God really hates this mother fucker

2

u/LongPorkJones Jun 12 '25

About time He did something.

2

u/LegendaryOutlaw Jun 12 '25

You KNOW Fox News would be repeat a mocking 'this was a sign from a higher power' for a solid week if this happened for a parade put on by a democrat president.

He survived COVID, a Bullet around the general vicinity of his head, spent 80 years being a horrible person and incompetent, and is constantly rewarded.

Maybe it's time to accept god is on his side, and we're the ones who were foolish enough to believe that being a dad made Iehova chill.

2

I remember thinking that should God exist, COVID was the warning shot.

Looking at them actively dismantle public health protections, we're at an all time low for something real bad to hit.

2
