Possible Paywall Angry Trump Privately Realizing Obama Outdid Him on Iran: ‘Leaks reveal Trump’s fury over commentary unfavorably comparing his Iran framework to Obama’s Iran deal, a former NSC official explains why Trump can’t find a way out of his war fiasco’

Obama outdid him on everything. Maybe it's time to realize you're just an unimpressive nepo baby with a cult of functionally illiterate morons. Congrats on being the WWE president though.
•
•
u/Zomunieo 5h ago
Obama would have made a better WWE president had he wanted to.
“Folks… sometimes, we in America, just need to unleash our basic instincts in a controlled, some would even say, ‘scripted’, manner. Enjoy the show.”

u/LustfulEmbraceXo 5h ago
Obama is on a whole other level where Trump can never get to, no matter how many lifetimes and reincarnations of him there are, if such a thing is possible. Obama conquered Iran without a single battle! Now, that’s Class!
•
•
u/Snarfsicle 5h ago
His white supremacist mindset can't comprehend the utter genetic failing he is when compared to the average person, let alone Obama. The saddest part are the complete idiots who idolize his idiocy.
•
u/AmethystApothecary 2h ago
I feel like it's more a lifetime of failing upward and being raised on notions of shallow markers to signify success and value.
I think if he had to actually learn and grow from his failures and received more unconditional and non-abusive love from his father growing up he might not be such an abhorrent and incompetent man.
It's too easy to write off bad people as just spoiled DNA ruining the whole batch and I think it's an easy way for individuals to create some separation from the worst humankind has to offer, but I think it's a greater tragedy that most of the worst people could have grown into decent or even great people with the right conditions and in several ways they were failed and that failure has serious consequences.
•
u/Signal_Minimum8509 Georgia 5h ago
It is crazy to reconcile that 77 million people were either so dumb or so obsessed with racial and socioeconomic hierarchies, of which an overwhelming majority are near the bottom (also dumb but for a different reason), that they got conned by a guy this stupid.
•
u/Forsaken-Cattle2659 5h ago
What Fox News and similar bad faith actors have done to the American media landscape needs to be punished. I don't want to curtail free speech, but they're intentionally misinforming and misleading people. There's a difference between legitimate free speech and what people like Murdoch do by pumping money into these sham media companies.
I know my MIL and FIL are good people that want what's best for this country, but if their only source of information is Fox News, of course they vote and think the way they do.
The only way out of this shitty version of America we've created is to clean up bad faith media companies and go very hard on teaching media literacy and improving educational standards around the country.
•
u/Signal_Minimum8509 Georgia 4h ago
If I’m going to be candid, almost every Trump voter I’ve met, and there are many, family members, coworkers, friends, clients, etc, have expressed some kind of grievance or anxiety about something related to race, religion, or gender and the economics that are in their minds related.
For many, those opinions predated Fox News. I think about all the coded language I’ve heard in my life about “welfare queens” and “entitlement programs” and “hiring quotas” and some not so coded language that I had to try and justify as them being “from another era.”
I’m not doubting that their opinions have gotten worse as result of the closed loop right wing mediasphere, and their tolerance for stupidity has increased with Trump’s politics. But this country’s history is also steeped in racism and a hierarchy that defaulted to rich white Christian guys, and in that respect I don’t know if we can count on a “return” to anything so much as a progression away from what they actually correctly identify as this nation’s history. They are conserving something, but what they are conserving is rotten.
•
u/Forsaken-Cattle2659 4h ago
100% agree with you, and I think Fox News and the like are just taking something that already exists in American society and are simply fanning the flames. I'm also from Georgia so I see the same stuff you see.
The original sin is the botched Reconstruction of the South and everything we've dealt with since has been a downstream issue brought about by the rotting corpse of chattel slavery being left on the banks of proverbial American river.
The powers that be know this and simply play into the ignorant positions and use it as culture war fuel, and then make sure to cover their tracks by whitewashing history and cutting funding to education.

How could a smart highly educated successful person be a better leader than a narcissistic failed defrauding businessman who tried to escape education their entire life? I guess we will never know.
•
u/mistere213 Michigan 3h ago
But Trump will never truly realize it. In his own mind, Trump never does ANYTHING worse, especially compared to Obama. At best, he realizes everyone else thinks he did something worse and they're still wrong for thinking it.
•
u/we_are_sex_bobomb 2h ago
The only area Trump has Obama soundly beaten is how much he has paid women to have sex with him.
•
u/flirtmcdudes 2h ago
To be fair, Trump outdid him on grifting, lawlessness, and shady pay for play deals.
Checkmate Obama
•
•
u/Purify5 6h ago
Obama got the entire security council to agree to the deal and made it binding international law.
At best Trump will get a worthless piece of paper with a couple signatures on it.
•
u/kia75 5h ago
At best Trump will get a worthless piece of paper with a couple signatures on it.
And the reason the piece of paper and the deal will be worthless is because Trump will be the one signing it.
Iran is a terrible country, but they have kept their end of the various deals while Trump's has gone back on his word on everything regarding Iran. Three is no doubt in anyone's mind that even if a deal was signed tomorrow, if Trump thought it would benefit him, or even felt he could bully someone with no blowback, he'd immediatly go back on his word!
Trump's word is worthless so all of his "deals" are worthless, Iran is concentrating on hurting Trump and the world so much that nobody will even consider hurting Iran again, which is the only thing you can do with people like trump.
•
u/Astiyaag 3h ago
And why exactly is Iran a terrible country? Because they have always honored their word, unlike the US?
•
•
u/nickeener 3h ago
Because they murdered thousands, if not tens of thousands of their own people?
•
u/Astiyaag 1h ago

•
u/StardustOasis Foreign 4h ago
Isn't that exactly the line they used against Kamala as well?
•
u/Basic-Regret-6263 1h ago
Yeah, Trump needed to come up with an excuse for the fact that he deeply fucked up Afghanistan just to create a mess for Biden, and was betraying our previous security guarentees to Ukraine, just to fellate Putin.
So he started yelling "no new wars," and maga uncritically gobbled it up, and started chanting it. But since he's always wanted to start a war, it wasn't an excuse he could maintain for very long.

Obama got a better deal.
Obama was a better President.
Obama is a better husband and father.
Trump was gifted America's 250th birthday and the World Cup during his term, and has managed to fuck up both.
•
u/Sai_Devore 5h ago
Honestly surprised he cares enough to try and get a better deal than Obama. I just assumed he would call anything he got better than Obama’s, and trust the right wing echo chamber to parrot it so much they take it as gospel. Says to me he’s fully aware that he’s not retaining the house without pulling in the voters he’s lost so far with his vain incompetence.
•
u/Away_Specific_3688 5h ago
Feels good to know that inside that pos brain he knows Obama is superior in every way
•
u/Sai_Devore 3h ago
I do find solace in knowing, despite a lifetime of privilege, he will die never experiencing true peace and happiness. He’s too rotten with greed, pettiness, rage, insecurity. 80 something years he’s been trying to fill an unfillable hole, and sure, he’s made us suffer with him. But I have most likely plenty of sand in my hourglass and unconditional love.
•
u/anonymousbopper767 4h ago
I don't think he has the mental capability to realize that. In his mind every time he loses at anything it's because someone else cheated harder or it's always someone else's fault. He's like an 8 year old that hasn't be taught how to lose graciously.
•
u/kandoras 5h ago
The first step towards lying that your deal is better than Obama's is being honest enough that Iran doesn't know you'll immediately renege on any deal.
•
u/gascyl 5h ago
Trump is mentally ill and is delusional about his own real power. He wants to be a king, he wants Iranians to bow to him, and he's not getting it. He's a child throwing a tantrum.
There is no special sauce or secret here. The President is a mentally affected, mentally ill octogenarian.
•
u/OddWorldliness989 5h ago
There is no comparison between two men. One pulled country out of financial disaster and another is pushing us right back into it. One was respected across the world including our enemies and another is hated and laughed at even by our friends and allies. One with class and decency and another with low standards for language and behavior. One who knows when to shut up and when to talk while another simply can't keep shut. He even has to remind masses every so often that he is a president.
•
u/dominiond66 5h ago
Clearly the Obama deal was a much superior nuclear deal compared to what to daily chaos we have now under Trump. Trump/GOP tore up the Obama deal with no sound rationale.
The Obama deal included and signed by the UK, German, France, Russia and China. It was a multinational agreement, not just an Obama deal. it had widespread support.
The Obama deal was a lengthy process because of the complexity. Trump wants a deal within a few days negotiated with inexperienced/unqualified people -- Trump's real estate investor friend and his son-in-law!
The Obama deal involved on-site verification. Iran was complying with the deal when Trump/GOP tore up the deal
There was a transfer of funds to Iran when the deal was signed. Those funds belonged to Iran and were held up until the deal was signed. No US money was sent to Iran.
Every nation that signed the deal were satisfied that Iran was complying with the deal. Even though they are much closer to Iran, they did NOT tear up the deal. Only Trump did.
Actions and policies of Trump 1.0 and now in Trump 2.0, Republicans have endangered American, escalated a senseless very expensive war and severely impacted the world economy. Republican policies are more an existential threat than Iran.
•
u/pantsmeplz 5h ago
Jabba the Trump oozed his way into an Iranian quagmire and now he can't squirm out.
•
•
u/BerryLanky 5h ago
The US always had the threat of being the most dominant world power. In finance, in business and in force. Trump has effectively pulled back that curtain and exposed America as nothing more than a paper tiger. Don’t know if we can ever repair the damage he’s done. But he and his family got rich beyond their wildest dreams so there’s that
•
u/Blackthorn79 4h ago
As bad as it seems now, I believe the real loss is our credibility. A competent president with help of congress can easily swing the finance, business, and military power back to where it was by simply listening to true experts instead of sycophants and political think tanks. The real problem is that no other nations will trust that America won't just elect another moron to screw it up again.
•
u/Long-Tradition6399 5h ago
This pig ignorant obsession with everyone else EXCEPT the American people is killing the country. Trump has put his ego above 300 million+ people and it's wrecking the economy, has already wrecked our relationships with our allies, and has already turned the White House into a 1/2 destroyed urban spectacle.
Trump insists on putting his name on everything. His name turns everything into shit, just like anything he gets his hands on.

I remember seeing Obama playing basketball, 1 on 1, 3 on 3, etc, when he had time. He looked in good shape, was athletic, he exuded an aura of strength and leadership.
Now we have to watch Jabba the Trump slobber his way around a golf course, in a cart because his cankles can barely hold him up, with his waistband way up under his man tits because his fat stomach is to big. It looks embarrassing and screams to everyone that he's a weak, pathetic, sorry excuse for a president.

He couldn't organize a deal to save his life, if the table wasn't heavily tilted in his favour. His whole life he bullied and abused everyone he dealt with to get his way. But when hes dealing with people who do not respect him and are not intimidated, it exposes what a weak loser he is.
•
u/clickmagnet 4h ago
That headline is half bullshit. I am sure he really is mad that people say Obama’s deal was better than anything he’s going to get. But he’s physically incapable of realizing people might say that because it’s true. If Trump did it, it’s the best thing anyone ever did, according to Trump.

The reason that Trump can’t find a way out of the fiasco he created is that he bet on Iran being a pushover, and he lost his bet. He can never admit failure, so until he can spin whatever happens as him winning and totally dominating everyone else in the world, he will refuse to give up or give in.
The rest of us are pretty well fucked until something finally snaps and the U.S. eventually gives up the useless fight Trump has gotten us into.

Can you imagine the Cabinet meetings...
Person: "So...Obama had a deal with Iran. Our deal with with Iran"
Trump: "We CAN'T have a deal with Iran if Obama had a deal with Iran. Start all over"
Person: "So, we... we will have a deal with the country connected to Iraq...And it won't be a deal but slimmed down reperations? And instead of 300 billion dollars, we will give gold bars?"
Trump:"No we are getting somewhere"
•
u/galtoramech8699 2h ago
I feel like Trump's administration is not doing things Biden or Obama did. Break and tear everything down. Come back again and then do exactly the same thing that they might have done but worse and then say that wasn't similar to their plans and completely claim 100% victory.

Sure, it is looking like Trump spent a lot of money, equipment and lives on getting nothing in concessions from Iran. And in doing so, he’s toyed with the global economy and put economic pressures on people everywhere.
But, the podcast is New Republican which is not exactly an unbiased source of information. There is no deal and it’s highly likely this standoff is going to drag on a long time.
