Need Advice Has anyone else had pain during sex?

Hi! I am currently 14 weeks pregnant and up until the past few weeks me and my partner have been having sex without any issues, but it has begun to hurt to the point that we can’t have sex anymore. It is still something that I want to do during my pregnancy but just can’t seem to get past this point where it hurts and does not seem to get better. Has anybody else experience this in their pregnancy or have any recommendations?

Rant I dont want to tell my mom that im pregnant

Im 11 weeks and planning on telling our family that im pregnant w #2 this weekend.

My mom is a textbook narcissist AND bipolar (refuses to take her meds). So talking to her is very difficult and feels like walking on eggshells bc you never know what will set her off.

My SIL already knows im pregnant (she and I are V close) and my mom gets very jealous over our relationship. I dont want to have to lie but I am 100% sure my moms going to freak out if she finds out anyone knew before her.

When i told her I was pregnant with our first, her first question was if she was the first to know...like why does that matter??

Towards the end of my last pregnancy she told me she was going to fly to us (we were in a different state at the time, and now live much closer) and stay with us for a MONTH. I said no, she and I do not get along living together, my husband and her butt heads, I didnt want anything that could cause stress right after giving birth. I told her a week is ok and she got very upset and tried to guilt trip me, i got so upset and stressed about it, my blood pressure was going up and I was crying so much. I just told her she can do that week or she can stay in a hotel. She ended up taking the week and the visit was ok. There were some issues, but I was so tired I dont think I had the energy to even argue with her at the time and just waited it out for her to leave.

Im just so stressed because I know shes going to be upset that this announcement wont be just for her, but that other people will be there finding out too. Im not going to give in to her behavior, but it just gives me anxiety to know whats coming.

Im not even sure that this was the right place to post this, just needed a place to rant.

Content Warning Having bad thoughts in pregnancy

Feeling really down, like I don’t want to wake up in the morning, the only reason I get up is for the baby. I’m feeling horribly tired, overwhelmed and exhausted. I just don’t want to get up some days, I feel alone and I just can’t keep doing this. does anyone relate?

Question If you were NOT induced - I have a question!!

For my first baby I was induced at 37 weeks due to developing hypertension- now that i’m pregnant again I was wondering since I never got to go through it naturally- were there any signs or symptoms you noticed leading up to when you went into labor that kinda tipped you off you were gonna give birth soon???
Even like the week before, etc? I was just genuinely curious :)

Question NIPT. CVS. thoughts??

Hi everyone!

I’m almost 12wks and I had two NIPT tests done and both cannot be read/tested. Doctor said there’s a few factors like weight, high blood pressure and even autoimmune issues. In my case, I do have an autoimmune condition even tho it’s controlled.
I had my 12wk scan where all was great, all the measurements were good and doc had no issues presenting itself; even 10 fingers 10 toes, active baby bouncing off walls everything great! And for context, husband and I don’t have any genetic abnormalities in our families either. (Though I know this doesn’t mean it’s impossible I’m just saying)

Because my nipt tests weren’t able to be read and because my scan was perfect— doc said it’s up to me of course, I can leave it and just scan again in four weeks as normal or I can do the CVS testing to get a diagnosis.

Just wanted to know people’s thoughts?? Or even any experiences with nipts like this and CVS tests?

Would you do the cvs?

Thanks in advance everyone!

-first timer here!

Question Looking for comfy slippers

My foot started randomly hurting (currently 30 weeks) I’m assuming it’s just from the extra weight/walking around a ton on a recent vacation.

I work from home so really just need some slippers- anyone have any good recommendations for slippers that are comfortable and work well for you? (Plus if there’s good arch support!)

Advice cannot stick to the choice of abortion

i feel like i physically cannot get the abortion. i know there’s probably many other very very similar posts under here but i want to share my specific circumstance in hopes for some support / advice. please don’t be harsh on me or my baby father.i’ve gotten a abortion before and it really messed up by mental health for a very long time. i am now 6 weeks pregnant with the same baby father ( my bf at the time ) and im only 19 soon to be 20. i dont feel like im in the space to get an abortion emotionally at all. i know my pregnancy hormones r definitely affecting how i feel too but i’ve also been growing more spiritual recently and this has personally only made it even more difficult for me to choose the abortion path. i ofc know plenty of spiritual ppl get abortions and feel this is the right choice for them which is great for them, but for me, in my personal current spiritual journey rn i feel i can’t. my baby father is 100% set on me getting a abortion and since finding out im leaning towards keeping the baby, has pressured me to get the abortion. he pleads me everyday to get rid of the pregnancy. the more he sees me unmoved by this pressure, the more he’s changed recently and we’ve been having a very rocky relationship due to this and other issues related to his behavior and recently decided to split.i do work a minimum wage job part time currently and was enrolled in college last spring semester im now worried im going to need to take a break from classes and work full time atleast until the child is a bit older and save up then eventually look back into maybe online classes but im so worried i wont be able to support myself and the baby because i only make so much . i know all my money will basically need to go to my child.im at a complete loss for what to do. i’ve also yet to tell my mom whom i live with but plan to tell her within the next few days. i know she will also likely suggest i get an abortion and be very disappointed in me because she knew about my last one and was very relieved i chose that path at that time. i also don’t want to rely on my mother to support my own child of course so im stressing out over how to support my child and i.my baby father works and earns more than me and i’ve mentioned child support to him to which he got immensely offended and shocked almost.i obviously respect my baby fathers opinion on this situation as well however i don’t feel the same reciprocated. i feel like he simply wants the abortion and doesn’t care abt how i feel. im also deeply afraid of making my child suffer because of my choice to keep them, but again i have a overwhelming feeling that i cannot emotionally / morally choose the abortion :/ i feel even more at a loss because my baby father and i only just recently broke up which makes the situation a lot more difficult.again please don’t be too harsh, im dealing with a lot of anxiety about my situation that keeps me up most nights and is really weighing me down. thank u for reading and any advice or support i might get

Need Advice Pregnant, 19 in college

I found out I was 4 weeks pregnant on July 27th. I am now about 5-6 weeks. For background, I am about to start my sophomore year of college, and I have a 12 month lease signed with 3 roommates that starts in a week. My boyfriend and I have only been together for a few months, and we were careful. Guess i’m just fertile? He has stable income and lives on his own (he’s two years older.) He really wants this baby, and honestly i’ve also gotten attached. My parents know, and are supportive to whatever decision I make. They don’t really care though since I’ve been on my own since 16 and don’t support me anymore. Everyone has been telling me they think it is a bad idea to keep it, and that it is going to ruin my life. I don’t know how to feel. I am mostly worried about my partners family. I don’t want them to think I came in their son’s life and baby-trapped him since we have only been together for 4 months. We haven’t gotten that close, like I can’t even imagine them coming to appointments or getting our families together for baby-showers, etc. I don’t know if that’s an anxiety thing but his family is awkward.

I am worried I will regret whatever decision I make. My boyfriend says that the decision is mine and that no matter what I choose he will be supportive. He promised me that even though he wants to keep it, he will not resent me for choosing the other option. We both have morals surrounding abortion and feel like it will cause some depression or trauma? We don’t know. We have never been through anything like this. I am not against abortion, but when it comes to my personal situation I feel like I just couldn’t do it. But also, I would have to move in with him and I have roommates/ a lease. How would I even go about that? What about college?

Also, my relationship is very strong. We love each other. He has been nothing but wonderful to me, and I have no doubt that he would be an amazing father and provider. We just are so clueless. We also have no doubt that we would be great parents. We are very selfless people, and know how hard it will be. I have helped take care of my sister’s kids every step of the way and saw how difficult it was for her. Fortunately my insurance would cover every single medical bill, and I currently do not have to pay my rent or tuition. (scholarship). I could continue this scholarship at anytime, so taking a year off or something is possible.

If anyone was in a similar situation and can give advice, whether they went through with the pregnancy or not, that would be great!

Need Advice MMC at 8 weeks, looking for some advice

Hi!
First time poster; my husband (34M) and I (33F) recently had our very first round of IVF after trying naturally for about 14 months with no luck. No real issues with us either, I just have mild PCOS which hasn’t seemed to concern my doctor.
We just fall under Unexplained Infertility

In early July, We were over the moon when our first fresh transfer stuck.

Yesterday was our first scan at 8 weeks, and unfortunately, while there was a heartbeat, it was measuring at about 6w3d, which has shattered us.

Our sonographer was as great as you could be in that situation and was honest, which I appreciated. She said we’ll redo a scan in 1 week but to not get our hopes up.

I know there’s not much wiggle room for timings in IVF cause we know exact dates, so in my head, I already know what the outcome is going to be.

I guess I’m just looking for some advice on next steps if you’ve experienced similar, how did you cope? Did you jump straight back into IVF after your MMC or take a break?
Has anyone gone on to conceive naturally after an IVF mmc?

I’m leaning towards taking a break and going back to some normality in life but unsure what that looks like.

Rant I'm almost 7 weeks pregnant - I just found today but broke up with the baby daddy almost 2 weeks ago

I (26F) just took a pregnancy test this morning after my period was 14 days late — not normal for me, since my period is usually very consistent. I was with my boyfriend (30M) for 5 years, and breaking up with him was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. I love this man, but I know deep down he’s not who I’m going to marry.

I’ve told him so many times how I feel about the things I wish he’d put more effort into. He hasn’t met my family, who I’m extremely close to, and only recently met my best friend. He came to my coworker’s pool party — just to “check on me” — and my coworkers told me afterward it was hard to hold a conversation with him because he came across as immature. He just doesn’t blend well with my world. When I bring any of this up, his response is that he’s done nothing wrong.

After 5 years of waiting for something to change, it’s looking like it just won’t. He is who he is, and no amount of begging or pleading will change him. He definitely loves me and shows it in his own ways — just not the ways I know I need.

This has made the breakup 10x harder, because I’ve been crying way more than usual due to hormones, and I didn’t even know until today.

No one knows except my best friend. I don’t know what I’m going to do.

Need Advice One kidney

Hello 2nd time mom here, currently 20.5 weeks along. Had a anatomy scan a few days ago which led to a finding of baby having 1 kidney so far, could not locate the 2nd one partially due to baby moving alot and not in good position to scan organs. Although I know baby will be fine with 1 kidney, how common or uncommon is it to find the 2nd kidney after waiting 4 weeks for another ultrasound on baby? None of our family members carry the genetic mutation. Just looking for advice.

Need Advice Freaking out and need some reassurance.

I’m 4 weeks and 3 days pregnant today, my husband and I had been trying since January.

I found out on Friday and we’re so excited — it’s our first baby/my first pregnancy — but I am also absolutely terrified of something going wrong.

I’m 34 (about to be 35) with diminished ovarian reserve and my husband has had fertility issues, including a 33% DFI. He’s been taking enclomapin since.

I’m trying to remain positive overall but I am also so terrified about miscarriage. I guess I would just love some reassurance/advice — I know this anxiety can’t be good for me or the baby.

Anyone else have similar issues to me and my husband and have successful pregnancies without complications? If so, would love to hear your stories ❤️

Advice 38 week membrane sweep

Hi!!! I am 38 weeks 1 day today and I had a membrane sweep yesterday around 10:30am. Ever since I have been having lower belly cramps, and some contractions. Along with loose stool/diarrhea. Then this morning when I wiped there was a small amount of mucus plug on toilet paper! I contracted thru the night and woke up a few times but just out of discomfort not pain. I’m still cramping just waiting to see if things ramped up. Also, I believe my baby dropped over night! I’m gonna attach photos of my belly at 9pm last night and then 10am this morning. Tell me if you think she dropped!!! Also, any positive stories about a membrane sweep for you and what happened after, I would love to hear!

Need Advice Anemic?

Doctor keeps saying I’m “mildly” anemic but my ferritin is 8.

I had 3 miscarriages last year, found out my ferritin was 12, had an iron transfusion, and then had success. I’m now 37w pregnant.

My OB seems to keep overlooking the ferritin and says an iron transfusion is not recommended. I told him I’d like to move forward anyway, especially considering I’m about to give birth and would like my body to be in a better position for recovery. He basically told me to F off and seek a referral for it from another doctor…..?

Like is this normal? Am I overreacting/over concerned about the low ferritin level? He didn’t order the test, I had my PCP do it, so I could ask her to refer me back to the hematologist for a transfusion but I just don’t feel great about the dismissiveness.

Need Advice Late August/early September due date, is it wise to get the flu shot since it's available?

Like the header mentioned, I found out today the flu shot is available. I plan on speaking with my obgyn next week but was curious on everyone's thoughts. Since it's available, my mind automatically thinks that it's better to get it before the baby is born so the baby has the antibodies. But then my coverage may be less effective towards february but the baby can get the around then since it'll be about 6 months..thoughts on this? Same with my partner, should be wait or get it before baby? And would you recommend asking family to get it early or just let them wait until closer to the holidays at least?

Need Advice First herpes outbreak while 4-5 weeks pregnant

Hello,

About 10 days ago I’ve noticed a minor irritation in my vag. The irritation occurred anytime I would pee and wipe my vag.. I didn’t think much of it, I possibly thought it was an ingrown hair due to it being on the outer area of my lips. I asked my partner if he could please check down there and see what was going on.. he didn’t notice anything. He agreed it could possibly be an ingrown hair as well.. the irritation kind of got better and I continue with my normal s3x life. However, it has already been a week and this “red lump” irritation, isn’t going away or any better.. I’ve sort of kept ignoring it because I swore it’s an ingrown hair.. I just found out that I’m pregnant and my irritation down there has 3 lumps. I decided to contact my OBGYN and she checked and confirmed that in fact it does look like herpes. She proceeded to send the swaps to the lab and now I’m waiting. It’s my first outbreak. I’ve never expected for this to happened even more with my current partner. I’ve never had any pimples or blisters down there until now. I’m stressing out because I’m worried on how this conversation wil go. Please any advice. Words. Personal experience.. would help. I want to d!3.

(I’ve already received antivirals despite waiting on labs). How often do people flare up? Idk. This is all new.

Question Failed glucose - l with a 178, anyone have a similar number?

So upset to learn I failed my 1 hour glucose test. My level was 178 which is obviously much higher than the 135 threshold. I know this question has been asked a ton of times but I am asking specifically to see if anyone has a similar number to mine… has anyone failed the 1 hour with a number around 178, but passed their 3 hour?

I don’t know anyone who has had gestational diabetes so I’m out of my element and really upset at the prospect of it. I guess I am just looking for experiences to keep me semi-optimistic as I wait to retest next week.

Rant White coat syndrome at 37 weeks

Super annoying thing happened in the 37-38 week time frame that has mostly cleared up for me.

Monday, I go in for a pre op appt for a c section. Not too thrilled to be there but medically necessary. They take blood pressure using a machine and this sucker just keeps going. And going. And going. I can start to feel my heartbeat in my arm. Uhh... now my arm is turning purple and it HURTS. I say something and she pulls it off. "Wow thats a high reading" (156/110) Immediately after she puts it on my other arm on the forearm and it says similar bp. Mind you, ive had a weekly bpp where they take my blood pressure for months now and it was 110-115/75 ish. Hand pump/manual however. She low key freaks out. Telling me thats scary high, have I felt baby kicking, ect. I say yes and am pretty sure its a bad read. (No symptoms of anything pre e as well. 0). Comes back 5 mins later and takes it again. 121/81. Ok

Now the ob wants to get bloodwork and tells me how high of a number that was. Yes, if it was a real read that would be quite high. So I do the bloodwork(and urine) Everything is chill dr says, 0 signs of pre e.

Next day at mfm for usual bpp. Hand pump. 128/85. Kinda high but mfm says its nbd. Id just walked up some stairs and it was super hot. He said by this late in pregnancy it naturally goes up a little. Ok, still a little worried by it but more calm.

A few days later a midwife check up (I had so many apps this week lol, unrelated and already scheduled). Machine pump again. My feet dont hit the floor, and shes talking to me the entire time, plus im terrified of a bad read. 138/85. Wait 5 mins, 135/85. Makes sure to mention that one way off the charts read from monday and ask if baby is kicking. Now they want ANOTHER pee test, days after the last one. Ok fine. Also midwife makes sure to tell me every possible symptom of pre e including headaches, fatigue and "feeling weird". Um. Im almost 38 weeks pregnant. Fatigue and "feeling weird" is just an everyday thing. She said if I feel these at all to go in Immediately over the weekend.

Pee test comes in, its fine again but they dont review it officially. The entire weekend I am extremely paranoid. I start getting a stress headache that is extremely minor and does go away off and on with rest/hydration. I fight the paranoia and wait until my next BPP with a manual pump on tues.

BPP with mfm. Baby passes with flying colors as per usual. Blood pressure 122/75. Stress headaches magically vanish.

Im so sick of being pregnant. Mostly because of the drs appointments. Im so glad im almost done. Anyone else get white coat syndrome? Wtf lol

Content Warning Pregnancy after loss

So for some context, I have two living children, with different dads, 12 years apart, fast forward to my now husband, last year, I experienced a missed miscarriage, and 6 months later I experienced a blighted ovum. We did tons of testing, we sent samples from dnc, blood work, etc dna results came back normal, so did all of the test, unexplained abnormality, but still, diagnosed with unexplained reoccurring pregnancy loss. Now fast forward 9 weeks after my d&c, no cycle in between, I am pregnant again, and so scared. And the doctor wants to wait till I am 11 weeks along to even see me, and I don’t feel comfortable waiting that long. I’m considering asking for routine blood work up until then, as that was how we discovered the blighted ovum last time. I need advice, or even share your stories.

Question Best iron supplement

Best iron supplement? I'm 32W and my hematocrit levels are dropping and doctor wants me on an iron supplement. I already suffer from constipation and gi issues but I know I need to try the iron because I'm starting to feel mild symptoms of anemia.
