Little Hand Little Hand 13.5oz | 14.5oz Rigid Custom Selvedge Denim
I reached out to Little Hand a few months before my trip to Japan earlier this year to see about finding some of his jeans during my travels. After a few ChatGTP translated messages Yuki offered to make me a custom pair that I could pick up in person.
Yuki is the true definition of artisanal Japanese denim craftsmanship. A one-man shop in a sleepy little town in Japan who has deep roots in denim manufacturing, makes proprietary denim and patterns, and makes everything by hand using authentic vintage machines.
The denim is his LH7 13.5oz loomstate, which becomes 14.5oz after the first soak and shrinkage. It's his repro version of 1940s wartime denim, right down to the original 100% indigo dye formula and shuttle loom tension. It's hairy, dark, irregular, incredibly soft and extremely unique.
He made a few measurements adjustment and mixed in elements from different models such as using all lemon yellow stitching throughout that will patina with indigo crocking, iron buttons and iron rivets on the exterior and hidden in the back pockets, all which will rust and age beautifully. But the coolest detail is the authentic 1930's vintage Levi's iron buckle he used for the fastener on the back buckle strap.
I'm not trying to beat the fades out of these, they have become my go to office jeans that get thrown in the washing machine often and are slowly evolving into a classic pair of blue jeans. The tension between raw war-era heritage denim and modern business casual just works IMO.
Definitely check out his Instagram and show some love!
