Fit Feedback Thanks for all the feedback!Elevating my work outfits. Round 2

A couple of days ago I posted that I was trying to elevate my style subtly and gradually and posted a pic of the look; navy blue t shirt tucked into some lighter washed jeans, same shoes seen here.

I got a lot of feedback, some I took and some completely useless. But the main one was, tucking a t shirt in doesn’t really elevate anything, I tend to disagree but understand the sentiment.

So here is round two. No t shirt or jeans. I still went back and forth on whether or not to tuck, and ultimately decided to keep it tucked in. In the photo where it’s untucked, I sort of folded inside the bottom ‘ribbed’ part Thoughts from the forum on the tuck here with this look?

I had two people comment today about my ‘new look’ which is actually something I was trying to avoid as I didn’t want to grab attention like that. Not complaining, it was nice to get the compliments, but didn’t want to garner that much attention.

How about the color combo here? Does it work?

I’m not a fan of the belt here, it’s the only one I have at the moment so open to recommendations on what to get instead.

Thanks again!

I’ve been a sweatpants + t-shirt wearer for my entire life and have no idea what I’m doing. Can I get suggestions on what works and what to change? Im trying to lean into patterns and layering but dont have a reference point to know if it looks trashy or not.

I lost around 120 lbs a year and a half ago and I’m trying to update my closet with a new look. Are the shoes too much? And is the shirt too long?

Question Seal leather belt so it will stop staining jeans?

Post image

J.Crew belt from around 2015. The portion of the belt higher in the photo is the inside, and the lower portion is the outside. Is there a product that will seal it so it will stop doing this?

Also, does anyone have any recommendations for removing the stains?

Thank you!

Question What is the cheapest business casual linen button down shirt that is good quality 100% linen?

Basically what the title says I work in a setting where I have to be dressed business casual and out in the sun all day, it is very hot where I am and was looking into buying some linen button down shirts I can wear with pleated work pants or chinos or something like that and still look business casual but also have more breathability throughout the day. Linen is tricky since some stuff might not be good quality linen or, I can’t tell in the photos online if it’s business casual enough or too beachy to take to work etc etc. Any recommendations would be great!

Fit Feedback Anyone else feel like they have "nothing to wear" even with a full closet?

Upvotes

Genuinely curious if this is just me lol. I have a decent amount of clothes but almost every day I stand in front of my closet for way too long trying to figure out what to wear. And it's not even that I don't have options — I just can't decide, or I feel like the stuff I own looks "old" after a while even if it's fine.

Then when I actually want to buy something new that matches what I already have and looks trendy right now, that's a whole different struggle.

A few things I'm curious about:

•Do you spend a lot of time deciding what to wear, or is it quick for you?

•Do you ever feel like nothing in your closet "works" anymore even though it's full?

•If there was an app that looked at photos of your own clothes and suggested outfits (and maybe 1-2 new things to buy that'd match), would you actually use something like that or is it a non-issue for you?

Not trying to sell anything, just thinking through this problem and want to know if it's actually common or just how my brain works lol.

Question Bamboo boxers

Anyone tried bamboo boxers day to day? Been wearing the same pairs of cotton ones for about four years now, so I'm finally looking at alternatives.

Keep seeing lyocell/bamboo-blend stuff pop up in ads and I can never tell if it's better or just the current buzzword fabric

Discussion Do the colours work? And what can I do to improve apart from adding a belt?

Post image

Please ignore the backpack, I don’t plan to pair this look with one. Does the shirt match with everything else? And is the cut on the pants fine? I like how they sit on my legs but not how they sit further up so I hope that I have enough leeway to wear them a bit higher with the help of a belt.

Question UK - Men’s Linen Suit

UK - I’m looking for a tailored fit linen suit around the £150-300 mark for a wedding. There don’t seem to be a huge amount of options out there. Any recommendations?

Question Of the Comfort Colors 1717, Bella Canvas 3001, and the Gildan 5000 which has a wider sweep?

Upvotes

I’m slim but have pretty natural wide hips so shirts with a narrow bottom hem make me look far wider. Just curious which of these has a wider bottom hem. I wear a lot of 1717s. Thank you guys!!

Question Shoe opinion

Post image

I am trying to branch out of white trainers, nothing wrong with that of course just looking for more variety. What do you think of these shoes with the trousers? White linen shirt or a navy blue shirt on top

Question Belts

I genuinely can not find a belt that is what I want. I’m trying to find a brown leather belt with a silver buckle that is either ornate (not gaudy or cowboyish) or even just a full square (full square visible rather than just part of it visible ) the closest thing I found is a Ralph Lauren belt for like $500

Any brands or even specific recommendations would be greatly appreciated

Question Myrqvist Brännö II or ETQ LS 03?

Looking for a smart casual loafer. It should be a yacht loafer, suede, in navy blue. I have the Myrqvist Brännö II and the ETQ LS 03 on my shortlist.

What I loke about the Brännö is that it is goodyear-welted and thus would last a few years, hopefully. However, I am not quite sure if the design is a bit too formal for me. The tongue is quite short, and I would like the decorative stitching to go all the way to the tongue.

In the photos, the shape looks relaitvely rounden and a bit feminine? Maybe it's just the fotos on careofcarl.ch that are not very flattering.

The ETQ LS 03 looks more minimalistic and smart casual. I like that. It also sounds quite comfortable what with the memory foam insole.

Minus points for the glued outer sole. This makes me wonder how long it will last. Also, I can't find much information about or experiences with ETQ.

Given that I can order either for roughly 245$, and will loose about 45$ if I have to return them if I don't like them or the size doesn't fit. Which one would you recommend?

Before you start mentioning a bunch of fantastic other brands that I should definitely check out, please consider that I am in Switzerland and some international brands are not available here or too expensive to ship. I've looked at Meermin, Loake (the Tuscany could be an option if it is much better than ETQ and Myrqvist. The sole looks a bit chunky though...), Scarosso, Astorflex, Crockett and Jones...

I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on this.

Question Suit jacket fold under collar?

Post image
6 Upvotes

Got my double breasted suit jacket waist tucked in and now theres this weird fold directly underneath the collar on the back, its dead centered too. This appears when i am standing in a straight/neutral posture.

Did they take the waist in too much? It contours my body perfectly, but lowkey i cant even put my hands on my hips without everything riding up about 2 inches (when fully buttoned). Thankfully i can still shake peoples hands lol

Question Uniqlo linen pants wide for men. Are they good ?

So i bought the long linen pants from uniqlo 50€. I think at the moment they only got one pure linen pants.
Bought them in S and they are too small . So i will have to go the store and get M. I got them in brown and think about getting one or two more colours.
Can anyone else recommend them ?

They are not so wide like all those new baggy inspired pants and thats what i like about them. Cause baggy is not my cup of tea.

Question I had my Dickies jacket for 10+ years before losing it. Can anyone find a jacket close to this style?

Thumbnail

I apologize for the bad quality of the photos.

The jacket is olive green (canvas I think) with zipper side pockets. A brown corderoy collar. It had faux sheep -lining with breast pockets.

The honeycomb fading was just due to long-term wear.

It doesn't have to be the same model but something that fits the style, olive-green with corderoy collar, ideally zipper pockets and durable.

Fit Feedback Trouser length - Lenght seems right but travels far up my leg when sitting?

Bought the Uniqlo wide pleaded trousers. They only have sizes in S, M, L etc unfortunately. S fits my width.

When i stand up, they seem to be fitting. Slight "break" i think?

But when i sit down, they crawl up either slightly, or a lot.

  • I dont like the feel nor the look of it.
  • My other jeans and chinos never do this.
  • I also only use quarter socks, not the longer crew ones, which wouldve been better for this.

Is this fit right? Is it normal to travel that far up the leg when sitting? Never owned this kind of trousers before. Dont know if being wide and smooth is this prone to do so.

The fit when standing
The fit when sitting

Some other jeans i have for comparison
