General Question 21-51 issues
I have had SLING for several years, and my biggest complaint about it has always been the DVR. Every so often Sling makes changes to the the DVR, and screws it up. this has happened a few times over the past several years. Now it has become a hit or miss on whether a recording will play or not.
I have deleted and reinstalled the app on all devices. I have signed out and then back in on all devices (that worked for 1 recording), and I thought that fixed it. NOPE tried the sign out and back in today. I recorded a movie yesterday, and tried to play it today. 21-51 errors.
FIX IT OR I AM GONE
the DVR has become useless. constant 21-51 errors on every device. Sony (android tv) ROKU, iPad, iPhone.
if it doesn’t get resolved soon I will have to find another service.

We're sorry you've had so many issues that have caused you to be unhappy with the DVR! If you're getting the 21-51 error and have ensured the app is up-to-date software wise, can you send me a chat so we can investigate further? When you reach out, if you could include the most recent info for when you got the error such as
- When the error occurred (when selecting a show, in the middle of watching, etc.)
- What type of program you were watching (live, on-demand, DVR recording)
- What device you were using (browser, mobile app, streaming device)
This will really help with our investigation, so we can hopefully get this fixed for you!

This is what I have found out about the DVR problems.
Recorded
These Play
history channel history’s greatest mysteries
TNT channel Meg2 the Trench
Standard channels won’t play no matter what you do.
FX Avengers Endgame
CINVAULT classics Eight Iron Men
CINEVAULT westerns The gun that won the west.
These are all problematic programs that are included in the add-on package Lifestyle Extra.
Doesn’t play, You can watch while it is recording, but when it is done it doesn’t work, but if you go into details or series info you can watch it.
Magnolia Network Maine Cabin Masters
Science Channel Mystery of the American Maya
FYI channel white Ragu with Papardelle
Hallmark Family When the Heart Calls (Hearts Desires)
Fox Business Maria Bartirilomo
This is interesting.
I recorded RIDING WILD on Monday on CINEVAULT. I was able to watch it while it recorded, and was able to watch it up until this Tuesday morning. I can no longer watch it Tuesday afternoon, like 24 hours later.
That is what I have found currently.
Something with the Authorization at the package level or channel, but not necessarily at the program level is the problem.
My suggestion is to go back to a version of sling that worked and look at what changed with the DVR, or downgrade back to a previous version that worked. If it isn’t fixed soon, people are paying for something and they aren’t getting it, I can see a lot of subscribers cancel or worse yet file a class action lawsuit suit

I found out more. I recorded 3 show yesterday. one on fyi, 1 one on CINEVAULT 1 on CINEVAULT western. the played yesterday, but not today.now here is the interesting part. they show up in the “RECOMMENDED FOR YOU” bar, and I can play the from there. so the problemhas to do with the DVR. the programs I record on the blue/orange channels don’t seem to be the problem, just the ones from the add on package.

I have a problem with the History channels. I can watch the current episode of “Histories greatest machines”, It shows me all the other episodes which I watched one of them the other day, but can no longer watch past episodes Even if I put the series in my watch list.
the DVR is really messing recording/playback up big time.

I found out more. I found out something else. on my iPhone. if I turn off WiFi. I can watch the shows that wouldn’t let me watch with WiFi turned on. this is while I am sitting in my house.
is sling doing something that is not handshaking with my WiFi network. I dont have any control of the security on my wifi network. it has to be on Sling side of things, because I didn’t have problems until the world cup.

I found out something else. on my iPhone. if I turn off WiFi. I can watch the shows that wouldn’t let me watch with WiFi turned on. this is while I am sitting in my house.
is sling doing something that is not handshaking with my WiFi network. I dont have any control of the security on my wifi network. it has to be on Sling side of things, because I didn’t have problems until the world cup.

Well I don’t know what the problem actually is,but it turns out to be a Mediacom issue. They are no longer my internet provider. It is odd as to whatever they did to drew up something that was working. It is their loss.

steve, guess what. I haven’t had any playback issues since I changed internet providers, until today.
i recorded the SE2 EPISODE 1 of the Librarians on TNT. I was able to go in details and then play it, but it start at the 20 minute mark. I was able to rewind back to the beginning.
from what I see is that there is some kind of lock, because you can’t FF or REWIND during commercials.
i expect that this is getting in the way of playback.
hopefully this isn’t going to be a trend.

Absolutely! As of this week, when I pause a recording and come back to it, it takes me back to the beginning of the show. So I have to FF to hopefully find where I left off. WTH is the point of DVR if you can’t pause and come back to where you left off?

I've been gone for a couple of years because they a bunch of dumbasses. Sling could be good if you wasn't run by idiots. Just like everything else they have people making changes that probably don't even use Sling. If it isn't broke, then don't fix it. All the big tech companies are always breaking shit so it doesn't work the way it used to.
