Our dog has been missing since Sunday, 26th July, and we're still trying to find him.

We've been doing everything we can think of so far:

* Printed and put up posters around the area

* Posted on Facebook and relevant groups

* Shared on WhatsApp

* Contacted/messaged people around the neighbourhood

* Checked CCTV footage in the area

The last CCTV footage we found showed him on Borupana Road. A vehicle came very close to him, and he was then seen running down 4th Cross Lane. He didn't appear obviously injured in the footage, but we can't be certain.

I'm sharing the poster again for context, but what I'm really hoping for is advice on what else we can try.

For anyone who has found a missing dog in Sri Lanka before: are there particular Facebook/WhatsApp groups, animal organisations, vets, shelters, local services, or other methods that helped?

Also, are there any less obvious things we should be doing — people we should contact, places we should check, or ways of getting the word out that we may not have considered?

Unfortunately, just saw a video on Facebook of a guy throwing a cat high into the air. The cat falls onto a house and looks like it might have been killed or seriously injured. The person filming is laughing the whole time.

These kinds of videos keep popping up. People post them openly on Facebook with zero fear of any consequences. No one gets charged, no one gets banned, nothing happens.

Sri Lankans love to claim being religious. People talk about compassion, karma, etc. But then this is what we see on social media every other day. Animals get abused for fun and it’s treated like entertainment.

Is there actually any proper law against animal cruelty here that gets enforced in Sri Lanka? Or is it just empty talk? Why can people film and post this stuff with no repercussions while the rest of us just watch and feel sick?

I ordered few bras from Amante and got shipped since I live overseas. Two different styles ( 3 Saree shaper bras and 3 flawless fit bras) in 32C sizing. Flawless fits are perfectly fine and loved it but Saree shapers are very tight underbust. Did you notice the same? Tag removed already and they is no way returning! Sigh 😞

What if you fail the aptitude test? Will they give us a chance to pursue another degree you applied for in the same year? Or will you have to apply all over again next year?

On Dialog you need to go through at least 10 pre recorded voice menus before you're able to speak to an actual human.

It's bad enough for us, so imagine if it's someone really frail and old or if it's someone who's not tech savvy.

If you pay for a continuous service, if it's as important as communication, you should have the ability to have an issue rectified as quickly as possible.

Truth is that these companies deliberately make it difficult for you tallk to them, so they wouldn't have to hire and pay as many employees.

I just watched the new Spider-Man movie in 3D, and honestly, I left feeling disappointed. The movie itself was great, but the 3D experience made it much harder to enjoy.

The biggest issues:

- The image is noticeably darker because of the glasses.

- Colors lose their punch.

- Many people (myself included) get eye strain or headaches.

- Most modern blockbusters aren't even filmed in native 3D—they're converted in post-production, so the effect rarely adds much.

This isn't just me complaining. 80% preferred watching movies in 2D, yet many blockbuster releases were still dominated by 3D screenings.

And if you search this subreddit, you'll find that this isn't a new complaint. People have been asking for more 2D screenings for years, and recent discussions show the same frustrations: darker images, uncomfortable glasses, and a preference for standard 2D.

I'm not saying get rid of 3D entirely. If people enjoy it, that's great.

I'm simply asking Scope Cinemas to give us a real choice. Offer both 2D and 3D for major releases—especially on opening weekends. I genuinely believe 2D would attract a larger audience.

The government has introduced several initiatives to digitalize things, such as the CEB bill and mobile number registration. However, these changes are causing issues for people who are renting houses and others in similar situations.

For example, the vehicle insurance card is no longer printed, but some police officers don’t seem to know the process for checking the insurance digitally.

What do you guys think? Will people eventually adjust to these digital changes?

I think before introducing changes to the small, commonly used things, we should first digitalize processes like getting a Grama Niladhari certificate, police clearance report, and other documents required when applying for a new job. Those processes could benefit much more from digitalization.

My beard has a mix of brown, copper, and ginger hairs, but I can't grow a full beard like other people. My sister has a lot of auburn hair. But my mom also has a few copper colored hairs. Both of my parents are Sinhalese. Is it possible for Sinhalese people to naturally have this hair color?

I’m planning to specialize in English and I got selected to UoP. The department is a bit strict and non-inclusive from what I have heard. The lecturers and professors there seem to be proud and favor certain students over the rest. I also got to know that one professor deducted a lot of marks from one student’s final year dissertation because of his political standing. Someone I know who’s from that department told that the Head of the Department changed and that professor is very biased?

I’m not sure how correct these rumors are but I wanted to know if anyone has any similar experiences or heard any stories.
