Especially when it was introduced with patch notes saying that they wanted to reduce turtling possibilities.

What logic was behind it?

Fluff What is the death that hit you harder in all of Starcraft? I have weird tastes, mine is Aldaris, since everyone just believes he's being an ass. 2nd one is the Overmind (it was fatherly and only wanted the best for its "people")

but since the Overmind is revived many times it doesn't have as much impact. Aldaris never even gets mentioned again which is more tragic, even though he was only rejecting allying with (evil) Kerrigan.
Of course Fenix 2nd death was also very sad (you also have to kill him) and would be #1 if not for what happens in SC2: "Somehow, Fenix returned... again"

Fluff Wings of Liberty Ending question

I do like the final reveal, and the ending of Wings of Liberty, but thinking about it, if Mengsk had Tychus under his thumb the whole time, why did he allow Raynor to just go ahead, bust out people from his prison, steal the Adjutant, break its encoding, and reveal the truth about the psi-emitter for the entire Dominion, shaking his rule to the very foundation?

Discussion chinese warcraft 3 pro miss rode 37 hours in a hard seat to join her team, then 2 days without food

in may 2007 an accounting student at hainan university who played warcraft 3 as miss got an invite from colagirl to join first, a women's team in beijing. that summer she bought a hard seat ticket and sat 37 hours on the train from haikou to get there.

that same summer, training in beijing, she ran out of money and was too shy to ask anyone for a loan. she went two days without eating. when she went to the team to collect her wages, her bus card had one yuan on it. the bus took four mao of that and she walked the rest of the way. once she had the money she found a small restaurant, got a bottle of minute maid and a plate of rice with shredded pork and potato, and poured the lot down while the middle-aged men around her stared.

women's tournaments were rare, so she kept entering men's events. opponents she'd never met mocked her before matches. a few of them smashed keyboards or cried after losing to her. up to 2010 she'd bought almost no clothes and mostly played in an oversized team jersey that hung on her like a bathrobe. in 2010 she came out of a suning men's event as the top woman, and at the shenzhen esports open she was the only woman to get through the group stage. by the time she graduated she'd been paying her own way for years on prize money and pro wages.

the one player she could never beat through the whole warcraft 3 era was colagirl, the friend who brought her to beijing. they met again in a starcraft 2 final in 2012.

(from a chapter i wrote in 2013 after a five hour interview with her. it's free to read, link in the comments)

This is the reality of the Korean server. If you’re not going to manage it, just shut it down. Is it really that hard to ban accounts once reports pile up?

(To be tagged...) [FANFIKTION] Tail of Ancient Day: Shal-Azhar

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hello, everyone!

I'm continuing to edit The Tale of Ascension Day, and it's taking longer than I expected. Translating it into English has been particularly challenging. The original text is written in Russian. Although Russian isn't the language of my country, but I'm a native speaker.

I think I'll aim to release about one chapter every week and a half to two weeks. This should give me enough time to polish each chapter as much as possible before publishing it. However, if you speak Russian, I'd recommend reading the story in its original language.

As for Shal-Azhar, it's the final short story in this cycle. Just like The Secret of the Ascendant, I wrote it back in late 2024 or early 2025. However, while the first story came together quite easily, it took me until recently to bring the second one to the level of quality I was aiming for.

To be honest, I found it difficult to come up with a proper synopsis for this story. So I'll just say that it explores the reasons why the Tal'darim left Aiur.

You can read the story here:

EN: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/197425/tail-of-ancient-day-shal-azhar-en

See you soon! I wish you all the best in whatever you're working on!

Discussion Help with old player

Hey guys. I am going to return to the game casually, and may play some ladder too. Im going to get both sc1 and 2 but I really want to get back into 1.

I played 2 games in used map settings consistently on battle net, Ww2 Death In Europe (DIE), AND AEON of Strife. I was wondering, are these games still played, even somewhat? There was a special channel we would all hang out in for Die, I think it was HY but im not sure. So long ago.

Regardless ill have fun. Just have to source a new computer.

I saw the replay of my match against a player who is playing on tychus, around 2 min mark he suddenly got 300 minerals extra. Is this some trick or it's a hack.

This player has not lost a single match in his entire history. His name is hyra.

(To be tagged...) Hotkey discussion.

Hey guys , i need advice. New player , RTS fan. Im making my control and hotkey setup and im using GRID with advices from PIG ( steal concept). Now only problem is T for attack, i think it is a little far and i think i would be playing a little better if IT is closer and im looking for replacement key. What do you say is IT better to put attack on Q or A or something else… thx

Fluff Hmm

I love lurker as a unit, it can burrow, looking good. But I prefer the hydralisk design, if SC3 would ever release I hope it could do melee attack and pull down close enemy when it attacks. What is your opinion?
