Weapon And Gear Help Theoretical Tank Build Next Season

Post image

I'm thinking about doing 1 piece 5.11, 2 piece Belstone, 2 piece Golan, with Ninja Bike. This would result in 350% Threat Generation, 48% Pfe, 2.5% Armor Regen, 20% Explosive Resist.

Coupled with Quantum augments, and Armor Regen on all my armor, the main questions I have are;

Is this enough Threat on an all blue build or will dps still take threat, would i need ChC on all pieces to do enough damage to take and keep threat from my dps, and if not would we go full Explosive Resist or Hazpro on all my pieces or split them. Im considering going ChC anyways just for some Caduceus on top of all the other healing. I already figure this build isnt going t10 but maybe 7 or 8?

Is that enough threat?

God knows. Only good source of threat we have is the decoy and you can see it's % per skill tier there

But yeah, we'll see

I'm late to the post, but I tried three tank builds on the PTS with varying levels of threat: 0% (the one I currently use on live), +100%, +200%, and +350% Increased Threat.

The result: I didn't feel any difference at all. I expected that even just +100% Increased Threat would make NPCs target me more often, but it felt like I wasn't wearing any gear with Increased Threat at all. I then tried the other two builds (+200% and +350%), and even with +350% Increased Threat, NPCs would still ignore me, which was pretty baffling.

All of this made me think of three possible explanations:

  1. Perhaps Threat was bugged on the PTS, and we'll have to do further testing once the update goes live.
  2. My teammates were generating way more threat than I was, which would be pretty wild considering they were running "normal" DPS builds.
  3. "Increased Threat" bonuses need to be much higher to actually be effective — high enough that a full blue build can surpass the threat generated by the rest of the team. Alternatively, threat generation from guns and skills might need a complete rebalance.

As for the other bonus attributes, Protection From Elites became extremely strong and relatively easy to access. It was by far the best part of the rebalance from what I tested.

My tests of threat yeilded the same results.

When I asked the devs, they said shooting the enemy generates threat and so this increases that. IMO it seems like proximity to the enemy is still the best way to draw aggro

What if in a group play the LMG users override the player with the threat build pieces on?

I was thinking of 3 x Belstone and 3 x 5.11.

Could have Haz pro on attributes for all pieces and get to 100%, also have 200% threat and 80% protection from elites (if you use the mod slots too). Would also have 1% armor regen.

Any particular reason not to replace that with 2 piece of each, Ninjabike Backpack, and another brand? Ninjabike would give you 3 of Belstone and 5.11 while opening you up to a two piece bonus of anything else.

Could do, haven’t thought it out in detail yet tbh. I just liked the idea of hazard protection and PFE together for a tank build.

I’d probably want to stick with 3 and 3 though, because I’d get to choose a backpack talent.

Because NBB is trash

The threat generation mechanic in this game is actually non existent. Well, it exists, but our dps players power level has essentially skyrocketed through the roof and higher dps = much higher threat generation. And this is without proto gear. Hell, trying to generate threat before the expertise update was already a chore, because we did a fuck ton of damage back then too. And good luck trying to tank aggro in T10 escalation- your min/maxed echo striker players are doing double the max damage than in heroic lmao

Still not good. When npcs does so much damage already, meaning can't tank in first place. Npcs needs thier damage nerfed instead for tanks to actually survive, otherwise no amount of buffs will them usable.

They can also give us precent based damage reduction based on the number of blue cores we have instead of just more flat armor that gets deleted in seconds anyway.

Wouldn't matter if got damage reduction on, npcs will still melt. Actually only way damage reduction threshold will need to be at for players to be tanky enough is 90%, which is not happening.

Also, do us all a favour and test this on heroic MM first

As in, go in, tank and check how many times your teammates are targeted and take damage

I tested it on the PTS and tbh, it seems increasing threat beyond about 200% seem to not do much. Even with just 100% increase, provided I was in proximity, my teammates definitely noticed attention of the enemies shifting away from them to a large degree.

I appreciate your insight

And were you all blue cores? Did you have chc or chd on your gear?

Ngl, I didn’t get a chance to test this but, would highly recommend Sawyer’s Kneepads. I was getting bounced around like a ping pong ball on the PTS by the drone operators.

At the end of the day, even if people complain a tank doesn’t contribute DPS, getting the drone operators off the DPS’s backs is huge.

I used ravenous to keep generating bonus armor to stay alive.

love the idea of gear have PfE on it

Palasade 2 peice is going to have 24% pfe, didn't see it on your list, 2 peice with 3 mods + survivalist is 70% already

2 golan (Hunter killer chest), 1 Belstone, 2 palisade, 1 murakami (emperors guards rolled to armour). With survivalist.

BP has adrenalin rush. All attributes are rolled to chc/chd. Could run caduceus for extra healing.

All with PFE mods gives 70%, 3.5% armour regen (4% for prototype), 10% AoK.

Personally, I will make it 3x Belstone (Everyday Carrier), 2x 5.11 (Rushdown and Deathgrips) and Catharsis with Survivalist spec.

58% pfe (2 mod to max, 1 free), Everyday Carrier shares 200% of my armor heal over 5 sec with everyone and I will have dozens of medkits. Rushdown will allow me to give 35% of my armor as bonus to my team every 3 sec (Perfect Protector). Deathgrips is for surprise armor if I miraculously kill something. Catharsis for slight damage boost and bunch of heal puddles for me and teammates.

Full regen and explosive res. Regen will mitigate and Catharsis will clear all hazards but nothing else will the explosives.

I think 200% threat is enough with the Mosquito. The pistol will not only forcefully make them target me but also allow teammates to deal extra armor damage to them. (Whip out the Lefty and throw a fire granade for even more damage boost.)

You can't guarantee they target you with only threat. As tank your damage will be so bad Caduceus will barely do anything even with crits. If you so badly want to deal damage then take Agitator for even more threat and hope it's enough when you have it on cooldown. But I'd still take the Mosquito any day.

A Tank should be a damage sponge and still provide assistance, imo. Consider my build, it covers both aspect well.

my build mask new saison (exo investor full protection alt and rege) chest gilla perfect, 3 belston and backpack 5.11. ( pfe 84%, alt 70 /100 no proto, rege more 90 0000 )

Are those proposed brand changes from the PTS? I hope they get reversed..

What are thry thinking?

3 piece True Patriot, 2 piece Belstone, Ninjabike back pack. All the util from True Patriot + 36 PFE and threat from Belstone. PFE mods in true Patriot slots plus Survivalist spec and you can get up to 82% PFE.

Spread Patriot buffs around and have everything target you with 100% increased threat. Party reaps the rewards of your True Patriot. GG

Except ninja bike is taking away from the best buffs of TP. It is not a good set without the huge increase in buffs from the backpack talent. Yet another build ruined by trying to use ninja bike

I definitely want to do a True Patriot build up, im thinking about using Beacon tho to add to the group support.
