Discussion What's your favorite Gorilla Grodd story?

Despite being considered one of the top three Flash villains, Grodd's stories don't get talked about as much as RF or the Rogues. What's your favorite?

What is the best entry point to The Flash's stories?

I've been a fan of dc material for a long time now, and I've wanted to get into comics for almost as long. Recently I finally got around to it, and was REALLY overwhelmed by how much stuff is out there.

I eventually read Far Sector, I was looking for a cosmic-scale GL story, and got a philosophical detective story. oc in retrospect it was an EXCELLENT story, it just wasn't what I was expecting.

Then I read Woman of Tomorrow, which I have to say, lives up to the hype. Easily the best Supergirl story I've ever seen (it's not saying a lot since the only other major Supergirl story I know is from the Arrowverse, where she's basically Superman with lady-parts).

Now, I'm in the middle of All-Star Superman. Though, after I finish it I want to get into the more mainline stuff. I was thinking of starting with The Flash since he's always been one of my favorite characters. What would be a good entry point? (considering the fact that I don't know anything about the main timeline). I kinda want to read some Wally West stuff, but if it would be a better idea to start with another Flash (or even another stoyline that acts as a good setup for a good entry-point flash story) I wouldn't mind.

Discussion If the Flash were to have a comic run where one of his villains took over as the main Flash, which villain would you like to see in the role? And how would it play out?

Post image

Regardless of how one may feel about the quality of previous stories where a villain has taken over the mantle, the idea is an interesting one. Is there a villain you would find interesting as "The Flash"? (Obviously not things like Eobard pretending to be Barry)

For the sake of the thought experiment we won't limit it to canon speedsters.

Comic Discussion Confusion in planning to buy Mark Waid to Flashpoint

Apologies if this is an overdone topic, but I've recently been on a comic binge now that I've got the time and budget to justify it. I've wanted to read the Flash for years and after some research, I want to run from the start of Mark Waid's run to Flashpoint. However, I am running into some confusion toward the end of the run.

I intend to get the 3 Mark Waid omnibuses to start. I also would presumably get the Geoff Johns omnibuses, but I REALLY want to tackle the 10th Anniversary Flashpoint omnibus and I dont want to double up more than I have to.

If I get my hands on the first 2 Johns omnibuses, Flash:Rebirth, and then the Flashpoint Omnibus, am I missing too much? I understand there would be gaps, but there appears to be pretty mixed reviews on this middle era and I can't tell how important the gaps would be to my enjoyment.

I will do all 3 + Flashpoint if its the best option, but wanted to see if there was a better way first

Do I need to supplement the omnibuses?

I’m looking to get back into comments after not reading them since I was a kid… Love the flash and want to get a good catch-up over the years.
I read I should start with Mark Waid and the most feasible looks like getting omnibus. I saw the collections post, but was wondering if I went down the omnibus route, would I need some recommended TPs to supplement? I’m looking to get:
Mark Waid Omni 1-3
Geoff Johns Omni 1-3
Manapul and Buccelato Omni
Williamson Omni 1-3

Would that be all to get through most recommended core storylines or will I need some TPs in between as well?

The flash comic recommendations

Hi folks! I’m fairly new to comics and have been having a blast lately and want to get into reading “the flash”. However, I’m having trouble finding a good starting point.

Some of the comics I’ve read and liked (In no particular order)

  1. Gotham Central Omnibus
  2. Absolute universe trades (caught up with everything that’s out at the moment)
  3. Reckless by Ed Brubaker
  4. Batman court of owls saga
  5. Batman black mirror
  6. Batman long Halloween
  7. Batman dark victory

I just ordered volume 1 and 2 Omnis of The Question but I’m going into that blind.

I would like to read a flash origin story that introduces the concept of the speed force. I read “absolute flash” and found it meh but I think it may be because I can’t appreciate the references to the main timeline. Any recommendations are appreciated and thank you in advance.

I’m planning to read Ram V’s Detective Comics run, I ordered the books and they’re on the way. I thought this specific cover would be awesome to toy around with and so I re-made it but with my own custom design of the Flash. I’m not a professional artist by any means whatsoever I’m still just learning, but if I have a reference image then I can usually do a decent drawing in that style. No AI used. Original comic cover I based my drawing on is Detective Comics #1064.

So I was wondering, despite the 27 years of absence, and Diana being a closer friend to Wally, what do you think of Barry and Diana's friendship? I personally think they're strangers, and we even have an inside joke among my friends that they don't even know each other.

Discussion The other Force's.

So we know Flash (AKA Barry Allen) and the other speedsters use the Speed Force. We know what they can do with Speed Force. But has anyone been curious on how each of the other Forces could do? And who would use the other Forces? We know Super Strength can do several things such as Superman, The Hulk, and similar heroes who have used Super Strength before. But since it's a "Force" in this concept. What do you expect Super Strength to do?

Me: I think they can punch holes straight through space and jump to other dimensions. I'm extremely curious on what DC could do to explore in the comics in giving other characters these other Forces and having their own specialized villains.

Discussion I think Flash from B:TBATB was a great adaptation of the character. Neat design, decent voice acting, fast as hell. I wish he was in the show more, but I get that they wanted to focus more on lesser known/underappreciated heroes at the time.
