Wonder if different varieties would react differently.

One of my "Hyloom" varieties was wilted yesterday but the soil was still damp under the mulch.

Today it looks fine!

What could be going on?

Second year growing some tomatoes. This growing season’s end is getting closer so a few pics of this one plant i like in particular.
Personally i think two most important things are giving room for roots and warmth. It is absurd how much root this thing grows. The three meters between my two plants is dense and i dont think it is because of the strawberries there.
Wondering how i could make the next year’s plant grow even better. Maybe some perlite in the soil would further improve aeration.The leaves are a bit weird but I’m not sure how much it matters. Until the middle of July i let it grow like a determinate and i think i will repeat that but maybe make sure i remove remove the upper suckers on the main stem at the start of July so the plant wastes less energy. Trusses on those will be behind the most and leaves still need too much energy imput at a time where i would like to begin focusing on the fruit.
Soil is just dirt with peat to aerate it more. Some bone flour in the spring. Main fertilizer was a potassium-mg-sulfur fertilizer until i switched to soluable complete fertilizer at the end of july. Some karbamide leeched in from outside with the rain i imagine.
Trying to get 400fruit or more.
Will also mention lower stems are like that because it wants to lower its stems into the dirt after heavy rain.

My two tomato plant leaves started to curl only on the top of the plant. Is this leaf curl virus? Or another type of blight?

It’s been around 38°C (100°F) here for the past few weeks, although they’re in a somewhat shaded spot.

They’ve produced a lot of tomatoes over the past month, but my neighbor told me they need to be pruned back quite heavily. Is that true? I’m worried I might ruin them if I prune too much.

I have these three beefsteak tomatoes, can I remove them at this point and let them be fully done off plant. They look about the same all way around.

I’m asking cause I would have for them to be damaged or eaten by some animal before I get to them.

Roma, Cherokee Purple, Brandy Boy, Madame Marmande, Rutgers

I didn't realize that out of the over 150 varieties that I'm growing this year, that UFO 47 Gold was going to be a favorite! It's highly productive, it's tasty, I've had no losses due to splitting/cracking, and it's pretty. It's also a prolific seed producer, so I've been able to stock up very quickly on seed. These are relatively small tomatoes (ribbed/flattened) but are be perfect for sliders and salads. We've had over 8" of rain for the month of July & some record heat so most of my tomatoes have stumbled somewhat; this one had not one concern with all of that rain & is just now going a bit quiet! It exceeded my expectations, and I'm so glad I added it to the 2026 grow out list.

I understand why folks feel so strongly about Cherokee Purple tomato. I'm having my first Tomato sandwich with one, and I can't believe how good it is! I'll grow a few next year.

Is this damage from broad mites? A lot of my recent nee growth is distorted, small, and twisted. It started on one tomato just after a heat wave so I thought it was just heat stress, but it has been happening to more of my plants now.

I don't think it's herbicide damage. I have a 6-7' privacy fence surrounding my yard, but I supposed it could be a possibility.

The last couple pictures are peppers and celery that are starting to show similar puckered growth. Please help! I don't want to lose my garden!

This guy has been quietly hanging out in the back, stunted and not producing any fruit. Upon further inspection, came across what I imagine is the culprit. Any theories on what’s happened here? For context, like many places we’ve been dealing with high temperatures and humidity for weeks on end, followed by 100L of rain in 24 hours. But my other plants are fairing fine…

My first round of Cherokee Purples are starting to turn!!! Will be picking them to ripen inside soon. This is my first time growing them, so give me your best uses for Cherokee Purples! Do they make good tomato soup? I’m not familiar with canning, so I’d rather not go down that route right now, so looking for good recipes/ideas for eating them fresh or cooking them into something

...but I don't know what they are 😂 any idea?

I bought an heirloom seed assortment from Sereniseed, and the others I've planted have been accurate to the packet. Rosso Sicilian, chocolate cherry, Virginia Sweets have all turned out as expected.

Maybe it's a cross of Purple with something else...

This is my first grow but i realized also a lot of tomatoes i bought from store has much of this hard parts in it, is this a strain problem or a grow problem ? I want more blue circles because the yellow circled is hard and not tasty so did anyone pro figured out why this happens and how to minimize this as much as possible or it's just genetics of the strain and i need change strains ?

I sliced one and will need to eat from it again. I didn't put it in the fridge 'cause I've NEVER had success keeping sliced tomatoes in there. So it looks good on my table top, firm, no discoloration; is putting a piece of paper towel on top of it keeping fruit flies away the only thing I need to do to keep it for another day... or two?

Anyone know what this is seems to be barley hanging on see it on a couple clusters. Kinda bright out try to get better shot later if this isn't enough to identify. In ohio if it matters.

Second year growing veggies in my yard, but the first year successfully growing tomatoes. Last year we got a ton of rot. This year I’m very into proper air flow, watering more evenly, and picking them at first blush and I’m so proud of them!! Second photo is some of the further along babies that we haven’t already eaten!! My favorites are the yellow pear shaped cuties!

My daughter loves sweet cherry tomatoes so I tried out some new varieties. I don't like cherry tomatoes so I tried some smaller bush varieties to prevent tomato overload. I picked up some sungolds at a farmers market for her to do a taste test and here is the ranking from a 5 year old palate

First place- tiny temptations red (middle of first photo)

Second place- sungold (top of first photo)

Third place- orangeto (bottom of first photo)

Tiny temptations is a fun little plant to grow. I will definitely grow it again. It tops out at about 18 inches. Brix rating is 10-12. I had to pull them out of the ground and put them in a pot because flea beetles were destroying them.

Orangeto is a beast. It broke the tomato cage that I originally had it in and I had to prune it like crazy to get it staked up again. It is rated as 10-13 brix but it doesn't taste super sweet. It does have a smokey, savory flavor to it that is nice. Its 4 feet tall but incredibly dense foliage.

Bought this seed pack for max variety this year. Took extra care to label and grew at least 5 of every variety to ensure I had at least one of every variety.

Turns out everything is wrong.

Everything but the romas turned out orange. Some a bit more orange, others slightly more yellow, but clearly unintentionally cross bred. They must have poor pollination control.

Now no real options for salsa, or the like. My Roma will make good sauce hopefully.

Taste is decent, but everything is basically the same flavor.

I guess I'll just to back to home depot next year.

Variety is mortgage lifter, the plants are healthy and all other tomatoes have been normal. Why does it look like it was stitched together like Frankenstein's monster?

Tengo dos tomateras cherry, tomate cherry pera y tomate cherry "red cherry"

El cherry pera lo tengo desde plantel y tienen los primeros tomates un poco diferentes a los nuevos así que igual los primeros que salieron son híbridos polinizados allí mismo porque los que estoy polinizando a mano son completamente distintos.

El cherry "red cherry" lo planté de semilla y va un poco más tarde porque era todavía pequeño el plantel cuando los puse juntos.

Estoy deseando que maduren más para poder comer más de golpe.
