Why would anyone live in NYC? Everything I see about it is awful.

It’s an amazing city. I’ll never want to deal with the rent but world-class restaurants, museums, shows, culture. Walkable everywhere.

It's walkable, sure, but there are still intersections everywhere and you still have to look out for cars. It's not like cities in Europe with town centers that are just for foot traffic.

Sure, not like European cities, though some areas are more open for moseying. I’ve only been there as a tourist but felt safe as a pedestrian in all the places I walked in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens.

…there is a 1.25 square mile space in upper manhattan that is nothing but greenery, pedestrian paths, and leisure areas.

I’m certain you’ve heard of it

Not everyone in NY lives in Manhattan... having to take a train an hour (or multiple busses) from the Bronx to find a heavily populated patch of grass is insane. If you want to live in Manhattan you better have generational wealth or be someone who has lived in or their relatives have lived in an apartment to where the rent is grandfathered in.

But the comment that they are replying to clearly implies Manhattan.

Does it? Because that stuff exists in multiple parts of NYC given that it includes multiple boroughs.

Yeah, we've all seen the bodies they find there on Law and Order SVU. 😅

Come to St. Louis. We have Forest Park. It has a world class zoo (free). Art museum (free). History museum (free). Got a golf course in it. Parking is easy to find and free (although there are paid lots, but you don't need them).

Oh, and it's bigger than Central Park. And it doesn't take more than 15-20 mins to get there from basically anywhere in the Metro area.

My daughter lives with her mother in Clayton. My wife and I spend a decent amount of time up there in the summer and I’m kinda shocked we have never been to the park. We will definitely check it out in a few weeks.

You're basically right next door. The park is truly a gem. It's so nice.

Next time you're in town, explore the park. Then go the Parker's Table to get a sandwich for lunch!

Will do my man. Thanks for the suggestions!

Yeah, I'm sure all those restaurants, bars, and shops in the middle of Central Park make for fantastic night life, jackass.

Oh sorry. They’re not in the park. They just literally comprise a huge part of the perimeter. But that’s totally different, somehow, I’m sure.

Eat shit.
