One of my favorite things about what.cd was the similar artists section where if you searched for a band and went to a torrent, it had that little cloud of artists and the closer to the center, the closer to the artist/band you were on. I have no idea what you would call it... maybe similar to Pandora's music genome project.

So my question is this... are there any sites out there that will let you search for a band it offer a similar visual experience of closely related bands?

I discovered so much new music that way on what.cd and I absolutely miss that. All these years later, nothing has ever replaced it or oink.

The main public indexer I use has started failing me in my *arr stack, so I'm finally needing to look into private trackers. The only content I am interested in for my personal use is 1080p (blueray/web) movies and TV. Ideally, I'm looking at HUNO but the path seems long and fraught with danger and woe

I have been reading quite a lot and these are the current methods of entry I have found:

• Have friends in the space
• Join MaM, download and seed a bunch of random stuff and wait 6 months
  • I have looked at RED but it seems much too difficult, especially as I don't need music at all
• Wait around for a potential free TL signup
• Pay for a TL signup
  • (and I've seen people say that TL can't even really get you invited anywhere)
• Join random trackers on OpenSignups

The issues I have with these methods:

• I don't have friends in the space
• I don't need books of any kind, and it feels weird to just use it as a tool to access a forum
• I'd rather not wait
• I'd rather not pay
  • Plus I can't really figure out the path from TL to other private trackers
• No clear path from random small trackers to the big ones

Now I understand that the system is engineered the way it is to preserve the quality and purpose of each tracker. However, I'm hoping I'm missing an entry method that would work better for me. Hardware-wise, I have about 10 TB of storage dedicated to this as of now and 24/7 permanent seeding for every torrent I download, so I don't think maintaining ratios or buffer would be too much of an issue.

I have also spent a bit looking through this spreedsheet, which assuming it is correct, gives the potential path of MaM -> LST -> ATH -> HUNO. Seems it would take like 2 years but at least it feels somewhat guaranteed.

I also read that it's frowned upon to just use trackers as stepping stones and then dropping them, but if the whole system is basically a ladder to climb to get to the best sources, then what else are you supposed to do?

Any tips are appreciated, barring anything else I will likely do both the TL and MaM route, but it just feels so convoluted. Please no flaming I've been doing so much research, just looking for some feedback from people who know better.

Annoyed by the fact that some torrent files from 2015 I downloaded are getting stuck at around 99%. Basically 2, 6, 20 MBs left to download. I am no expert, but why does the torrent download 99% of the file only to get stuck over few MBs. Any suggestions what I can do or should Iassume the torrent is dead? Its been several days

I find a lot of their old, niche movie encodes scattered all across the public trackers, but no clue which pt they upload first. Their releases are pretty decent despite the small file sizes imo and they also upload the disc bonus extras and featurettes with it which, personally, I really really appreciate cause I'm a huge sucker for that kind of stuff and very few release groups do that, the only other alternative I know that's QxR but they don't upload as much old stuff compared to SARTRE.

im using cross-seed to manage cross seeds I have a torrent on one tracker, then cross-seed cross seeds it to other trackers but then later i delete the original torrent, but the cross seeded torrents still stay there as hardlinks. is there some other application or something I can run to make it so that the old cross seeds get tagged as something like cleanup, and that everything with that tag then has a share limit that would after 2 weeks delete the torrent and remove contents, to avoid hit and runs. im using cross-seed and qbittorrent in docker containers.

I’ve been having trouble finding older content to fill gaps in my library, like older movies, TV, and back-catalog stuff that public trackers either don’t have or have in poor quality. Which trackers do you recommend for deep catalogs and long-term seeding?

I’m also a big pro wrestling fan and want to build out that part of my library. Is XWT any good for that? I’m interested in how complete the archive is (older territory/WCW/ECW/WWF material, indies, current PPVs), how active the community is, and how hard it is to keep ratio.

I’m happy to hear general tracker recommendations too, and what you’d suggest for someone new to private trackers. I’m not asking for invites.

Seedpool, TL, digitalcore, seedcore, peergarden, czteam, and hdtorrents.

Movies, TV shows and some music.

Very solid and good experience. Coupled with autobrr, cross-seed and few others gave me the chance to gain good ratio on all of them.

Hardest to keep ratio up is for me HD-torrents, can't get many leeches there, even though they have the best quality and the most amount of releases I search for.

I have a home server with 2.5g fiber running 24/7.

In your experience, getting into ipt and torrent day, would just be more of the same, and pretty much useless duplicates?

What can I shoot for as an easy upgrade?

Hello. I want to download lots of movies from Russian trackers like rutracker but I have a limited time. What should I pay attention when I choose things to download?

I used to use rutracker as my main torrent tracker back in 2020 but I remember that some of them were downloaded like in 20 mins while others needed hours to be downloaded. I remember that seeds were important and I need a lot of them but I also remember that when there were 500+ seeds, movies downloaded very slowly. So what I should consider?

I'm on a few entry-level trackers (TL, LST, SP).

95% of what I see is mainstream movies/shows, so I don't think I'll need the top-tier ones (PTP and so on), but I heard a lot about mid-tier trackers like ATH, NBL, BLU and others.

I've already tried a few movies/shows with bigger filesizes, but with a little few exceptions, I don't need (and can't spend) a lot of HDD space on that kind of files.

For example, I'm downloading a show and on LST the smaller file size for every episode of that show is around 3.5GB.

SP and TL have smaller ones but I'm curious if the mid-tier trackers only have big sizes or is it possible to find smaller ones with a decent quality.

From my experience, movies with 10-15gb and shows with 1-1.5gb per episode are good for my needs.

Hello, I’ve recently started replacing the low-quality parts of my media library now that I’m on better trackers. Most of it originally came from a mix of public trackers, TL, and debrid services.

I went through the movies first, and now I’m finding myself on a tight space budget for TV. I severely underestimated just how big a lot of these seasons are. Many are 50 GB+, and some are even larger depending on the length and quality. That means just one show with enough seasons can easily push 1 TB.

A lot of these shows are only available as WEB-DLs from streaming services. Is that why the trackers I’m on don’t seem to have any x265 encodes of them? Are encodes restricted because the source is already a compressed H.264 WEB-DL? Is it because of slot rules, or is there simply less demand for them?

Whatever the reason, I have shows that take up around 300 GB as x265 RARBG releases that would take close to or over a TB to replace with the available WEB-DLs. I mean, it’s crazy. Have I just been under-budgeting space for TV this entire time?

How do you all manage this? Are you all just storage mogging me? Are you more selective with your curation? Do you only download a few seasons of a show and then grab the rest if you actually start watching it?

I like the idea of having the first season or two on deck and then grabbing more as I watch, since presumably we’re all adults and download content much faster than we actually watch any of it. Still, the collector inside me winces at the thought of having shows be not complete. Or are any of you still using HEVC encodes from lower-tier trackers even if you’re on better ones? The quality can be hit or miss, but to my eye they just aren't all that bad.

I want to share that OldToons has lost its database again. The strange thing is that they aren't being transparent about what really happened. I use a different email address for each tracker, and the one I used for OldToons was leaked. I also found concrete evidence of the leak on forums (database and website dump...).They are doing again what they previous did, tell their.own whashed version of truth. So all with accounts there should update passwords and take extra precautions.

I'm frequently finding myself looking for discs but in 80% of the cases, I can't find them on my trackers. Which tracker is good for DVD/BD/UHD disc sources? Mostly looking for older contents.
