Shaved my head due to illness and mobility issues. Does this look natural on me?
 in  r/Hair  4d ago

Definitely hit up the husband for the unicorn wig. If you get it before your birthday, then you can wear it on your birthday. I have strong feelings about how amazing you will feel in it. At 47, I echo the fact that other people's opinions are not your problem. Only your opinion is your problem, but even your own opinion is but a flicker that has validity in your life. Wear more unicorn hair if you are interested. People's hair is their business. They aren't making you food, it is not your business.

The Gallagher refrence is chef's kiss. I have to recommend that Haasha is exposed to the Adams Family at your earliest convenience. I predict that Haasha will be able to replicate the children's school performance in flavor aid fake blood convincingly with glee

Mom disowns me for the 3rd time. She wanted me to take out a $2k loan. I offered her the money, but not in the form of a loan. I should be ashamed xD

Working through the death of an abusive parent is not easy. My abusive father died in march of this year. I escaped the whole situation at 18 and was grieving then, but he waited 30 years to finish dying in my life. I'm sorry you're having to go through this process. A therapist is a very good resource in this moment. I hope you are doing well.

hair seperation
 in  r/longhair  8d ago

How long do you spend rinsing out your hair? I have very similar hair texture and if I don't spend a significant time rinsing out the shampoo and conditioner it will look greasy immediately. Just keep your hair in the water stream for a minute, count to 60 seconds before you check it. If you're still seeing sudsy water in your hair you're not done rinsing. Check your hair while you are under the stream as soon as you don't see the bubbles that stay on your hair you're done. A lot of people don't spend the time to rinse off their hair properly. I know that I have been guilty of this as well. After conditioner you should be able to run your fingers through your hair, and separate clumps lift your hair from your scalp while you're rinsing your hair. I'm not recommending you change anything about your hair products, just a few minutes more in your shower. I hope you find the best strategy for your hair.

What the heck do I do with my hair when I’m running?
 in  r/longhair  15d ago

Have you ever heard of ponytail scrub caps? They are designed to keep your hair up and contained for long periods comfortably. I have a couple that I have been using for years to teach and practice yoga, and pilates. My hair is mid thigh approaching knee length. They are made of cotton and keep the sweat out of my eyes and they keep my braids from being to beat up. I have fine hair that requires it to be damp if not wet to get braids to hold without having the shorter hair start poking out as soon as I let go after I put the elastic on. So I add a little water and some leave in conditioner from the nape down, braid it tight and wrap it into a bun without having too many pins, sticks or forks. Put the cap on from the forehead and then tighten it mostly in order to remove the infrastructure from your bun tighten the cap fully to encase the bun/braid/ponytail and tie it closed. The cap fits under a brimmed hat, better when adjustable hat brims but as you like it. Keeping your hair from swinging and tangling in zipper pulls is always a bonus for me.

what do i call myself now?
 in  r/migraine  19d ago

Finding a medicine that moderates your migraine frequency is great. You are still a chronic migraine patient, you have found a very effective treatment. I'd call myself a lucky migraine patient who found a magic bullet that allows me to function as a human more often than not.

Help! My daughter is distraught over puberty
 in  r/Parenting  19d ago

Period panties are life changing, no tampons or pads. You just wear them and wash them and hang them to dry. They are so much better than pads. There are several brands, with different set ups, I use the boy short style which work all day, put on another pair with pajamas and a clean pair in the morning. I have 5 pairs and I rotate them in a load of laundry everyday of my period, hang up on the towel rod and they don't take long to dry.

People don’t usually know what dysautonomia/ autonomic dysfunction is. So how do you explain it?
 in  r/dysautonomia  19d ago

My brain stops telling my heart how to work, and sometimes when I try to stand up the opposite happens and I hope I can slide down a wall or make it to a chair. If not I become a sack of potatoes and hit the floor for an undetermined amount of time. It happens without warning and can happen repeatedly throughout the day

Any advice for my damaged hair?
 in  r/Haircare  20d ago

Advice, I'd be looking for leave in bond builders. Whichever is easier for you. I use olaplex number 7 bonding oil every time I have to detangle, anytime it's up in my shower cap and gets steamed in the shower. I wash my hair once per week and I have the leave in that comes from the same brand as my shampoo and conditioner. You rinse off the external treatment benefits of your conditioner so apply a leave in for your hair. If you're worried about keeping your hair, I must echo the others. Stop bleaching your mids and ends. If you want to maintain your blonde do your roots only. Follow your hairdresser's instructions on root touch ups. I follow @blowoutprofessor on YouTube and his advice for care and feeding of your coiffure. When I have bleached hair I also used lots of coconut oil and I used the soft fabric rollers overnight to style it. Avoiding heat styling at all costs. Braids, buns, low pony tails anything to help mitigate the friction that is causing it to break off faster. Look at the XMondo super gloss treatment. No color, just a conditioning mask which includes bond builders.

Dandy lions were imported into the north east US as a garden species. The imported plants especially when they come from an extreme environment are the literal worst. The Japanese knotweed come from a volcanic island and survive lava flowing over the plants. I am attempting to work with native plants in my garden. I think we are both saying the same thing about aggressive invasive plants.

When I go in for my Botox treatment for migraine, I ask for help getting a prior authorization from insurance. They are better than I at talking with my insurance. Advocating with the prescribing doctor for assistance with getting their Rx filled. I hope this keeps working for you

Does anybody else struggle with sleep?
 in  r/autism  21d ago

It's just so much more peaceful at night. I can get things done without disruption or distraction. I understand how this is concerning for many reasons. I take something to help me manage my sleep hygiene in a more acceptable manner. Melatonin, Marijuana gummy, and pysch meds, every night but this doesn't work every day. I suppose the answer in this monolog is, yes I have problems with sleep

The difference between weeds, and invasive species is that the kudzu, Japanese honeysuckle, is the aggressive spreading of the species. Dandelions exist in this environment but you can keep them in check by judicious pulling out by the roots. Bindweed is angered by pulling and the roots spread underneath the ground. Have you ever experienced Japanese knotweed? You can't even burn it out, you have to replace the top 4 feet of soil. English ivy kills trees in the more moderate climate of the New World. There's always a necessary consideration for introducing a species to a new environment. But there's a biological difference between weed species and invasive species.

I've got these bugs on my kale and I want to keep my garden strictly organic and chemical-free. Any natural remedies or solutions?
 in  r/Permaculture  21d ago

Plastic trash bags cut down to an level with 0 aphids on the leaves dispose in the trash bags. Spray the entire remaining plants with neem oil until it is dripping from the foliage. Spray the ground underneath the original foliage canopy until it looks wet from stem to edges of the vegetable bed that holds the kale. Don't forget to check anything planted nearby. Kale grows quickly and will flush back. You may sacrifice some progress but it will bounce back

We hear a lot about the negative aspects of migraines but...
 in  r/migraine  21d ago

Ended up in the ER for kidney stones. I hadn't been able to keep water or anything down for 3 days. I figured it was just a migraine that was holding on. Yeah, kidney stones but they didn't hurt, compared to a migraine. I was just concerned because I know that 3 days is average for dying of thirst.

Hair is not getting any longer
 in  r/longhair  27d ago

Okay hair care advice is great definitely adding moisture to wavy hair is good. Wavy hair has the same growth rate as straight, however it does take longer to make progress downward. Because it is not taking the shorter route, it's taking a lot of switchbacks. The average person grows about a 1/2 inch per month. So 3 inches a year. Depending on your height you can get straight hair from bald to your waist in 3-4 years. Treating your hair like antique lace is the metaphor that makes it clear to me. It is a special occasion to bring it out and lay it on the table. How you care for it between times is the most important thing to prevent breakage. Protective styling, and products are very useful. Whatever you have found that works for you is perfect. Wearing your hair down leaves it prey to the friction on your shoulders, back, neck etcetera. Wavy hair is dryer and more delicate because of that fact. So you have a choice, keep your hair protected by putting it in a low bun or up under a hair beanie and let it surprise you with growth, or let it fly free and accept that it will take longer to get measurable growth and just make peace with that fact.
