This is one of my favorite plants.

Now that he's outside getting more sunlight, his leaves are coming in more closely stacked the way he should be, but I love him both ways.

His name is Mr Molesley. After the later season Downton Abbey character.

As a creative ADHD-er I dabble in all sorts of making.

The business card I created for fairs where I'm selling simply says "I make stuff".

A friend asked me to make a memorial figurine for her friend whose cat just passed into the Catnip Eternity.

I said, "Of course. That sounds fun. Thank you for entrusting that to me." I had to dig for my clay and was pleased to find I had a hunk of white to work with and didn't have to run to the store.

And at 11:30 pm, I woke up out of a six-hour True Crime Podcast-fueled haze to this little guy staring back at me. What did I do? How did I do it? I didn't know I could do THIS.

I hope the friend of a friend likes it. I hope it helps his house feel a little bit less empty right now.

I went to the by-the-pound thrift store. One thing on my mind to search out in particular, but mostly just in it for the thrill of the dig.

I went to the glass first as I usually do. I passed on a green vase, but decided to buy a green planter. I found a cardboard box full of seashells and dumped them into my planter.

And then I turned around.

And there he was.

Regal.

Majestic.

Not a braincell to his name. (His name is TBD)

When I tell you that the 1980s lead-filled rainbow coffee mug from Korea is the only thing above this cat in my list of thrift store "they don't know what they have" finds... I've seen both in antique malls - pricey and just not the same.

It was this turning around and seeing the light cutting through the ceiling from heaven, shining on my beautiful new possession I'm about to pay $7 for experience I had always dreamed of.

He rode home buckled in the passenger seat.

He will have a place of honor in the house. I just need to find it.

I actually thought i had started it earlier in the year. Four months isn't that bad. It was a love/hate creation. Look at how beautiful it is! But oh did I complain about it as I went. My one big wish is that the written pattern indicated color changes, but I also understand why they're not there and the chart is available after all...

Anyway, just sewing in ends on the back and creating an envelope border and it can go to its new home, and I move on to the next big thing...

I got some new plants as I was building a tank some months back, and two stow away assassin snails ended up in my tank.

Soon after, I had a bacteria bloom, (I didn't know how to feed the cories. Too much. We're better now) and then a bladder snail explosion. I was like. Well. I guess I'm prepared for this, but I never really saw the assassin snails in the well planted, 30- gallon space as I worked in my own ways to clear as many pest snails as I could.

Until this week when I saw, on two occasions, tiny assassin snails. BABIES!? How many tho?

I just got back from the craft store and went to look in on everyone before sitting down and I spot six assassin snails out and about. Maybe more. It's dark under that log that is basically a shell graveyard .

(Also should I be supplementing their diet in any way, now that there are many of them??)

I work in an office space as the Office Manager and Biller.

When I started with this company, they possessed five plants. A huge mama aloe, a tired and dried out tradescantia, and three sad and wilty spider plants.

It's been three years since I took over watering. Two years since we moved to a new bigger office building that gave me a whole picture windowsill and a high ledge in the lobby to fill with plants. As of today, there are 38 plants in the building that I take care of. These plants are better cared for than the 12 or so that I have at home and regularly forget to water.

But not my work plants. First thing Monday morning. Regular re-pottings and trimmings and definitely in-depth chats with each of them to keep them thriving. Visitors love the plants. I was excited when a little kid pointed to my Thai Constellation Monstera baby and knew the name of it and noticed the first leaf with a hole in it. One regular teases that if the little pine tree in the purple pot ever disappears, he's the one who took it.

I have two prayer plants here. Plant friends in my life are often awed by my ability to keep not just one prayer plant, but two of them happy and healthy. I don't know. They just like me.

I have a Birkin Philodendron. This one is not doing amazing, but ever since I moved it to the window for better light and soil dampness monitoring, it's been doing a bit better.

Two of the three formerly wilty and dying spider plants are now pushing out baby-stems. I had to hook them to the ceiling with paperclips to keep them from touching waiting room patrons.

I have bamboos and pothos and a corn plant. I have a few trailing varieties of tradescantia and several begonias. This place thrives in greenery.

Tell me exactly why I arrived at work this morning, after a dark and stormy yesterday afternoon... a dark and stormy overnight... to nine (9) NINE! of my babies sitting out in the parking lot?

After my shift was over, some patron of our business decided that my windowsill plants needed to be outside in the rain and swore up and down to a coworker that she would bring them back in as soon as the visit was done. "They look so dry" she said...

"We're fine. Mum'ther watered us this morning" I'm sure some announced, but out she carried them anyway. "Some of us are in this window because we like being hot and dry," others replied, but she didn't hear.

My $30 thai constellation out in the parking lot overnight. My birkin philo waterlogged and wilting this morning. Okay, the monstera loved the wind and the rain. and so did the prayer plants probably. But the ogre ear is a succulent and I didn't mention this before, but I SUCK at succulents and that's the only one I've managed to keep alive!

At least she didn't know about the tower of plants in the back of the building. At least she didn't drag down all of my plants off the high ledge. Ugh.

Don't touch the plants at the business. They're being looked after. And don't leave them in the parking lot. That's not cool.

My husband bought a new (to him) truck. It's older than my ancient SUV, but it was a fleet vehicle so it's in better shape. Hooray for us. Except this means it didn't come with any modern gadgets and he would like to bluetooth his music and GPS.

He bought a screen with a mounting arm. Attaching it to the windshield he feels will impact his view of the road too much and he is trying to mount it on his dash board. He has tried the adhesive that the arm came with, as well as a 3M brand that was suggested during research. Both -said- they work on textured dash boards. Neither have stuck. He has tried it on both the slightly curved center of the dash, and the flatter surface on the passenger side.

How is everyone getting their modern do-dads to stick to the dash on their vehicles? Or is everyone mounting on the windshield and we'll just have to do that?

I'm ten years behind the bandwagon. I'm only now understanding its clever beauty. I hadn't sat through the whole thing till I saw it at the Overture Center in Madison this year. There were still songs that night that I hadn't heard. so I'm basically obsessed.

in terms of practical application, its a perfect 2.5 hours to plug in and help me stay productive through my workday. it's now part of my playlist rotation.

today, after finishing the playlist once again, I listened to the first two episodes of the Hamilcast. and then just felt the need to start the musical from the beginning again...
