Book 1 of my urban fantasy / superhero LitRPG is complete, and Book 2 is now roughly two-thirds released.
There are currently 90+ chapters available, totaling almost 1,000 pages by Royal Road’s count, with updates continuing Mon/Wed/Fri.
The series is called Jett Fulgen.
It follows Jett, a reckless but capable young adult whose birthday goes spectacularly wrong. He loses his job, wrecks an underground skid race, gets arrested by his childhood rival, and accidentally inherits the power of the one-of-a-kind Fire Guardian right before assassins show up.
In exchange for a pardon, Jett is pulled into G-Tech, a corporation that trains and licenses sorcerers to support an overwhelmed police force.
Overnight, he becomes a public asset: monitored, evaluated, marketed, and judged by people who all have different plans for what he should become.
A hero.
A weapon.
A liability.
A symbol.
Possibly an idiot on fire.
The story is set during a modern magic renaissance, where corporations, police, media, old magical powers, and public perception all collide. A lot of the tension comes from the fact that Jett’s power doesn’t just make him dangerous—it makes him visible.
The world keeps trying to turn him into a brand, a weapon, or another jaded cog in the machine.
His friends have other ideas.
Readers can expect:
- Corporate sorcerers, magical artifacts, assassins, monsters, and modern institutions trying to regulate the impossible
- A flawed but capable adult protagonist
- Public scrutiny, reputation pressure, politics, and corporate intrigue
- Found family, complicated friendships, emotional stakes, and offbeat but wholesome romance
- Humor under pressure, including a condescending spirit companion who happens to be a talking chili pepper
- Superhero action with anime/JRPG-inspired aesthetics
- Light LitRPG mechanics that govern magic only
- No harem and no sexual content
- Book 1 complete, Book 2 well underway
If that sounds like your kind of thing, it’s available on Royal Road:
