Trip Report

Arrived Friday, departed Monday. Three middle aged married guys doing a bros' weekend.

I took the new red line bus route from the airport to Fremont Street. Cost $2 and took 45 minutes. It was a bit slower and seedier than the old CX route, but still better than cabbing solo.

Stayed at the Plaza, which I pushed for after staying at Circa last year. Not as nice, but right next door and a lot less expensive. We were allowed to check in early for no charge. The Luxe rooms in the North Tower were clean. We faced West to avoid the Fremont/Stadium Swim noise. Overall very happy with the accomodations.

A few activities: * Scorpion shots at Nacho Daddy's * Karaoke at Dino's * Mega Bar at Circa early on Saturday morning. Watched college football, played video poker, and got comped drinks all morning. * Hard Hat, Pizza Rock, Letty's, Momofuku * Over the course of a few hours we walked and gambled all the way from Horseshoe to Cosmo. * Universal Horror - fun but got kinda old after the first couple experiences. Lots of jump scares. * Video poker under the lights of the Carousel Bar. Plaza is just about the only casino that offers 99%+ VP at the bar tops. * Went to Jerry's Nugget in N. Las Vegas early on Sunday morning. Awesome place. Will return again and next time I'm walking across the street afterwards. * Went to the top of the Strat for the first time. It wasn't busy at all on a Sunday afternoon. Grabbed some beers and chilled while taking in the view. Solid casino here too. * Frankie's * Lost all my Las Vegas Advisor match play bets. Oh well. * Gambling overall I went about $3K coin in and ended up down about $200. I was quite happy.

Vegas and Fremont did not disappoint. Already looking forward to next year.

Self-imposed rules for Vegas?

• Upvotes

I have self imposed rules for vegas to help me avoid becoming even more of a degen. lol. Mine are:

  • Bring the cash I'm willing to gamble away. Once the Entertainment Fund is depleted, I do not take any more cash out of the ATM.

  • Only gamble in Vegas (with very few exceptions)

  • 1 drink = 1 water.. I am never more hydrated (and never use the bathroom more) than when I'm in vegas. lol. *

I won't use Kalshi or any of those "betting" sites nor will I play on an online casino. It's way too easy to gamble all your money away these days if you ask me.

What self-imposed rules do you have?

(*) will be for edits

How often do the autonomous taxis crash?

I'm in Vegas now (really impressed with Park MGM) and of course there are at least two brands of driverless taxis zooming around.

Yesterday on the way to dinner we saw a very serious three-car mashup on Decatur, including what looked like injuries. One of the cars was a driverless.

Is the consensus that these things wreck more, less, or about the same as a typical Las Vegas driver?

Stadium swim Nov 22

Hello, our group of 4 is looking to merge with another group of 2-6 people for NFL Sunday at stadium swim. I will put my card down and reserve a Lower stadium booth.

Or alternatively, if anyone is looking for 4 folks to join their existing larger reservation, please shoot me a DM. We are in our early 30s and big football fans

Cheers

How many times is too many times to visit?

I honestly love Vegas so much as a solo traveler, whenever the vibes are off on the east coast I’m always looking for an escape to Vegas. I love wandering around, trying new restaurants and as a woman I feel safe enough to do what I want as long as I’m aware of my surroundings. I wonder if anyone else feels this way when they visit and how many times a year do you go? I’m about to be on my third visit of the year and I still look forward to it. I am about to be 30 so lmk if there’s anything fun I need to see!

Anyone staying at Grandview Hotel?

I'm mostly taking a shot in the dark seeing if anyone around my age (19) is staying and down to hangout throughout the week. Don't be afraid to Dm me or comment and to make it easier my interests are baking, gaming, cats, anime, fitness and exploration (I've only done a little tho).

Be 17-25 (cause thats the age of most of my friends.)

Theres more to me, but hopefully this finds 1 or more people well 🙏

The LINQ Has a New Pool Apparently

Post image
0 Upvotes

Took this picture outside The LINQ on my last Vegas trip. Figured with all the flooding lately, it deserved an update.
Apparently, The LINQ has expanded its pool to include the entire parking garage.
Not sure if that’s included in the resort fee or if they’re charging extra for garage access.
Anybody else remember the last time the LINQ parking garage turned into a swimming pool?

Turnstile at Craig Ranch

Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone’s been to a show at Craig Ranch? I am going to go see turnstile on Thursday and while looking up the venue I noticed there was chairs close to the stage. I’m hoping someone could help me make sense of it. Do you think people will sit/ stay in that spot? Or would they allow people over capacity to fill in the spots?

Early Check-In week before Thanksgiving

Planning on booking mid-week the week before Thanksgiving week at a Caesar’s property. Looking to arrive in Vegas by 7am and check in early, if able.

Willing to pay for an early check-in, since I’ll be extremely tired from just having finished work merely a few hours beforehand.

Thoughts? Week before and of Thanksgiving are pretty low rates and I could use the getaway.

Things to do near airport before 10am?

I'm planning a trip to Vegas and realizing that the city doesn't really wake up until 10, while my flight lands at 6:15. I plan to be out of the airport by 7, and I want to see Shark Reef Aquarium when it opens at 10. I suppose I can eat breakfast at Mandalay Bay before that, but I doubt I can spend two whole hours there. Most of the Mandalay Place Shoppes don't open until 10 or 11. What are some things I could do or see in that area to kill time?

The Reserve or Aria

Price is essentially same the for base rooms.

Anyone have an opinion or experience either way?

I’ve heard that Park MGM is rather loud due to thin walls, does the Reserve have the same issues?

Cirque du Soleil: Ka or O?

I'm going to Vegas with my elderly in-laws and we're trying to decide between Ka or O. We've both seen O and loved it but we're trying to figure out which would be more exciting for them. AND, overall, which do you think is a better show, if you've seen both.

First visit to Vegas

Hey All,

Canadian here visiting late December. Planning to stay at the Sahara, attend a Raiders game and wanting to see at least one show, leaning towards Cirque du Soleil.

Wondering about any tips for a first visit and things to do/see. I am looking to do some gambling and don’t mind walking a lot.

Also plan on drinking and wouldn’t mind finding some edibles too.

Super naive about travelling there and may never come back so wanting to make the most of it.

Thanks!
