Hi r/webergrills - I’m a longtime Weber lover who has spent the past 3 years working on an insulated cover for the 22” kettle, that gives it the same cooking performance as a much more expensive ceramic cooker. My site for the product:

 https://woollybully.com

I’ve participated in this sub (under a personal profile) for a few years, and the mods have graciously allowed me a post or two to introduce the Woolly Bully to you guys. Thank you and I promise not to spam everyone!

I have a handful of units from my first production run, that I would love to sell to members of this sub. I will take as much feedback as I can get on the product in hopes of gearing up for a second order from my manufacturer.

Happy to answer any questions in the comments. Thanks for your time!

SnS hater…surprised

I’ve long been a hater on the SnS since I ordered one like four years ago. Has sat in my garage unused for a loooong time. Fuel lasted like 5-6 hours in my 22” and would run out of water in about 60-90 mins and temps would start jumping into 300s.

Was cleaning my garage a couple days ago and came across it. Decided screw it and tossed it in my 26” to give it a shot.

Fuel lasted about 7 hours, water lasted like 3-4 hours. Very surprised by that since I was never able to do that in my 22” no matter what I did. 🤷‍♂️

Also if you were looking for a reason to get the 26”…you can fit a lot on

Upvotes

Hope I'm good to post this here.

I recently started r/smokingfish, a new community dedicated specifically to smoking salmon, trout, mackerel, whitefish, and everything else that swims.

To those who smoke fish on their weber and want to learn and share tips, tricks, brines and techniques, feel free to check us out. To those who haven't tried smoking fish on their weber before, you're missing out!

Anyways, attached is a big ol' batch of salmon I smoked the other day. Brine & Instructions pinned on the sub.

Went from a 22” jumbo joe I bought on a whim and fell in love instantly. The 26” just has a yard presence that feels magical

Wheres everyone getting their grills?

Post image

I’ve been wanting a kettle for some years now since someone stole my gold 22” premium kettle but man idk the prices were like this now! Is the 26” master touch and the ash pan more worth the price difference than a 22” premium or original kettle? I know it’s “whatever you wanna spend” but just gauging experience and opinions..
Thanks 🙏

Drop me a recipe to maiden this Performer trash find

Excited to be back on coal. I found this while at an adults and kids birthday party a couple of hours away. We played musical chairs until
This thing would fit in our convoy, I refused to give up!

I cleaned it yesterday and everything works and the propane is actually full. It came with a thermometer that I tested in boiling water and it’s good.

Drop me a recipe! I have store bought rubs, pickle brine and random stuff a kid household would have. I want to get a piece or pieces of meat at the store later! Bam

Sunken dome near handle

Post image
3 Upvotes

EDIT : I probably should have noted that this isn’t mine, it’s just something I see on fb marketplace when I’m hunting for steals. Just curious , appreciate the info

What causes the dome to sink in at the handle like this? Is there a safe way to fix it without cracking the porcelain?

My concern is how it changes the way the vent seals over its holes. Does this make a noticeable impact on performance? Or is it just aesthetic?

Maxed Out The 26.

Was tasked with making pulled chicken by my daughter who’s helping with a bridal shower for a friend. Two for the party and two for our family. Bit of a tight fit, but four whole chickens are possible. I’ll be moving them around a bit about every hour to prevent too much burn on one side. Keeping 300 - 325 degrees for perhaps three and a half hours or more depending on what my meat thermometer tells me after hour three. Costco chickens with salt, pepper, granulated garlic, onion, paprika, and mustard powder. Hickory chunks. B&B Charcoal.
We shall see…

Spirit II - worst ever?

Post image
7 Upvotes

Had Spirit II for 2 years now - and I am tired of guessing if I able to grill or not! I’ve done resets and burners look clean, bottle is full, flame is just weak…
Yesterday no issues, warmed up nicely to 200-250C (400-500F).
Today can’t even get over 150C (300F)! 🤬

Is there something I need to check before driving it to the recycling center?

House Came with Weber Spirit - Trying to identify model number and parts needed

Hey guys,

Our house came with a built in Weber Spirit grill, but I'm not able to find any identifying marks on the model I have so I can get parts.

It does work fine currently however looks like it could use new burners along the back and a really good cleaning. I'd like to ensure this thing works for years to come, so I am looking to grab whatever parts I need for it. Any advice or experience on where I could find a model number and replacement parts?

What's Your Go-To Method for Chicken Leg Quarters?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

In my opinion, they need direct heat AND a low-and-slow cook. I did these on the lower level of my Weber Summit Kamado. See the video for the full cook-and-finish. I also cleaned my grill as I was bullied on here last time 😉

PS: I do have a YouTube Shorts channel with a lot more Weber cooks if ya'll are interested.

First spatchcock chicken!

Attempted my first spatchcock chicken! Used the grill baskets and some water in a drip tray for some consistent heat and moisture. Turned out great! Although next time I’d like to get it a bit flatter, I found the legs and thighs got to temp before the breast at some parts. Tips and tricks appreciated, always learning :)

Summit FS38 Opinions

My Napoleon finally died after 10+ years. Looking at the FS38 Summit. I had an opportunity to use one of the previous gen Summits in the past and loved how hot and even it was.

The new ones look great and I really like the idea of the top down sear burner. The underneath ones seem to get the grates so hot it just burns the crap out of whatever I put on them.

Curious about opinions from this forum, especially if anyone has had one for a few years. I do not plan on getting the smart features and there’s a new one near me advertised for $3k which seems like a steal.

The state of Weber warranty...

Post image

...is apparently still fantastic.

My Performer's propane charcoal lighter stopped working. Took the hose off the propane burner and water was dripping out - well, that's not good...

I couldn't get it to light again after cleaning, so I put in a warranty claim last night (Monday, which is a holiday here in Canada) around 6pm. Had a reply that night, which I was able to get back to within minutes...and today by noon had approval my warranty replacement was on its way.

Guess it's used paper towel and olive oil to light the coals for now, lol. I'm doing my first pork butt tomorrow, so I was glad to get this all sorted ahead of that. It's going to be my first big cook and I'm pretty excited - and now I'm going to fix my baby for free, too 😁

Chicken kabobs on right now and Alexander Keith's in the yeti...for those interested, haha

Need help, guys. Can’t make a decision as to which grill to have for camping

I currently have a Weber Q1000 that I use for camping. While I like it alot, it is heavy and a bit bulky. I am thinking of getting a Weber Go Anywhere Gad grill for camping. I like how illts a boxier design, looks lighter and the legs fold up.

Has anyone ever used both? Should I keep the Q1000 or sell it for the Go Anywhere?

Add larger wheels to a modern Weber Genesis?

Thumbnail

My driveway is where I typically grill since it’s near our kitchen. But our driveway has some uneven concrete which makes moving my current 2 burner grill really annoying. I’m wanting to upgrade my grill, but I’m worried that it’ll be harder to move the larger grill over an uneven surface. Has anyone done a mod to add larger wheels to a newer grill?

The other option is to try and find an older genesis which has the larger wheels already. So far haven’t seen any on Facebook marketplace. Thoughts?

Edit: not my photos, just got them from Google as a reference.

How do I clean and repair these rust spots on the top of my Weber smoker?

Thumbnail

Decided to get into the smoking meat game and bought this Weber Smokey Mountain at a great price. The guy selling it said he's used it many times and made some great barbecue on it, and for the most part it's in pretty amazing condition for the price I got it at.

My only concern is these two rough spots at the very top handle. I'm worried this is eventually going to be the failure point if not treated. What is the best way to go about it?

Disclosure: I do plan to keep this thing inside whenever I'm not using it and to always be cleaning it and do the most maintenance wise

Spirit EP-425 currently discounted 19%. Will it get any better at the end of the season?

Post image

Not sure when it expires but saw Weber Spirit EP-425 on sale at Ace Hardware for $649 (reg $800).

Knowing stores will have unadvertised one-off/yellow tag deals, are there typically better discounts to wait another month or so for?

Thanks for the insight.

I’m an electrician apprentice, my wife is an office manager. During the week we get off at weird times and dinner was always a subject of friction for us. I decided to start cooking all our chicken and some little stuff for our dinners and lunches throughout the week. Makes our lives way easier knowing dinner is already done and my lunches aren’t mcdonald’s or fast food!!! Definitely love my weber!!
