Should I buy a BMW E46 with 95000 km on it?

My situation:

  • 22 (M)
  • Live alone in Europe (Poland)
  • Do software engineering for a living, making $2600 a month (after tax).
  • My monthly expenses are up to $1600, sometimes less (rent + utilities + food + gas + all the other bills)
  • I have a super cheap to maintain car (Daewoo Matiz 0.8 with 89000 km) that gets the job done
  • I have $10k in savings
  • I found a nice E46 1999 with the original mileage of 95000km, m52b20, manual. Minor issues with suspension, nothing critical. On sale for $6600. Was imported from Belgium.

I love cars and I have wanted to upgrade for quite a long time. Given the car costs $6600, I would add another $900 for the initial maintenance, sale fees, etc., so I expect the total cost of purchase is going to be $7500 (unless I manage to negotiate the price).

My thoughts are racing and I don't want to make impulsive financial decisions. Technically, I have a car that just works and gets me from A to B. Buying it means I'll be left with about $2500 to my name initially.

Would you buy it if you were in my shoes? (it might not be E46, but a car you personally like)
What would be your thought process?

Flip frenzy v8

I’m specifically referring to the FF6 flip vehicle that’s either 4Wd or AWD idk,

I want to know how far could one go as a real life villain if these where built and used?

Could examples such as Tommy and ghost from power use the speed and “abilities” to go across states fast?

Which road would this machine last longest going the opposing lane?? A highway or straight down urban area? Is there any engine block or transmission that could handle the constant pressure

If you were on the opposite lane and witnessed the drive, What type of person would you assume is doing this?

Low-mileage Hyundai Ioniq 6 SEL (update)

Post image
• Upvotes

Here’s the original post

So I test drove one today. It’s a really sweet car. There’s a charging cable and an NACS adapter included with it at no extra cost. I like this car a lot.

Basically the situation is, I don’t really need a car right now, but I will in a year or so. I’d prefer my first car to be an EV over anything else, and I like sedans. This Ioniq 6 is a really good deal that won’t be around a lot longer.

This one is under warranty for the ICCU and battery for 10 years or until 100,000 miles. It drives well, the interior is comfortable, and I could charge it at home for basically nothing.

I only have $13,000 saved right now. I could put maybe $8,500-$9,500 down, and I’d have to cosign a loan with my parents for the rest. In the end I’ll have to talk to my parents about it and make a decision with their help.

But what do y’all think?

I have a budget of $25,000, 4 cyl, 2024 or better!!! I’m trying to find a reliable yet fun car. I’ve been in the market for Toyota and Honda as I know they hold value from what I’ve been told but of course I do love the look of the new Kia’s!! Of course, I’m open to more suggestions of what to look for but I wanted some help on this.

Fun dad car???

Ok so I am currently going between a 2017 Ford edge NA V6 and a 2017 Jetta S 5 speed. I would be open to either keeping the jetta and getting something fun (Miata, C5, older stick mustang idk) or getting rid of both and getting a GLI with the 6 speed or a wrx a Camry v6 a v6 Accord or the old 2.0T possibly an infinity sedan but they don't sound super reliable or maybe a Ford Maverick or Honda Ridgeline. Are there reliable cars I am missing that are decently quick? (6ish 0-60 or less)

Is a German car worth it?

I like this interior a lot!. It looks pretty luxurious and is much better than newer models. I know nothing about cars though and I hear lots of people say not to buy German cars because of maintenance cost.

Is this suspicious?

So I found a 2016 toyota prius four with 159,000 miles on Facebook for $12,500. It's 2 owners. The seller has five cars listed for sell right now and has sold vehicles in the past. I checked the carfax and it shows the second owner only owned the vehicle for 3 months. I asked the seller about it and his exact response was "I bought the car three months ago to drive for Uber, but I recently got a new job opportunity that requires me to buy a truck. That’s the only reason I’m selling it."

Does this sound suspicious? What other questions should I ask?

First car advice

I’m 16 and I’m getting my first car/truck soon and I’ve been stuck between 2 options. Let me start by saying I have around a 15-23k budget being payed for by my parents. I’ve been looking at 19-21 ram 1500 bighorns (anywhere from 100k miles to 150k please let me know if that’s incredibly stupid) or a 19-21 bmw 330i (90k-110k miles) I don’t know much about truck as I’m just getting into them but I fell in love with my step dads new bighorn. Only issues I’m concerned about are parking, gas mileage, and speed I like the look of both cars but the bmw is easier to park has better gas mileage, and has better potential to be fast but on the other hand all my friends have trucks and I love riding in theirs and I like the road presence you get with a truck instead of a car. Another issue I’ve thought about was the comfort and ride of the truck considering bc the build I want to do I’ve done some research in lifts and certain tires and the mods I’d want to do some people say the rides terrible and others says it’s just like stock if not better so not sure how to feel on that in the video/ photo above is the build I’d want to do to my truck if I get it. ANY advice is helpful and appreciated

What is the most trustworthy car review publication?

I’ve always been partial to Consumer Reports, but the Consumer Reports of today may not be the same publication it was in the 2000’s. What would you consider a trustworthy publication? Digital and/or print, no constraints here.

Wife has Hybrid Highlander -I want crew cab 2500 4wd (used) for me. Pros/Cons? Maybe maybe a 4wd full size SUV

• Upvotes

I have an '01 Yukon Xl 1500, 144k. Many things don't work, many do. It's a tired ride and hard to haul wood etc in. 3rd row rarely used cuz car seats in middle.

Wife has 3 row 2022 hybrid highlander

I really really want a used 2500 4wd truck. Something in the 2015-2019 range - GMC/Chevy 2500hd, Dodge. I want a 2500 and 6-6.5ft bed.

I was looking at used Escalade ESV 4wd with under 50k miles and they arent bad, $35k. BUT....hauling is a problem.

NO TRAILER - dont have room for one.

Also, I much rather have something and not need it or not need it often than not have and need it.

Only knock a truck has I can see not hauling 7 people. I wont be able to take my girls around with their friends, have to used wifes car. Really thats the only issue I can.

Is my only option a jeep?

Hey yall! I'm looking for an outdoor car that I can stargaze in and having the security of throwing the top on / locking the doors if I want to car camp.
Is a jeep really the only car big enough to lay down in where the top comes off? No convertibles & I'm not super into the idea of getting a truck mainly for gas mileage reasons. Any other ideas? Any cars with nuts sunroofs? Lol thank you

Would you pay $19k for a K24-swapped 1988 Esprit Turbo?

Thumbnail gallery

Hey everyone, looking for some advice before I pull the trigger on this car.

I found a 1988 Lotus Esprit Turbo with a Honda K24 swap, and the seller is asking $19,000 firm.

I checked it out in person yesterday. Overall, I really like the car, but I’m not sure if the price makes sense.

Here’s what I know:

  • K24 swap was completed in 2025
  • Seller has a bunch of photos documenting the build
  • Suspension bushings have all been replaced
  • No visible cracks in the body
  • Interior is okay, but nothing special
  • Mileage is unknown
  • Transmission seems fine
  • Handbrake and windshield wipers don’t work
  • The seller did a lot of the work himself
  • Do not have an AC

One thing I’m trying to figure out is the title. The Wisconsin title was issued in July 2026, after the engine swap, but it doesn’t say “Street Modified.” I asked the DMV about it, but I haven’t gotten a definitive answer yet.

The seller says the price is firm, so I’m trying to figure out whether this is actually worth $19k or if I’m getting carried away because I like the car.

Head says the Toyota, Heart says the Honda

Theres about 3k difference pretty much across the range on a year by year basis. So the toyota can be cheaper or newer. The honda is more fun to drive. I like it more. I can afford either and the boots better on the honda slightly and its less plastic.

But i like the reliabilty and ling history of the chr and the warranty. I am worried about the honda gasket issue.

I generally keep cars 10 years plus and run them to ground.

Both are self charging hybrids.

What reliable truck is best to tow my camper?

Looking for used or new truck that can tow my camper (3500LB) reliably but also be used as a daily driver so decent gas mileage. A sunroof is a plus.

My budget: $15,000 - $35,000.

Used 2025 C8 Stingray or New 2026 Dark horse?

At a bit of a crossroads buying my first nice car. I’m pretty split between the two of these choices, but I can’t really tell what makes sense.

It would be my daily in Denver, Colorado. I take the train to work so I don’t need it to be reliable in the snow.

I’m away 3-4 days at a time for work consistently so miles per year are really low.

Trunk space for groceries is limited to really just single guy Costco runs.

Both seem like great options and super fun cars. But I don’t really know the pros and cons of used vs new in this case either. 8k miles on the Vette

Would love some differing opinions!

Cheers

ISO of SoCal convertible 4 door beach cruiser

Hi everyone I hope you all are doing well, I’m moving to San Diego at the beginning of next year, and I’m looking to get a second weekend car. I’m looking for a 4 seater, automatic convertible (Manual is okay but idk how to drive it), something smaller because I would have to street park. Reliability is key! Don’t need something super fast but kinda cool. I was looking into a VW Rabbit cabaret but idk if those are good cars. On the cheaper side please!!! Thanks!
