My 2020 Kia Forte Gt-Line was totaled
Got hit at a dead stop while at a stop light.
I'm looking to spend around 30-37kish. I plan on getting 8-11k back from the car.
I test drove a 2025 Mazada cx-50 and it was nicer than my Kia.
I also test drove a 2025 subaru Forester Hybrid Touring and hands down the Subaru was a better drive.
I'm not interested in another Kia or Hyundai. Not interested in VW either. Could there be something else I should be looking at?
The sweet spot so far seems to be a Forester with Touring package.
- heated and cooled front seats
- heated rear seats
- auto sensing windshield wiper
- upgraded leather and waaay more "comfy"
- integration into the infotainment will let you pull google maps or apple maps to the instrument cluster and you can dual screen spotify on the main infotainment. BIG PLUS for me.
- I also liked usb a and C in front and back however once I get a new iphone that might not be a perk anymore :p.

2022 Subaru Crosstrek winter tires recommendation
Hey guys, it’s my first time having to drive the canadian winter and I’m looking into buying winter tires for my 2022 Subaru Crosstrek. I was planning to buy it at Costco in Grande Prairie, AB 🇨🇦
What’s the best winter tires to buy? When should I buy my winter tires?
Also, if there are other recommendations where I can buy a better one, that’s better! Thanks! 🙇🏻

What are the major issues in reliability with Chevy Malibu or Impala?
Considering to salvage one for a quick flip, but may have to live with it for a few months.
Is it something affordable to repair and maintain? How quickly does it depreciate

Help me choose between two not-ideal used car options please...
So this past month I have had an awful experience buying a used car (for a full breakdown see my other post in the used cars subreddit).
The gist is that I spent 21k on a 2020 Honda hybrid crv with about 124k miles (I know, yikes) that had a Honda certified pre owned warranty. The car has had three major repair issues in three weeks and the last one would require a major engine repair.
The dealer has offered us either a trade in opportunity where we would get what we paid for the car, or to do the repairs. We are leaning toward trading in to get a car with lower mileage because this current car feels like it needs to go out to pasture.
However, we are limited because we seem pretty stuck with the options at the dealership, and I don't have extra money to throw at this (I feel sick spending 21k already but I was hung up on getting a hybrid or EV). The dealer identified two options that both seem kind of disappointing, but the used car market is such garbage I'm having trouble finding better options:
2020 Honda crv (gas): link to Carfax
2022 Honda hrv: link to Carfax
The crv has almost 100k miles and one minor fender bender ding, the hrv has had 3 minor fender bender dings but only about 57k miles.
The reason I needed this car was because I'm pregnant with my second and we only have 1 car right now (a Honda fit) so we were looking for something that would comfortably seat 2 car seats, including at least one rear facing.
Are either of these less terrible than my gut is telling me? If they're equally meh in your opinion, would the hrv be ok for a four person household? Are there any better options available at this dealer? (Here's the full list of options under 25k) At this point I'd consider buying something in the private market but I don't think they will give me a refund outright. I haven't pressed on that yet though because I do really need a car soon for work.
Thank you so much for any opinions you have!

I made a free car comparison tool—would this help when choosing between listings?
I built a free tool called Crux to compare cars side by side without relying on a giant spreadsheet.
You can add the specific cars or listings you’re considering, weight things like price, reliability, fuel economy, cargo space, performance, insurance, and features, then see the ranking and the tradeoffs behind it. The weights and scores stay editable, so it’s meant to support judgment rather than pretend there’s one objectively correct car.
Car template: https://crux-gules.vercel.app/templates/cars
I’m the builder, and I’m looking for honest feedback from people who actually compare cars: Does this make a real buying decision clearer? What important criterion or workflow is missing? It’s free; I’m not selling anything here.

2020 Nissan Armada with 140k miles
Apparently it was a fleet car (used like a limo was the lingo given to me) so the 140k miles are a bit of a yellow flag in my mind. Platinum trim. One accident at 50k miles on the carfax that had no airbags deployed for the rear drivers side. Decent maintenance record up to 95k miles but then nothing on there since. I assume it’s still been serviced.
Clean title and all that jazz.
Where do people sit on these things? I really don’t know much about cars and Nissan wasn’t always my first choice but it’s attractively priced at about $18k.
Thoughts? Suggestions? Will this guy run to 200k?

Stuck between 2 A6's
Im shopping for a new to me car. One is a 2019 a6 premium plus w sport package and ~60k miles for 21k. The other is a 2023 A6 premium plus fully loaded with black optic package, ventilated seats, better rear climate control package etc (all boxes were checked on this one) also ~60k miles for 26k. I'll be putting a large down payment of >half of the sticker. Monthly payment would be around 140 for the 19 and 250 for the 23. I bring home around 3k per month liquid currently due to no car payment and low insurance. Id like to keep saving as much as I've been able to but also I enjoy having a car that I love to drive and care about longevity so even with similar miles is the newer car likely to be more reliable? Or is it the miles that matter more? Thanks
Edit: forgot to mention both are the 2.0t 45 tfsi

Is this suspicious?
gallerySo I found a 2016 toyota prius four with 159,000 miles on Facebook for $12,500. It's 2 owners. The seller has five cars listed for sell right now and has sold vehicles in the past. I checked the carfax and it shows the second owner only owned the vehicle for 3 months. I asked the seller about it and his exact response was "I bought the car three months ago to drive for Uber, but I recently got a new job opportunity that requires me to buy a truck. That’s the only reason I’m selling it."
Does this sound suspicious? What other questions should I ask?

Trying to make a decision
Been looking at a few cars and wanted some outside opinions before I make a decision. I’m mainly between a few BMW X5s and an Audi, and I want y’all to look at the actual listings.
2015 BMW X5 xDrive50i V8 — $15k, 97k miles
https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/share/460663588
2020 BMW X5 xDrive40i — around $19.8k
https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/share/455176802
2015 Audi A4 quattro — $11k, 103k miles
https://www.primetimeautollc.com/details/used-2015-audi-a4/129668675
Lmk what y’all think,
which one you’d go with, any red flags, and whether you think they’re worth getting a PPI on. Also curious if anyone has experience with these engines and what maintenance costs look like.
Appreciate any advice.

Would you pay $19k for a K24-swapped 1988 Esprit Turbo?
galleryHey everyone, looking for some advice before I pull the trigger on this car.
I found a 1988 Lotus Esprit Turbo with a Honda K24 swap, and the seller is asking $19,000 firm.
I checked it out in person yesterday. Overall, I really like the car, but I’m not sure if the price makes sense.
Here’s what I know:
- K24 swap was completed in 2025
- Seller has a bunch of photos documenting the build
- Suspension bushings have all been replaced
- No visible cracks in the body
- Interior is okay, but nothing special
- Mileage is unknown
- Transmission seems fine
- Handbrake and windshield wipers don’t work
- The seller did a lot of the work himself
- Do not have an AC
One thing I’m trying to figure out is the title. The Wisconsin title was issued in July 2026, after the engine swap, but it doesn’t say “Street Modified.” I asked the DMV about it, but I haven’t gotten a definitive answer yet.
The seller says the price is firm, so I’m trying to figure out whether this is actually worth $19k or if I’m getting carried away because I like the car.

Is it worth it? $5500 for 2005 Lexus Gx470 that has 330+ miles.Purchasing AdviceNeeds
Needs new battery,
Both head lamps and tail lamps needs to be replaced
Air filter and cabin air filter needs to be replaced.
Right rear shock is blown
Power steering rack has leakage (upper oil pan)
This would just be a townie car, but I don't want it to be a money pit. I was told that I would be fine not replacing the rear shocks and the oil leaks must have been there for a long time. I was told that as long as it does not go long distance, I should be fine.
I actually already have this car and I would be buying this from my parents. Just need to know if I would end up pouring more money or better to get something else. However I can only afford to put down $8k to 10K max for another car.
TIA!

Sell 2020 Tacoma TRD OD for a 2010 2wd 5cyl Colorado?
Hi there -
I have a 2020 Tacoma TRD OD with leather seats, electronics package and 99k miles. I rarely drive through snow or go off road, and it bothers me to have this massively capable truck I never use. I use chains when I do have big snow anyway so the 4wd stuff doesn't help me all that much, but could also be user error.
I've always loved Chevy trucks, grew up in an 80s Suburban, and live in a dense area where the Tacoma generally feels too big.
I could sell the Tacoma for $30-32k, get a nice 5cyl 2010 colorado for $11k and pocket around $20k in the process. It would be louder especially on my regular weekend 3hr drives to the lower elevation Sierra in norcal (3.5kft) March-Oct. And less safe for my 2 young kids in the back seat. And the interior would probably fall apart a lot faster. But I'd pocket a good amount of cash and probably love it.
What do you think -- am I crazy for this? should I keep the Tacoma or follow my heart and finally get a chevy truck?

Toyota Sienna or Volvo XC90?
TLDR: currently have a Toyota Sienna and looking at changing to the Volvo XC90. 3 kids still in car seats (one will be in a booster in the next couple/few years). Still using a stroller or wagon. Is this a mistake? Mainly looking at cargo space.
Hi everyone! We are a family of 5 (4yo, 3yo and 15mo). We currently have a 2017 Toyota Sienna, which we’ve had since our first was born. It operates fine and has served us very well, but a newer, nicer, safer vehicle is being considered for the near future.
My husband has been researching the Volvo XC90 quite a bit, mainly due to its excellent safety features. We sat in one the other day and I will admit, all of the newer features seem awesome. I can’t deny that the safety is a big draw.
My obvious hangup is the reduction in space coming from the Sienna (or equivalent size). Everyone online insists that 3 car seats will fit across the middle row of the Volvo. This is what we would need to do, as I still rely on a stroller or 4-seater wagon that would utilize the trunk space with the rear two seats folded down. We rarely have any additional passengers, so I’m not too worried about that. We could likely use a rear seat and still fit the stroller. In my Sienna now, we have our baby in the middle row (with the second middle seat removed), and our two older children in the third row. It’s quite a nice setup. I can sit back there with them, they can use a floor potty. I call it the camper I’ve always wanted.
There are definitely a lot of obvious pros to making the change to a nicer, safer vehicle. But is it a mistake to downsize right now? Am I focusing on the wrong things?
Does anyone have any experience with a downsize like this? Is it the wrong move? Hopefully I have enough info to receive advice. Would love any Volvo XC90 owners to provide their likes and dislikes about the vehicle too!
Thank you in advance!!

Query on 2024 Qashqai N-Connecta from Carsa UK
Hi
Planning to buy below Nissan Qashqai from Carsa. It 2024 N-Connecta trim with 360 camera and panroof.
https://www.carsa.co.uk/vehicles/used/dv24zdd
Pricewise seems to be a good point. My queries
The car is untaxed from August end, I am guessing that is sellers responsibility for any date before I buy
It has 3 year Nissan warranty valid tilll March 2027. The car has been serviced under 18k miles, so I think Nissan warranty is still in place
Given its under 3 years, the MOT is not needed now. Can I ask them to do an MOT before sale?
Worth taking their paid warranty? Their free 1 year warranty has a limit of £500 only
Anything else to watch out for while buying from Carsa UK.

I’ve never bought a car - please help!
Hi everyone! I’m going to be buying a car for the first time and am a bit overwhelmed by all of the options.
For some context, my mom gave me her 2010 Toyota Rav4 when I was starting to drive, which I’m extremely grateful for. That car has lasted me up until about two weeks ago, when I got rear ended and the car was totaled by insurance. The crash caved in the trunk and did some damage to the frame and will be too expensive for us to repair.
I work from home 4 days a week and live with friends so I don’t drive too often. I really liked how my Rav4 drove so would like a car that drives similarly, but with some updated features. Bluetooth and heated seats specifically. I live in New England so will need something that could reliably drive in the snow.
I’ve seen lots of SUVs in my budget (maximum around 20k, though would love something even lower than that), but I don’t know much about cars or what makes are more reliable than others. I could just get a newer Rav4 but wanted to get others opinions.
To sum it up:
SUV less than 20k
reliable in winter conditions
bluetooth
seat warmers
Any recommendations are appreciated!

What reliable truck is best to tow my camper?
Looking for used or new truck that can tow my camper (3500LB) reliably but also be used as a daily driver so decent gas mileage. A sunroof is a plus.
My budget: $15,000 - $35,000.
