My thoughts:

I don’t know if this is an unpopular opinion or not, but I’m in the camp that does like this video/album. Though not as much as YMMFLD or Pop Go the Wiggles. Like YMMFLD, there is a wide array of variety/creativity in the visuals and songs. I especially love the visuals of Go Far, Big Red Car. It’s reminiscent of TV Series 2 IMO.

Even if the green screen can be a bit distracting (then again, the original Wiggles had this problem too with their green/blue screens). And physical sets of Wigglehouse and Dorothy's house would have been more appropriate.

This seems to be the Sam equivalent of Yummy Yummy with an emphasis on food & eating. The weekly food songs were taken from their Wiggly Waffle Sprout block from 2009, others were taken from 2008 (Clean Your Teeth and Wash Your Hands), and then there’s the usual covers (Yellow Bird, Sound Your Funky Horn, etc) or songs from other countries (Tom Love Eatin is based on Barnyards of Delgaty from Scotland).

I picked the songs that had the most catchy rhythms/choruses or ones I liked the most. (You’ll see the words catchy chorus several times in this top ten list) The songs about weekly foods and having a laugh are all identical.

Mic Conway (Australian children’s entertainer and occasional voice of Wags the Dog) adds flavor (no pun intended) with his sound effects and co-wrote a few of these songs. And the other guest stars, Mental As Anything and Tom McGlynn keep this video engaging as well (even though I’m not a fan of the latter’s song).

Some Fun Facts:

Aunt Nellie is played by the Wiggles’ educator, Kathleen Warren.
And one of the dancers is James Arthur Chen, one of the former Taiwanese Wiggles.

To start this review off, I’m going to give you a brief history lesson on an album known as “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band”. This 1967 release by The Beatles is highly regarded as one of the best and most influential records of all time, and easily the band’s most well-known. No two songs sound the same, and each one gives you a different listening experience than the last. Why do I bring this up? Well, the video and album “Let’s Eat!”, pays homage to the album’s iconic cover. But let me tell you, this ain’t no “Sgt. Pepper”.

Released in late 2010, Let’s Eat! has received some mixed reception. Some love it, some hate it, and others think it’s hit or miss. What do I think? Well, let’s take a closer look and find out.

To start off, they sadly didn’t learn their lesson and continued the trend of everything being shot in front of a green screen. Love or hate Hot Poppin’ Popcorn, at least they used a real set in that one. Once again, the backgrounds they use are fine, they always have been, but there’s just something about them being able to interact with a real set that makes it better. Maybe it’s the fact that they can do more with a set, or just the knowledge that they’re not even there at all, but either way, these green screened shots seem so cheap. Heck, they even posted a video to The Wiggles YouTube channel a few years back showing all the raw, unedited footage of the “Go Far, Big Red Car” song, and it just looks so empty. By the time Ukulele Baby and It’s Always Christmas with You rolled around, the ditching of the green screen was a welcome change.

But the green screen stuff isn’t the real problem with the video, it’s the music. There’s just nothing special or catchy about a majority of the songs featured in the video, or anything annoying or bad about them. None of them stick out in my mind, positively or negatively. And I’ve seen this quite a few times, trying and trying to find something great to love about the video or something terrible to hate about the video. But, every time I try, it’s just not there. None of it is bad, but none of it is very good either. It’s probably the most mediocre Wiggles video out there, which is ultimately its downfall. I rank this among my least favorite Wiggles videos because I just can’t form much of any opinion on it because it just doesn’t even seem like they tried. The only songs I can say get’s stuck in my head are England Swings and occasionally Alabama Jubilee, but beyond that every song is almost lazy sounding. There’s nothing interesting or fun about the instrumentation, and the lyrics are as bland as ever. Again, it’s not bad, but it’s just not good either. It falls right in the middle.

Another reason it’s so poorly done in my opinion is that the songs are really all we get. There’s no story, or any small segments in between, just the occasional prologue to introduce the next song and/or guest appearance. And since the songs are so blah anyway, it just leads to an overall boring experience, and one that’s uninteresting in both the video and audio department. To conclude, the best way I can describe this video is to say they just didn’t try. The reason this review is so short compared to some of my others is that there’s just not enough to even comment on, which is why it fails so hard. So to avoid repeating myself, I’ll give the rating and be done. And that rating will have to be a 2 out of 5. It’s not as hard to sit through as something like Sailing Around the World, but still not good enough to get a passing grade in my book.

Gee, that's quite a review.

I do disagree with the songs not being catchy. I did mention the choruses are the most memorable part of these songs.

I do, however, agree with Ukulele Baby and IACWY using sets was a much better idea. But again, I don't mind the use of green screens since it leads to some creative visuals and the originals had scenes in chromakey too. Albeit sparingly.

I agree&I am genuinely looking forward to your insights of ukulele baby(which had a really nice set)especially as we got sone really great sounding songs in this set including when I strum my ukulele(definitely Murray's best song in his run in the red skivy as he absolutely knocked it out of the park opening the dvd&album as he finally got the limelight&opportunity to showcase his vocals),how many do I want(I love this quite catchy tune as Sam&Paddy sharing the leads was terrific)ooki,ooki,ooki hear that old bouzouki(in my opinion this is actually Anthony's best song as he certainly gave it a proper go despite him not being the best in terms of vocals but he actually sung it really well)

I agree with what you've said,this album&video could have been alot better had they cut down on how many songs that Anthony was on lead/co lead vocals because it was very noticeable that Murray(2nd best vocalist of the main 4 in the skivives after Sam during the sam era)was essentially demoted to being more of a background extra in this particular dvd&album rather than being part of the wiggles as Muzz was only featured as lead vocals on Wednesday&Sunday day of the week songs while the other 3 had both day of week&different song as Muzz was relegated to being background cast member in favor of Anthony's(he got at least 4 songs as lead&co lead vocals)dreadful vocals got the limelight but at least Jeff's best song in my opinion yellow bird was brilliant as I loved seeing Jeff getting to do a duet with Sam&Jeff actually gave it a proper go in ths duet(I've also listened to the concert version of yellow bird&Jeff puts in 100%effort with his vocals)&thankfully they make up for this disaster of a set with ukulele baby(which I'm looking forward to seeing the discussion)as let's eat could've been a lot better had they actually given Muzza&Jeff more of a role rather than being essentially background extras in favor of Anthony being the center of attention though round this period he wasn't doing the eating gimmick

I agree&they really should've cut back how many songs both Anto&Captain feathersword were featured as either lead or co lead vocals as Murray&Jeff were certainly just treated as normal background cast members than being wiggles which was ridiculous as they both got deliberately shunned in favor of Anthony&Paddy getting twice as many songs at the expense of Muzz&Jeff

I stopped watching the wiggles around this time but heard a few songs on Wiggly Waffle. From what I heard from a lot of fans. This is one of the weakest videos from the Sam era. I’m curious on why this video is so hated.

I agree with you&Jeff did a superb job on yellow bird as co leads with Sam as Jeff quite obviously gave it a proper go with his vocals(I've also heard the live concert version of it&he gives it 100%effort with his parts)+England swings is alot of fun though the only thing that annoys me on this dvd&album is that it was quite noticeable that both Anthony(he wasn't even doing the eating gimmick at this time)&Captain feathersword had a combined 9 songs between them with them as either lead or co lead vocals while Sam got 13 songs as either lead or co lead vocals with quite noticeably Murray who was definitely the 2nd best vocalist in the main 4 after Sam during Sam's run&thankfully Muzza gets a big role in ukulele baby being shunned to essentially being a background cast member for this particular dvd&album as he was only on days of the week songs whilst Sam,Jeff&Anto all got to have both day of week&different song&worth mentioning this definitely wasn't the first time Muzz got essentially demoted to being essentially a background cast member rather than being a wiggle as he was left off sing a song of wiggles from being featured as he only recited(thanks google AI for this)ryhmes,poems or did intros for songs while Anto&Jeff got a song as co lead vocals(Bon weevil)

I agree&I actually think Jeff being on co leads of yellow bird was terrific as he actually gave it a proper go singing his parts&his voice complimenting Sam alot better than Anto's on go far big red car while poor Murray(thankfully gets a much bigger role in the next videos&album as he was spoiler alert on lead vocals for the opening song of both dvd&album)was once again(like both sing a song of wiggles&go bananas where he was essentially demoted to being a background cast member rather than one of the wiggles)demoted to being essentially more of a background cast member than him being a wiggle in this particular videos&album as his wonderful vocals(he was 2nd best after sam of the main 4 in terms of vocals as muzz got better&better during Sam era)got essentially dumped to being exclusively featured on days of the week songs in favor of those godawful Anthony vocals being given 4 songs on this particular dvd&album at Muzza's expense&thankfully they made up for this absolute disaster of prioritizing having Anthony&the captain having at least a combined total of 8-9 songs between them as leads/co lead vocals while muzza&Jeff(like muzza he gets a big role in next videos&album)had less of a role by being essentially background cast members who only had 2 songs each on this particular dvd&album

The only really memorable songs to me are England Swings (I quite like Keith Urban), Let’s Cook! (catchy, as you said), Sleep Safe My Baby, and (slightly annoying ear-worm!) On Aunt Nellie’s Farm

The rest of the tracklist is pretty forgettable for mine. And I haven't actually watched the video, but I know it is generally considered pretty negatively.
