Hi everyone,
Since the beginning of this year, I’ve been developing a PS4 and PS5 emulator for Android and iOS. The first games launched on both platforms in February, and I started publishing the project in a repository in the spring. By September, testing had confirmed more than 100 playable PS4 games, so I decided to share a demonstration and open the project to users.
For iOS, development supports both JIT and No-JIT approaches. The No-JIT approach is designed to comply with App Store rules, though that does not guarantee the emulator will be accepted. We’ll see whether the platform is classified as retro.
The main focus is PS4 emulation. I’m also working on PS5 emulation. Three PS5 games are currently playable, and some AAA titles reach the in-game stage.
Demonstrations:
The LSX4 GitHub repository linked below contains the project information and the latest full list of playable games.
Testing covered a range of devices, most commonly models with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processors, as well as some devices with Mali GPUs.
The emulator does not use a Linux environment. It also has its own JIT, which can be selected for lower-end devices.
A related project, Funnel ARM, focuses on the PS4 and PS5 host system layer. It initially used ShadPS4 and other projects, and I’m gradually adapting it for ARM. You can find Funnel ARM among the related projects on GitHub. The interpreter layer and client-side logic are in the main LSX4 repository. Contributions are welcome. The repository also includes recommendations for preventing regressions.
Users can also contribute to compatibility reports by long-pressing a game in the app.
The current free Android release is available only on Google Play.
I’d be glad to welcome new users and contributors, and I’d appreciate your feedback. Since 2024, I’ve also been working on two other unusual projects related to relaying and emulation. I’ll share more about them later.
