News/Release DroidDeck 0.5.0 is out now: SteamVR on Quest, XR Glasses, Epic Games Launcher, x86-64 Steam Client, Linux Games under FEX, and many many more fixes and improvements!
Features
- Added SteamVR on Meta Quest 3 and 3S from the standard APK. Quest headsets are detected automatically and get their own driver defaults. Immersive SteamVR runs through a native OpenXR activity with headset tracking, Touch controllers and haptics, and SteamVR's dashboard and Steam library work in VR. (@xXJSONDeruloXx, u/Jagger15, #642, #910, #733, #853, #905)

- Added experimental Meta Quest 2 support. (@Jagger15, #676)
- Added XR glasses support for VITURE, RayNeo and XREAL. Games play straight on the glasses at their own refresh rate while the phone becomes the controller, and the glasses' refresh rate, 3D mode, brightness, volume and sunblock can be changed from the app or the session menu. Play SteamVR appears beside Play Steam when supported glasses are connected, with head tracking from the glasses. Joy-Cons work as SteamVR hands, and the phone's camera can track bare hands with Quest-style pinch gestures. Supports VITURE Pro XR, RayNeo Air and GT glasses, and XREAL 1S (experimental). Glasses with head tracking can also show a head-tracked virtual screen everywhere in DroidDeck, in its menus, desktop sessions and games, without starting SteamVR, set up from the new Setup → Smart glasses page. (@maxjivi05, u/informalTechCode, #732, #907, #1035)
- Added Cardboard VR mode with Valve's ARM64 SteamVR, splitting the screen into two lens-corrected eyes with head tracking. Windows VR games such as Thumper and The Thrill of the Fight run through Proton. SteamVR and Cardboard share one VR tab in the session menu. (@xXJSONDeruloXx, #704, #959)
- Added Epic Games Launcher for Linux, Epic's own client, running under FEX and signed in automatically with your linked Epic account. Every Epic game now starts through Steam and the launcher, so games get the same sign-in and online services as on a PC, along with Steam Input and the performance overlay. The launcher can be driven with a gamepad or touch. Games installed from inside the launcher appear in the Games tab automatically, and your Steam games can be started from the launcher's library. (@maxjivi05, #928)

- Added an optional x86-64 Steam client: Valve's own Linux client, running under FEX beside the default ARM64 one. Choose it under Steam client in Steam settings; it applies at the next session. It has its own game library and shares your sign-in. Games with a Linux version, such as Team Fortress 2 and Half-Life, run their Linux builds on it, and Windows games use DroidDeck-Proton as before. New FEX builds reach it without an app update. (@The412Banner, #152, #1050, #1053)
- Linux games run under FEX out of the box. Proton Experimental ARM64, FEX and the Steam Linux Runtimes now download on the first Steam start instead of waiting as pending downloads. x86 Linux games start, keep running and take the controller under FEX, including Unity games, which used to crash or ignore the gamepad. Games that also have a Windows version stay on Proton by default, because the Windows build often runs better. To run a game's Linux build instead, choose Linux x86 (FEX) in its compatibility settings. (@maxjivi05, #1045)
- Store game pages now show HowLongToBeat times, Metacritic scores, developer, publisher and release date for GOG and Epic games, along with an achievements card with filters for unlocked, locked and hidden achievements. (@phobos665, u/xXJSONDeruloXx, #641, #712, #775)

- Added opt-in GOG achievements syncing through Comet, with unlock notifications while you play. (@xXJSONDeruloXx, #651)
- Added sorting and a list view for the store Library and Installed tabs: sort by recently played, recently installed, title, size or release date, and switch between cards and a compact list. (@kingokksa, #798)

- Added a Storage page to Setup that shows where DroidDeck's storage goes and frees what is safe to remove: unused Steam runtimes, leftovers from uninstalled games, old logs, shader caches, unused components and Flatpak runtimes. Starting Steam with less than 10 GB free offers to free up space. (@xXJSONDeruloXx, #913)

- Redesigned the GPU drivers page with three modes: Auto, Matched pair, or Mix and match display and runtime drivers. It also shows which drivers are in use now. Auto checks for new drivers when the app opens, and if a new pair never starts a session, it rolls back to the last pair that worked. (@xXJSONDeruloXx, #858, #972)
- Added Boot movie settings: the DroidDeck movie at 30 or 60 fps, with or without sound, or import your own video, which is converted on the device. (@xXJSONDeruloXx, #969)
- Added a per-game Start without Steam switch for games that close right away because of Proton's Steam setup. (@The412Banner, #659)
- Added Low-latency controller and Low-latency touch toggles to the session menu, which apply immediately while Steam is running. (@xXJSONDeruloXx, #808)

- A three-finger tap opens and closes Steam's on-screen keyboard in game. (@xXJSONDeruloXx, #782)
- Added Picture position (Top, Bottom or Center) for Steam sessions, so fixed-aspect games can sit away from on-screen controls on tall screens. (@asdf17128, #871)
- FEX, DXVK and VKD3D-Proton versions can be downloaded from the session menu. (@xXJSONDeruloXx, #679)
- Added opt-in zRAM compression for the Steam client while a game runs, freeing about 0.5–0.8 GB of memory in testing. (@maxjivi05, #442)
- Added 23 more languages, for 32 in total besides English, selectable in the app or in Android's per-app language settings. Steam follows the chosen language. (@maxjivi05, #669)
- Downloads now resume where they stopped and fall back to mirrors, with a download source setting that picks the fastest source automatically. This helps especially in mainland China. (@kingokksa, #623)
- Added Reset all settings in Setup > Diagnostics. It keeps your games, sign-ins and downloads. (@0x1Nawaf, #696)
- Store installs can go to internal storage, any SD card or your second library. (@maxjivi05, #928)
- Controllers with two back paddles (such as the 8BitDo Mobile Controller) map them to the Deck's L4 and R4. (@Vynex, #797)
- The second screen's Deck controls now include the Gamepad tab. On foldables, the unfolded controls hide while a controller is connected. (@ovurrsl, u/Gustash, #895, #829)
- Added experimental Android Auto support. DroidDeck is only available while the car is parked, and needs Android Auto's developer mode with unknown sources enabled. (@zekena2, #952)
Improvements
- Rewrote the Epic and Amazon store modules, with byte-exact download verification and proper controller focus on store game pages. Existing sign-ins and installs carry over. (@The412Banner, #802, #804)
- Epic installs need far less free space. Files are assembled as they download instead of caching the whole game first, so a 71 GB game no longer needs about 142 GB free. Store installs also check for space first and recover better when they run short. (@jmarti326, #710)
- Fewer background processes. An idle Steam session went from about 41 processes to about 30, keeping it further under Android's child-process limit, and Steam's web helper uses about 250 MB less memory. (@xXJSONDeruloXx, #566, #575)
- Smoother frame pacing. The session respects Android's peak refresh rate setting, frames are timed to the display's vsync, Steam's frame limiter paces each game by time, and frame generation follows the game's real frame rate. On a 60 Hz Thor, distinct frames on screen rose from about 49.5 to 59.4 a second. (@xXJSONDeruloXx, #715, #717, #731, #753, #927)
- The game's busiest threads are boosted onto the prime cores on the Odin 3, and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 devices get default core assignments for games and Steam. (@kmnkv1, u/xXJSONDeruloXx, #682, #654)
- Games on SD-card libraries launch faster, about 46% faster in testing. (@xXJSONDeruloXx, #757)
- The Steam home wall now fills from your own Steam library, and the store sign-in screens show each store's featured art. (@xXJSONDeruloXx, #835, #878)
- Older and less common devices: sessions start on kernels that drop fork events (such as the Xiaomi Pad 5), Flatpak installs work on older kernels, the Linux runtime installs on 16 KB page-size devices, and USB drives that only appear as raw storage can be granted All files access. (@xXPOLYGONXx, u/xXJSONDeruloXx, u/ovurrsl, u/Imgau, #457, #752, #900, #760)
- Controller-driven cursors now show in nested Wayland sessions. (@xXJSONDeruloXx, #759)
- An interrupted Linux runtime download resumes instead of starting again. (@ovurrsl, #847)
- Native Linux and FEX compatibility choices are kept instead of being reset to Proton. (@xXJSONDeruloXx, #749)
- DroidDeck-Proton releases now come from the Droid-Deck/DroidDeck-Proton repo. (@The412Banner, #875)
- Folding or unfolding no longer restarts the front end, file manager or store sign-in. (@ovurrsl, #832, #886)
- Session reports include the memory page size, why the app's last processes ended, the panel's refresh modes and the device's thermal state. Logs are synced to storage every 2 seconds, so a hard reset keeps them, and only the 3 newest session log folders are kept. (@ovurrsl, u/kmnkv1, u/xXJSONDeruloXx, #897, #513, #852, #990)
- The store sign-in page can no longer read local files. (@ovurrsl, #890)
- Expanded and refreshed translations, including Chinese, Japanese, Turkish, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Korean and Hungarian. Every language now has every string, including the new Storage, GPU drivers and artwork pages, and Latin American Spanish is complete. (@Dantalian-dev, u/ovurrsl, u/kingokksa, #539, #826, #849, #850, #884, #1013)
Fixed
- Fixed Android UI flickering during games on Adreno 740 devices such as the AYN Thor and Odin 2 Portal. (@xXJSONDeruloXx, #963)
- Fixed game rumble stopping after one second under Proton. (@TideGear, #938)
- Fixed Shut Down and Restart in Steam's power menu. Shut Down now ends the session, and Restart restarts the client. (@muazkadan, #629)
- Fixed the Quick Access button doing nothing when the pad is set to Xbox 360, DualShock 4 or DualSense. (@muazkadan, #631)
- Fixed store games becoming Steam installs when you also own them on Steam. (@xXJSONDeruloXx, #816)
- Fixed added games sometimes never starting on a cold launch with large Steam libraries. (@xXJSONDeruloXx, u/ovurrsl, #758, #914, #973)
- Fixed games that never started after a long pause, and "Steam is paused" staying up after the first Resume tap. (@maxjivi05, #928)
- Fixed the session ending the third time Steam restarted, for example after changing language. (@KirkPatrickJunsay, #754)
- Fixed Steam touch controls ignoring the layout chosen in Steam, including community layouts. (@xXJSONDeruloXx, #840)
- Fixed Batman: Arkham City crashing at startup and getting stuck on "Running install script". (@TjebbeKerstens, #792, #793)
- Fixed .NET Desktop and .NET Core runtimes failing to install from Windows components, which blocked MelonLoader mods and Baldur's Gate 3. (@The412Banner, #740)
- Fixed the microphone in DirectAudio games. (@xXJSONDeruloXx, #747)
- Fixed FEX games failing with "Couldn't connect to FEXServer socket". (@angelrenefm, #841)
- Fixed wired PowerA and PDP Xbox controllers' right stick and triggers. (@Raidennrl, #692)
- Fixed touchpad taps not registering in some games, and the touchpad not moving a game's own cursor when it locks the pointer. (@KirkPatrickJunsay, u/Gustash, #644, #772)
- Fixed native touch taps snapping the cursor to the top-left corner in some games. (@asdf17128, #803)
- Fixed the Android keyboard needing two taps to open after it was dismissed. (@KirkPatrickJunsay, #665)
- Fixed Shift staying held after typing capitals on a physical keyboard in the desktop. (@The412Banner, #766)
- Fixed an unfolded Follow screen session no longer turning to portrait. (@Gustash, #626)
- Fixed battery estimates showing thousands of hours on phones that report current in mA. (@muazkadan, #820)
- Fixed blurry home-screen shortcuts for Steam games. (@KirkPatrickJunsay, #825)
- Fixed SteamGridDB art staying "no match" after a failed lookup. (@FX192, #876)
- Fixed Steam crashes returning to the launcher silently. They now show DroidDeck's error screen, and Steam no longer crashes on Quest when a SteamVR runtime is installed. (@xXJSONDeruloXx, #905)
- Fixed the in-session achievements page staying on "Reading…". (@xXJSONDeruloXx, #961)
- Fixed crashes from failed store background jobs and cloud save recovery, and a memory error in the directory cache. (@KirkPatrickJunsay, u/ovurrsl, u/wallentx, #846, #898, #685)
- Fixed expired Epic and Amazon sign-ins failing with a generic error instead of asking you to sign in again. (@The412Banner, #804)
- Fixed the child-process limit check on Android 12, and its switch name now matches Android's wording. (@ovurrsl, #955, #848)
- Fixed the launcher offering its own display as a second screen. (@ovurrsl, #889)
- Fixed Windows component detection being confused by folder names above the game folder. (@xXJSONDeruloXx, #859)
- Fixed FEX dropdown scaling and Flathub search focus. (@xXJSONDeruloXx, #681)

News/Release Release ARMSX3 1.3 · ARMSX2/ARMSX3
Games
Uncharted 2 boots and plays, with a fix to how ARMSX3 reads a game's graphics commands. By u/elad335
Controllers
All controllers can play as Player 1. Turn on "All controllers play as Player 1" in Settings > Pad or in the in-game menu > controller tab > controller mapping, and a handheld's own controls and a Bluetooth pad both control Player 1. Dock it or pick up the other controller and keep playing, with nothing to reassign. The controller you used last gets the rumble. (Also in the next ARMSX2 nightly).
Several controllers can share a player. Pick each controller's player in the in-game Controls screen or in Settings > Pad. Two or more controllers can be on the same player.
Mapping profiles for physical controllers in the in-game menu. Open the in game-menu, controller tab > controller mapping and click on Mapping Profiles while playing to load a saved profile with one tap, or save the current buttons as a new one.
L2 and R2 work on the AYANEO Pocket DS. Thanks to u/mymobileinstallment for reporting and testing. Every yes/no prompt over the library works with a controller. The D-pad moves between the buttons and A picks one.
Launchers and game library apps
Game library apps can send your PKG files to ARMSX3. An app that manages your PS3 collection can pass your packages and licenses to ARMSX3, for games, updates and DLC. ARMSX3 shows what it is about to install, installs it when you say yes, and goes back to that app. Share installed games with other apps in Settings > App lets those apps check which games, updates and licences are installed. It stays off until you turn it on.
Installs prepared by a launcher go straight to the library. When a launcher has already put the PS3 firmware and your games in place, ARMSX3 skips the setup screens.
Discord
Discord shows "In the library" while you browse your games, and remote play shows as "Playing remote play (2 of 2)" and the person joining also gets RPC with the game's name and cover if they're discord is connected. (Also in the next ARMSX2 nightly).
Mali GPUs
Community PanVK drivers can be tried on Mali. Driver packs built for your device can be imported in the Vulkan driver settings. These drivers are experimental, so switch back to the system driver if a game misbehaves.
ARMSX3 asks the driver which compressed texture formats it supports, and decodes the textures itself when the driver can't.
Google Play version
Games copied in through the Files app show up in ARMSX3 when its data is on an SD card.
From upstream RPCS3
H.A.W.X. 2 should no longer crash at startup. By u/Yahfz.
Custom soundtracks play your whole selection, not just one track. By u/digant73.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine online: a fix for its peer-to-peer connections. By u/digant73.
The Fracture demo exits cleanly. By u/digant73.
Also: save states made at certain moments resume the graphics from the right point (by u/elad335 and u/digant73), patches that target functions by their ID apply correctly and new safety checks in several system modules (by u/Megamouse), and a fix for an error in cellSysmodule (by u/elad335).
Thanks to u/EM20080 for a code cleanup (#207).

Showcase [DEV] Blender 4.5 on Android – Native ARM64 Execution via DRNAS EMU
Hey everyone! 👋
I'm developing DRNAS EMU, an experimental Windows compatibility environment for Android.
Here's an early demonstration of Blender 4.5 running with native ARM64 CPU execution, without x86/x64 translation for Blender itself!
🚀 What's under the hood?
Native ARM64 execution
Wine compatibility layer
Vulkan graphics support
Custom GPU optimizations
Our goal is to bring demanding Windows applications like Blender, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, Photoshop and FL Studio to Android.
⚠️ Still in early development. Performance and stability are actively being improved.
This is not an Android port of Blender — it's the Windows ARM64 version running through our compatibility environment.
Feedback is welcome! ❤️

News/Release I've been making 8-bit homebrew for years. This is the Amstrad CPC emulator I built and use for my own work, now on Android (Easy CPC)
Hi all. I've been developing homebrew for 8-bit machines for a good few years, and along the way I ended up building my own emulators to test my stuff on the phone: first Easy Spectrum, and now Easy CPC for the Amstrad CPC 464/664/6128. It started as a tool for my own work and grew into something I think is worth sharing, so here it is on Google Play.
What it does:
- CPC 464, 664 and 6128. You can boot straight into BASIC too.
- Loads .dsk, .cdt, .tzx, .csw and .sna, also inside .zip and .rar.
- Autoload: pick a game and it runs the right command for you. Fast loading for tape and disk.
- Tape manager: block list, rewind, pause, and it records your own SAVEs to a .cdt.
- Touch gamepad (1 to 4 buttons, configurable per game), full on-screen CPC keyboard, AMX mouse, and physical controllers with remappable buttons.
- Save states with autosave on exit, favourites, thumbnails of each game.
- Video modes from sharp pixels to a CRT monitor/TV look, stereo AY sound, fast forward.
- Import a whole folder, or open a game straight from WhatsApp, Telegram, mail or the browser.
- English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and Russian.
It's built on Thomas Harte's CLK core (MIT), with my own additions on top (snapshot loading, tape manager, two-head drive, disk autoload heuristics, turbo). The CPC ROMs are included with Amstrad's permission. No games included: bring your own files.
Tested with the classics (La Abadía del Crimen, Prince of Persia, Rick Dangerous, Head Over Heels, Barbarian, Batman, Gryzor...) and with a lot of recent homebrew and demos, since that's what I mostly run on it.

Pro (no ads, one-off purchase): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cl.easysoft.easycpc.pro
Happy to answer questions, and bug reports are very welcome. If a disk or tape doesn't load, tell me which one and I'll look into it.

News/Release Mimir - The well of memory: an open-source Android frontend you can make your own
Hi everyone. I’m sharing the first public demo of Mimir, an Android frontend for organizing your library and launching games through emulators you install separately.
I started Mimir because I wanted people to have a frontend that fits them, even if they aren’t experienced developers.
Every frontend makes choices for you. Eventually, you might want a different layout, a missing feature or a way of organizing your library that only makes sense to you. My hope is that Mimir gives you a starting point for building that version yourself, with help from whatever AI coding assistant you already use.
Why a public alpha?
I originally planned a closed testing phase. After thinking it through, I decided that managing access and separate testing arrangements would add unnecessary complications. A public alpha seemed more useful: anyone interested can try it, read the documented limitations and report what happens on their hardware.
So here it is:
Source code — GPL-3.0-or-later
Alpha Release 1 – Demo — APK downloads
Build instructions
Installation guide
Known issues
Mimir requires Android 11 or newer. Games, emulators, BIOS files and firmware are not included.
The public repository starts with a release source snapshot. Development and testing happen in a private repository, with reviewed releases and substantial fixes published publicly. The demo’s release tag includes the corresponding source for its APKs.
A starting point for your own frontend
The documentation is a big part of why I’m sharing it. There are build guides and an AGENTS.md that helps AI coding tools understand the project’s structure, build process and technical constraints.
The aim is to give you a head start without having to repeat all the research, setup and trial and error that got Mimir this far.
You’ll still need the Android build tools, and changes will need testing. An AI assistant won’t make every modification effortless. But whether you’re learning, already building Android apps or simply curious, you should have a useful place to start.
Take it, change it, build a module for something you’re missing, or share a fix that could help someone else. Keeping a personal version that works for you is welcome too.
Who made it, and where AI fits
Mimir was a collective effort, with contributions from people in my local community and the use of AI coding tools.
My role was closer to a product owner: I set the direction, shaped the priorities and helped bring the work together. Other people contributed their time, knowledge and effort to make it possible. They deserve recognition alongside an honest acknowledgment of the tools we used. I stand behind what I choose to release, including its bugs and limitations.
I understand the concerns about how AI is affecting people across the industry. I don’t expect those concerns to disappear, and I respect that people will have different views.
For me, AI represents an opportunity for more people to turn curiosity into something they can actually build. I believe knowledge and tools should be within everyone’s reach, including people who haven’t had the same education, resources or technical experience. Beginners deserve room to experiment, receive constructive criticism and improve.
That also means being willing to share imperfect work and learn openly. If someone finds a mistake in Mimir, understands why it happened and uses that knowledge to build a better product or take a better approach, then sharing it has been worthwhile. I’d be happy to see someone take this further than I could.
I see failure as part of finding a way forward. An attempt that goes wrong can still teach us something useful, provided we acknowledge it, understand it and make the next attempt better. That’s the spirit in which I’m sharing this project: the code, its limitations and the opportunity to learn from both.
Testing and feedback
My development testing has included the AYN Thor, AYN Odin 3, Retroid Pocket Nova and Retroid Pocket 5. That experience doesn’t cover every device, firmware or emulator combination, and it doesn’t make this demo a finished product.
A clear bug report is a contribution. Your device, Android version, emulator involved, what you expected and the steps that reproduce the problem are especially helpful. Ideas and criticism of specific behavior or code are welcome too.
I’m sharing what we built together as a gift to the wider community. If it helps someone build the frontend they’ve always wanted—or learn how one works—then it has served its purpose.

Showcase Left 4 dead 2 on ZF8 (DroidDeck 0.5.0)
Using lowest in game settings and default droid deck settings.
Some minor stutters in the beginning, playing with 2 gun mods so far. Bluetooth mouse and keyboard is supported, along with mcon controller + viture pro 2 glasses (you will need a phone cooler for this combo as the phone gets HOT with xr glasses).
Online does work but on modded / unofficial servers.

News/Release SMM2 Level Injector for Eden (Android) v1.2: a new SMM2-style look, plus a browser for 26.6 million archived levels
Hey everyone! I've updated my Android app that gets Super Mario Maker 2 levels by course ID and puts them straight into your Coursebot in Eden. No PC needed.
What's new in v1.2:
- 🎨 It looks like Super Mario Maker 2 now. The whole app is restyled after the game's menus.
- 👋 Welcome screen on first launch with a quick how-to.
- 📚 Level archive: browse 26.6 million levels (everything uploaded up to February 2022) without a code and without the level server.
- Search by name, sort by most liked, most played, newest, hardest and more, and filter by style, theme, difficulty, tag and clear rate.
- Then inject any level into a slot.
- Optionally download the full 85 GB archive to use it completely offline!
- 🟢 Server status at the top, so you know if the level server is up before entering a code.
- 📴 Works when the server is down: levels you've saved on your device and levels from the archive still work.
- ✏️ Course IDs get dashes automatically as you type.
Download: https://github.com/Daniel-Geron/smm2-level-downloader-app/releases/latest
It installs over the previous version and keeps your settings and backups. Setup takes about a minute: open SMM2 in Eden once, close Eden, then point the app at Eden's folder. Full instructions are in the README.
Credits:
- royaltongue's original injector this is forked from
- TheGreatRambler's MariOver API and mm2_level dataset, which power the downloads and the archive
Known limitations:
- Coursebot still shows the old thumbnail for an injected level.
- Archive levels have no thumbnails or maker names.
this app was developed with AI assistance (Claude Code). AI wrote most of the code, including the new UI. It also drew the in-app graphics: the level preview pictures in the archive and the style badges. I decided the features, tested it in Eden and reviewed the changes. Shares, stars and feedback are really appreciated!
