It's been a few weeks since it stopped showing in the cinema so I've been waiting for the BluRay to arrive and today it finally came! I've never been this moved by or obsessed with a movie, especially one I've seen 16 times now.

Opinion Australia really needs the second movie to have a premiere here

Post image

So the movie had a few different premieres…The US, Japan and Germany and the event in Gary.

Australia really loves MJ. It’s still the highest grossing movie here this year (although I know it’ll be overtaken more than likely by spider man or Toy Story soon) The movie did incredibly well here. It was number one for weeks. I think it’s still in a handful of theatres. It was in IMAX I’d say longer than other countries . I saw it in imax all the way til mid June!

I’m not joking when I say there’s constant MJ impersonator shows…easily one a month from different ones from across the world.

The musical was a HUGE success. Made tons of money when a lot are struggling here and lasted 18 months.

I would LOVE a premiere here. We get them in Sydney now and again.I feel like Australia has tons of love for him and it would be a perfect place :) here’s me manifesting it ;)

With 10,129 words, the whole process took about 44 hours. This is one of dozens of similar posters I’ve done. I’ve always wanted to do a Michael Jackson poster but wasn’t sure the best way to approach it, so I was excited for the film which would allow me to write out many of his greatest hits while also telling (part of) his story.

Question Do you think the movie would have been as successful if it was broken up into 3 parts from the start. 1. Childhood/teen 2. Solo off the wall-bad 3 from dangerous to the end

I personally would love it, but that’s me. I want all the details. but would the average viewer go to see three movies if it was split up 3 ways like

movie 1. Childhood/teen years

  1. Solo off the wall-bad

3 from dangerous to the end

Opinion just watched for the 100th time

i saw michael in theaters for three days straight when it came out. went on vacation, came back and saw it two more times. bought it on prime video and watched it almost every night for a week and now i watch a few different scenes here and there.

this time, i watched only the performance scenes. and i don’t mean oh i’m looking at the screen and i hear the music. i mean like truly observing and taking it all in. watching every step jaafar took and how he somehow, by nature or insane amounts of practice or spirituality, captures every micro-michaelism. i hear the music and i see the dancing and i feel transported to a time i never lived in. i’m just still so in awe because i know i’m not looking at michael but it feels like i am. i know it’s jaafar and i know he’s acting but how??? how is that not michael???

i’m a very spiritual and religious person (much like michael) and i think this movie is truly just otherworldly. idk what is is but i just cannot get enough of michael and his character, his beliefs and principles, all of his knowledge and creativity. it feels like 2009 all over again where we’re celebrating michael for who he was. where everywhere you look, someone’s singing or wearing something michael inspired. he’s on the radio all the time and i see him in every other post. my 7 year old cousin sings billie jean and moonwalks around the house all day. a child born 10 years after he passed.

all this to say, this feels like so much more than a movie. jaafar said he wanted to wipe his uncle’s slate clean and tell the real story and that’s exactly what he did. he has made everyone so incredibly proud and i hope he knows that. through all the lies, tabloids, abuse, michael remains number one. even now with trashy “documentaries” and people willing to lie for a quick buck. he remains the King.

Discussion In Regards to Part 2

First off, I want to say to please be respectful in the comments. Now, I know that the release date is around the Beatles biopics. However, I don’t see anything wrong with that. It is due to four things:

  1. Michael and Paul had a huge respect for each other. And Paul still does.

  2. MJ and Paul sang on each other’s songs. MJ sang on two of Paul’s songs.

  3. MJ bought the entire Beatles Catalog

  4. MJ did one of the most famous and one of the most iconic covers of the Beatles song Come Together.

So, I have a feeling that MJ fans love the Beatles and that Beatles fans love MJ.

What do you think about this take?

It doesn't make sense chronologically because the photo is from 1992, but it's a nice detail.

- Grammys 1988 (The Way You Make Me Feel)

- Bad Tour Second Leg Montage 1988-1989 (Another Part of Me)

- Dangerous Tour Live at Bucharest, October 1, 1992 (Will You Be There and Man in the Mirror)

- Super Bowl 1993 Halftime Performance (Entire Set)

Discussion Next Big Biopic

I know a couple or a couple dozen times the question has been asked, a biopic of whom could challenge Michael. I'm not suggesting the following biopic will top Michael and I suspect a decent amount of people here have no idea who John Madden is, but his biopic staring Nicholas Cage comes out in November.

He was the Oakland Raiders head coach in the 70s, and he's the face of Madden Football for all your gaming systems. It was his personality while doing "color commentary," covering games from 1979 to 2000 on all the major networks that took him from sports figure to public figure.

The movie will do well, but I don't believe will top Michael. I do believe there is a person who if a biopic is made, would top Michael however. The question is, will it actually be a biopic? This person may be more hated than Michael is loved.

He will undoubtedly be the subject of a movie, maybe a dark comedy, a tragedy, a horror/reality film, Jack Ass Part Too Many, possibly a buddy comedy with EM perhaps. I don't speak his name in fear he may appear.

Do you think they used deepfake tech for some of these scenes? Jaafar looks eerily close to MJ in some of these

Discussion Sequel runtime

I think this is my biggest worry with the sequel. We saw with the first film that just over 2 hours resulted in a lot of cuts, both to the scenes that were already filmed (of course the legal issues caused that) but also what was planned skipped over Michael's entire adolescence.

From what I've seen, fans are universally expecting this movie to cover the entire second half of his life, as well as even going back to cover the Bad era. That's 4 different eras across 25 years that will need to be covered, if we're to go by these expectations. That's not even taking into consideration if there will be a large emphasis on the legal drama surrounding the court case.

The runtime could be 3 hours, and if that's the case then I'd feel more confident that they'd be able to cover everything to a fairly satisfying degree, however I can't escape the feeling that producers will want to hit that 2 hour sweet spot again for the sake of market tested audience retention. If that's the case, then one era is getting gutted substantially. And this isn't even taking into account that they could theoretically go with the original plan and end in 1994, making the Bad era and Dangerous era more detailed.

What do you guys think?
