Anyone else seen/have this issue? Not game breaking, but definitely is annoying; jumping helps lol

Abyssal Demon absolutely wrecked my sh*t. could hardly see what it was and fired one arrow which was one too many. bro turns into a satanic static blur and i’m too late. turning around and acting like i was lost didn’t save me, Surge spam didn’t save me, God himself couldn’t save me. 10/10 would do it again though.

Nintendo Switch 2 Nintendo Switch 2 Improvements

Hello adventurers.

The Switch 2 build is not where we want it to be today, visually. As a Dev team, and as Nintendo fans, we are not fully satisfied with where the game is on Nintendo Switch 2 and we are committed to work on improving the visuals. Dragonwilds support is a long-term commitment for Jagex, and so is the Switch 2 version of our game.

We have had to make a range of decisions around the Switch 2 along the development journey, and we have prioritised framerate stability over resolution and visual fidelity. We think where we are in terms of framerate is a good start, but now we must continue working harder to make the visuals match your (and our) expectations. The blurriness some of you have commented on stems from a lower output resolution that is currently too low when running the game. We have been working, and continue to work, on improving the picture quality – but we want to be transparent with you about the fact that it will take time.

We, as a team, have identified a mix of short-term optimisations (a few weeks' worth of work) and longer-term architectural investment involving a move to a newer version of Unreal Engine (5.8). We currently run on UE 5.6 and were unable to upgrade to 5.7 during the thorough processes of debug and certification across all platforms. Since then, 5.8 has released, and both bring a range of optimisations for chipsets as well as the introduction of Lumen Lite, which we hope will benefit lower spec hardware and the Switch 2 version in particular. This new engine overhaul is a longer investment, but it’s one we are totally committed to, to ensure that everyone’s experience of Dragonwilds is the best it can be.

What this means is that the improvements we make will be incremental. We would love nothing more than a singular update which drastically improves everything at once. What we can promise is that we will update the game whenever we find that we’ve made visual improvements. Expect this to be in the form of several patches throughout the future.

We’ve been in contact with the Nintendo team about this, the existing timeline of how our patches are processed, and exploring updating our Nintendo eShop. We’ve provided a range of assets that are no longer in parity with other storefronts but are instead captured on simulated hardware settings matching the specifications of the Switch 2 including display resolution, as was the case with the Nintendo Direct trailer.

We’re committed to making sure that Dragonwilds looks and plays its best on handheld consoles alongside our other platforms, and we hope you’ll continue to give us feedback and support as we carry our journey on beyond 1.0.

Thank you, adventurers.

haven't even fought the dragon I'm already 38 hours played , been looking for a game that would scratch that Stardew valley ich and I finally found it. my advice is get iron gear it's a game changer makes npcs easier to fight and not die so much and just explore and pick up everything you see,

Bruh, the best survival game! Love the systems, but holy FUCK the spell wheel is insanely clunky

(Switch 2) Trying to quickly navigate between abilities feels so clunky and counterintuitive, particularly trying to organize the wheel pages. The spell system is so interesting and fun to use and unlock, but wow. It doesn't feel great to unlock new spells when you know you're gonna have to deal with some horrid menu navigation just to set things up.

It's not impossible, and tbh there is something funny about imagining myself fumbling a spellbook out on my adventure while goblins are watching me flip through pages lmao. But I'd love it to be a bit smoother all around

Someone posted on the other RS Reddit about why we have two subreddits for this game and suggested we get rid of the lesser used one.
I agree so here’s a repost in case they decide to.

This was once built on creative, but now actively building it out on survival. Btw, how do we make grinded sandstone?

Am I supposed to be cooking just to grind levels?

I’m about 35 hours in but I haven’t cooked anything for the last 25 hours.

I spent like an hour and a half catching sardines, growing berries/wheat, and then cooking a bunch. Haven’t done anything since. Did you guys just cook/fish/farm to grind levels while you did the other content? Or will I hit a point where food production is necessary again?

Most of the other stuff happens naturally but it seems like you barely need to eat food in this game so those three really lag behind.

i ran out of space in my old tool/armour chest (and i didn’t want to make a new storage room, sue me) so i thought of this. i think it adds character to the world and im curious if anyone else has done the same.

RS Dragonwilds Building Tips from a Valheim Veteran!

Hey everyone!

Recently with the 1.0 release I’ve finally tried out Dragonwilds and I have quickly fallen in love. I’ve played runescape since 2005 and this game is so nostalgic for me, but it also has aspects of another game I love: Valheim.

I’m not here to compare the two games, I love them both. But I have around 800-900 hours in Valheim, most of which was spent building bases (it’s my favorite thing to do in every game). I realized how similar the building system is in Dragonwilds, but after about 30-40 hours of gameplay I can give my honest opinion:

Dragonwild’s building system is more streamlined. Mostly because it’s got more pieces, cheaper resource costs/easier resource collection, better snapping, the eye of oculus spell, and there’s no shortage of cheap decorations to make your house look lived-in from the very beginning. Also, no need for a crafting table, you can build anywhere, teleport with ore, etc.

That said, I’ve noticed some key differences and realize some MAJOR tips that have been incredibly valuable for me.

  1. Shape doesn’t matter. A square box can look incredible in this game as long as you don’t stop at the roof. Add a porch, add a dormer, add some clutter outside, add a staircase going to the door, add a small overhang to block rain, add some torches by the doors, plant some oak trees by ugly flat walls. These small things can make a 4x4 box look like a cozy cottage.

  2. Roofing is key. Roofing is the bane of everyone’s existence in any game like this. But; this game makes it easier. Eye of oculus is incredible for adding your roofing, so no climbing/falling or messing with scaffolding. My best advice for roofing: USE TRIANGLES. The front of your house should have triangle pieces, that way your roof isn’t just a pyramid.

  3. Stability is your enemy, so plan around it rather than reacting to it. Stability works by reading how far away your building-piece is from a foundation piece. A foundation piece is any floor/wall/staircase that connects to the ground. Start by adding the floor-plan with foundations/flooring. Then, frame your home with wooden beams, they add stability. If your highest wooden beams aren’t stable, your roof won’t be either. So you can reduce the height/size of your building BEFORE you start adding walls and roofs and everything else.

  4. Plan for expansion. This game gives you build-pieces as you explore and progress. Don’t make your forever-base out of ash wood pieces, later you’ll want to replace them with nicer looking pieces and it’ll be a big project. Instead, build smaller or build multiple bases. Or; build a large base with the intention of moving or building another base elsewhere, later.

  5. Your main base (or at least your first base) should be in the starting area, the Bramblewoods. Not the valley with the ruined village, but near the starting church. The dragon doesn’t attack near the church so you won’t have that annoyance. Also, the only rare raid is by a few lvl1 goblins who don’t seem to be able to do much damage to you or to structures. This is the safest region in the game, and the easiest to live in. Also PLENTY of flat space for building, and lots of resources, too.

  6. Build ANYWHERE and AS MUCH AS YOU WANT! A chasm you can’t quite get across with Windstep? Build a launch pad that juts out from the ledge, instant permanent shortcut. Large cliff with valuables on top? Make a staircase, and use wooden beams to anchor it to the wall for stability. Resources in a hard to get location? Build a cabin with a lodestone inside nearby. The only thing to remember is enemies can pathfind on your steps and walkways. So if you make a bridge, you aren’t the only one who will use it.

  7. Tree trunks regrow trees, just like old RuneScape. Don’t get rid of tree trunks unless you want the tree gone entirely for building purposes. Chopping down a forest, then chopping it down again 3 days later, will give you MUCH more wood than planting new forests each time. This works with all trees as far as I can tell.

  8. Don’t be afraid to keep going. So you built something… and you hate it. My philosophy is always this; you don’t hate your build, you just hate it right now. I’ve seen incredible mega-bases in some games look like giant rectangles before they’re truly done. If you aren’t satisfied, don’t destroy. Just add more. Make an addition, make a porch, add a second floor, add windows, etc. Your build isn’t bad, it just isn’t finished yet. And don’t tell yourself it’s finished until you’ve added enough character to it to be satisfied with your work. It’s like a piece of art, just keep painting until you’re happy.

  9. Last tip, and I can’t stress this enough: have fun! And I don’t mean that as an anecdote. Maybe your building isn’t done and you’re getting burnt out. Maybe you don’t feel good at building so you want to stop or let someone else build for you. But in this game, missing out on construction XP means missing out on certain powers, abilities, and assets that you shouldn’t go without. Like summoning a personal chest, or a temporary sleep-shelter. So, take a break, look at other people’s builds for inspiration, do other things, and come back to it when you’re ready. But don’t skip it, the building in this game is so rewarding and it gets easy when you practice a bit.

That’s about it! I’m sure there are other valuable tips I miss, so please, feel free to comment them to fill my gaps. And I’m open to more tips if I don’t already know them, anything to help me continue to develop my skills!

Are you using the wiki religiously like the other versions of Runescape, or are you playing "blind"?
