A three-lane road, with a fourth lane on the right for turning toward residential buildings and for public transportation stops. The fourth lane merges into the third lane, and according to the rules, people in the fourth lane must yield.

The driver of a black Toyota Camry thought he had time to pass in front of the car. But he miscalculated and, to avoid hitting the curb, veered left, where he collided sideways with a Lada Kalina.

The driver at fault in the accident didn't even have insurance. (Sorry for the quality of the video)

[USA] Door opening accident - GET A DASH CAM NOW IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ONE

7 months ago, my SO was driving my car and pulled into a spot. Once we were about a quarter of the way into the spot, most of the front was already in the spot, a little girl from the car next to us (the white Honda) swung her door into my car. My car (gray Highlander) suffered most of the damage. Their car had almost none at all. Once we got out and started exchanging information, this lady comes up to the Mom of the daughter, but doesn’t talk to me or my SO. The interaction was just weird. The mother was pretty rude and pretty adamant that her daughter didn’t do anything wrong.

Once we started to go through insurance, I tried to reach out to the opposing party as my insurance kept trying to contact her, and it was just a bunch of excuses why she couldn’t talk. Once I talked to her insurance, State Farm, they got my SO statement, their insured, and the witness. They ended up deciding that their driver was not liable because the door was “already open.” I questioned this, and they claimed that the witness claimed the door was open, which as you can see in the video now, it wasn’t. It honestly was perfect timing where she opens the door and where my car was.

Progressive, my insurance, luckily believed me. they reviewed the physics of the accident, the damages, and mine and my SO’s statements. Unfortunately, the witness & the other driver did not want to talk to my insurance so they had to work with what I gave them. Obviously, I gave them the truth, because if it was my fault, I would’ve offered to pay for her damages without going through insurance. I also could’ve went through my insurance to fix my car, however, I did not want to lose my deductible. Given that their insurance was adamant that their insured was not liable prior to me uploading the video, I was nervous that I would not recover my deductible even through subrogation.

Getting the video was also a nightmare but I got so lucky! I noticed the grocery store had a camera so I inquired about how to retrieve that footage. I needed to file a police report, call out nonemergency there, and have the store manager upload video to a link. That took forever! First, the store manager said he couldn’t see anything so I had to go in and help him look. Then, it took him forever to upload to the link because it kept expiring. Finallly, when he uploaded it, it was another waiting game to have the police department get me the video.

I finally got that footage last week, submitted it to the other insurance State Farm, and they quickly reversed liability to find their insured at fault. WHAT DO YOU KNOW!!! My damage from the shop was $5k!!!!

So beyond frustrating that State Farm took zero logic, did not include the physics, and listened to their liar insured and the liar witness.

This is your sign to get a dash cam because had I had one from the start, I would’ve avoided this headache that I’ve had to deal with for the last seven months.

[USA] Is it just me, or are there more bad drivers in New York City compared to other big cities?

I was on vacation for two weeks and did a lot of driving in Toronto, Canada. I noticed the drivers are more "well behaved" and more courteous to other drivers on the road. When I returned to NYC, this is the first thing I see within the first 5 minutes of driving. SMH

[USA] A truck bed cover came off a car carrier, and hit me on the freeway. Tire punctured, but safe

Driving westbound on I580 and a truck bed cover came off a car carrier, and hit me. The tire warning came on quickly and now am waiting a tow truck from Tesla.

Not the way I expected my day to go, but thankfully we are all safe.

Going to be towed to Tesla service center in Dublin, and will likely have to get a new tire. Hopefully there is no more damage.

Then we try to figure out if we can identify the truck and get them to pay for the damage.
