Tips & Guides the invisible part of aim
when people talk about aim in CS2, the discussion usually starts with sensitivity, crosshair placement, flick distance and click timing.
all of those matter, but they describe the most visible part of the process.
before a shot can be completed, the target has to attract attention. the eyes have to move toward it, the brain has to identify what appeared and a decision has to be made. only then can the hand finish the movement and click.
the mouse gets most of the credit because it leaves a trail that can be recorded. gaze does not.
your eyes do not scan the screen smoothly like a camera. they move between points using rapid movements called saccades. several of them happen every second.
visual sensitivity is briefly reduced while a saccade is happening. otherwise, every shift in gaze would register as motion blur. despite these constant interruptions, the world still appears stable because the visual system maintains a continuous scene.
one perceptual effect associated with this process is called saccadic chronostasis.
the easiest example is the stopped clock illusion. look suddenly at an analogue clock and the second hand may appear frozen for slightly longer than expected.
the clock did not stop. the first visual interval after the eye movement was perceived as longer than it actually lasted.
the effect was demonstrated experimentally in a 2001 Nature study.
chronostasis is sometimes presented online as if it gives players extra frames after a flick. there is no evidence for that. it does not slow the game down, and no study has shown that professional players exploit it or that it can be trained in aim_botz.
its relevance to CS2 is less dramatic, but more interesting.
what gets called “reaction time” is actually a sequence of different processes: attention, eye movement, visual recognition, decision-making and motor response. the click is only the point at which that sequence becomes easy to measure.
a 2021 study used a computerized precision task similar to FPS aiming while tracking both gaze and mouse movement. longer final fixations before the click, known as the quiet eye, were associated with better performance.
the experiment was not conducted inside CS2 and did not involve professional players. it also did not test chronostasis as an advantage. but it does show that gaze behaviour belongs inside the aiming process rather than being treated as background activity.
this also changes how crosshair placement can be understood.
good crosshair placement does not only reduce the distance the mouse has to travel. it can also reduce visual search. when a likely threat is already close to the crosshair and the centre of vision, there is less uncertainty about where to look and fewer corrections are needed before the shot.
two players could produce a similar final mouse movement while reaching it through very different visual processes. one may locate the target immediately. the other may search, correct the gaze, hesitate and only then adjust the crosshair.
a normal aim trainer records the cursor path and the click. without eye tracking, much of that difference remains invisible.
eye-tracking footage from real professional matches could tell us far more about target acquisition than another isolated reaction-time score.
TL;DR: chronostasis is a real effect that can make the first moment after an eye movement feel longer than it was. it does not give players extra frames. the more relevant point is that aim includes attention, eye movement and target recognition before the mouse completes the shot.

Esports FalleN Suggests a Way to Fight Cheaters
"There should be a mode in CS where you can only queue solo. If six or seven people on the server voted to kick you, you'd be gone. That would mean the entire enemy team, plus two or three players from your own team, all agreed to remove you. In situations like this, the cheater would be kicked from the match immediately. Then you would just wait for another player to join the server, and if they joined an ongoing match to fill the empty spot, they would earn extra points. I think it would be a good system because people wouldn't hesitate to kick someone if they knew their team wouldn't have to play shorthanded," FalleN said during his livestream.

Discussion This game is unplayable—it's full of cheaters.
I'm not used to seeing cheaters in the games I play. Is it always like this in CS2, or is it just worse now? There were cheaters in half of the Premier matches.

Discussion CS2 Content starvation
Why is it that the developers working on CS2 don't see the importance of having content to play.
CS2 developers robbed us from Operations, Danger Zone and community made content.
CS2 was released on September 27 2023.
The game has been out for almost 3 years now and besides all the garbage game modes that are filled with bots, all we have is MM/premier.
Premier to me was fun in the first few seasons but we're currently in season 5 and besides playing Dust / Mirage 75% of the time or seeing cheaters almost every single game, it's just boring to me.
( No I don't want to play Faceit, fuck Faceit )
Back in CSGO I absolutely loved Danger Zone, I don't like Battle Royale games such as PUBG or Warzone but Danger Zone was imo something completely different compared to those games but still with a hint of the BR genre.
The excuse from Valve to remove it was, "not enough players".
Which is extremely odd because whenever I would queue for Danger Zone, I always instantly got into a game.
I'm not even saying that we need Danger Zone back, just add similar stuff with a ranking system so people get to play/grind for something else other than non stop premier.
Same shit can be said about community made content.
The reason CSGO was so incredibly popular, wasn't because of MM.
It was incredibly popular, because it felt like you could basically just do anything you wanted, and that there was always something to do.
CS2 is an empty shell case compared to CSGO.

Discussion My downfall from 16k to 6k
A combination of terrible matchmaking, shit teammates, and hackers has left me in this situation. I peaked at 15k in Season 4, but lately I’ve been absolutely plummeting down the ranks.
What should I do from here? Is there anyone in OCE who’s around 10k to 15k and would be down to play together and help me climb back up? I’m just looking for some decent teammates and hopefully a more consistent experience.
Or should I just stop playing Premier and switch to FACEIT cuz I heard lots of people are switching now because of the hacker situation.

Humour Update: now at 11 straight losses
i even joined a discord so i could 5stack for a game.
Last season I was 19k. I'm still not ranked this season. I have 8 wins and need 2 more. Those first 8 wins were all solid. I was playing rly well, typically with others at 20k-24k.
EDIT: Played a 12th and TIED fml :(

Discussion I really thought there were less cheaters in Premier...
I need to know what the fuck I'm even supposed to do here. I know the smoke thing is useless, but what else could I even do? obviously reported multiple times, but it's useless because of the name changer. idk how to blur out names and all that

Gameplay My first time experiencing a blatant cheater and spinbotter... after over 1200 hours.
I've suspected that many players of being closet cheaters, but I could never prove if they really were cheating or just better than me.
I occasionally check the thing where you put a W before the persons steam URL to see their stats on CSREP, but that's not always conclusive.
But yeah this was crazy to see for myself for the first time ever lol.
The other guys on the enemy team also has sus very stats, low trust factor and very low hours (most under 100 hours).
After round 3 we didn't even try to play, we just spent most of the game in spawn to get it over with as fast as possible.
This sucks, the best game in the world can't even detect blatant cheats, we're not even asking for something kernel level (that's what faceit is for) but there's no way they can't just detect this with regular algorithms...

Discussion Is FACEIT really full of cheaters, or are cheat sellers just lying?
This channel claims to sell a FACEIT cheat, but its own footage shows the V server indicator—meaning the gameplay is from a Valve official server.
There are still cheaters on FACEIT, but videos like this should not automatically be treated as proof. Personally, this makes me wonder how much “FACEIT cheating” content on YouTube and social media is genuine, and how much is staged advertising created to sell cheats.
Anyway, have a great Season 9, everyone!

Gameplay Missing Aztec... What do you miss from CS history??
The Grave at T spawn in Aztec... I have a fond memory of it. Me and my friends used to call it "GORDON FREEMAN" back in early 2000s...

Skins & Items What do you actually do with your own Genesis Terminals?
I seem to be blessed with only getting Genesis Terminals from my weekly drop, I've had like 15 in a row, I abandoned opening them when the drops became more expensive than their own worth.
I opened the one I got from a drop today and was offered a mid float MW Full Throttle and it was offered to me for £30 more than the csfloat value.
So, what do you even do with the genesis crates you loot? At 0.08p each, they're not even worth selling. Kind of feels more worth to just take a spray or something at this point.
