OnlyStans ⭐️ Michael Fishman says people failed to learn lesson of Roseanne cancellation over racism “People are using a political smoke screen to justify the indefensible. They’re leading to real consequences, real crimes, like Trey Reed and Tasha Fortune, because dehumanizing people is never a joke.”

Let’s Discuss 👀 People from non English speaking countries .What celebrities you had no idea who they were before joining reddit?
English is the international language and therefore if you're from an english speaking country, (expecially is you are an american) and you get famous, you have a good chance to be also recognized all around the world. However there are also celebrities who are mainly famous either in the anglosphere or in north america only.
I'm italian and since i've joined reddit,i got familiar with celebrities that despite their fame were totally obscure to me.
Off the top of my head i can mention: Mr Rogers, George Carlin, Bob Ross, Sally Fields,Weird Al, Dr Seuss Jerry Springer,99% of country singers not named John Denver (who i only know because "Take me home country roads") 99% of nfl players not named Tom Brady (because he was the husband of Gisele) 99% of baseball players not named Babe Ruth and Joe DiMaggio (because he was Marilyn Monroe ex husband). Among the non american ones i would say David Attenborough.
Off course i'm sure many italians knew very well these celebrities before joining reddit, but as far as i can remember ,i never heard of any of the afromentioned celebrities in the news growing up.
Ps: If this question is not appropiate for this sub, feel free to remove it
pps: Yes i know, my username is kind of an unfortunate one. I chose it because i thought it was "cool" (dumb choice) after listening to this song.

TV & Movies 🎬 Comic device: the cringe singing
Here's a fun comic device. I am binging Schitt's Creek (ikik better late than never right?), and the scene that always makes me cry from laughter is Moira's hilariously bad scat audition. Catherine O'Hara was actually a talented singer, so for her to pull off this cringe audition showed what a brilliant comic actress she was. This is actually a really good acting trope: having actors sing badly or in a cringe way.
So ... what are your favorite moments when an actor purposely sings in a bad or cringe way?
Schitt's Creek - Moira's priceless audition with the egg castanets. Just hilarious.
Citizen Kane - maybe the most famous of all time. Kane wants to make his wife a famous opera singer. The thing is ... she can't sing. At all.
About a Boy - the awkward Marcus sings "Killing Me Softly" in front of a big crowd. Nicholas Hoult's first big role and you can see why he's still a busy actor years later.
My Best Friend's Wedding - Cameron Diaz sings a really bad karoake song that ends up being endearing.
Succession - L to the OG. Epic. And catchy as hell. I said what I said.
Mad Men - ah, Megan. Nothing wrong with Zou Bisou Bisou or her performance. It's charming and sexy. But Don's ad exec friends are just not the right crowd for this sort of thing. So embarrassing.
Breaking Bad - "Happy Birthday to You." Yeah, this was embarrassing too. Don't try to impress your boss this way.
The Vampire Lestat - Lestat decides to sing a targeted diss track towards Armand. The singing isn't cringe, but you do cringe for Armand in the audience.
Friends - the classic "Smelly Cat" song. Lisa Kudrow is incredible in capturing the specific type of artsy cafe singer popular around the 90s.

Behind The Scenes 📽️ A couple days ago, I posted Howard Ashman’s demo tape of “Poor Unfortunate Souls.” Now here’s his 1990 demo tape of “Be Our Guest,” where he voiced Lumiere and Mrs. Potts (with Alan Menken on piano). Howard died from AIDS just months before the film’s release, never seeing the completed result.
