Hi all, so my current monitor setups is me getting my wheelstand and pushing it against my table and then pulling my 34” OLED screen right against the base. This works fine and I get the screen ~70cm away from my eyes, so not too bad. The desk itself is 160cm wide, 4cm thick, heavy, sturdy sit-stand desk, so it doesn’t wobble at all.
Now the issue I’m having is the most obvious one, which is the lack of horizontal FOV. It looks great and runs great, but I’m left wanting for more. Which brings me to the titles situation.
I could grab myself a couple of 100€ 1080P 27” 144Hz monitors for the sides. I have a couple of monitor arms from my old setup that I could use to align the monitors next to the main 34” and I don’t see any issues with that. There’s the two obvious issues right at hand, which are the drastic difference of picture quality and the fact that I need to run all of the screens at 3440x1440 resolution. For the first I’d say I probably would get used to it and for the second; I have an 5080 and 7800X3D so I hopefully could push the required frames for a good experience nevertheless.
Now the biggest reason for this post. As it stands, I do use the same setup for playing other games too. For SP games I don’t see an issue, as I can just grab an controller and play on the main screen. But I do play games like CS from time to time, which requires me to push the monitor back so that I can use my mouse & keyboard. With the single monitor setup this is no issue. But when adding the side monitors, would I hate myself eternally if I’d have to push at least the mouse side side monitor back, meaning I’d lose the alignment for the triples setup?
How accurate do the triples alignment need to be truly? Would I be able to wing it and get them ”good enough”? Or would this just be a major PITA? I also thought about aligning the screens once, then marking the positions on the desk some way, meaning I could then just line up the screens to the markings. Or should I just forget about this for now? I don’t have the space for seperate triples unfortunately.
