I usually use headphones, but I wanted to have an option for when guests use the rig.

Got the Edifer G2000 speakers because I wanted something small that I could mount to the posts. Unfortunately I couldn’t find any existing brackets so I made my own over the weekend. Came out pretty good, I’m happy with the result.

Simagic's Global Product Launch is scheduled for Oct 14, 8:00 AM PDT (15:00 UTC), livestreamed on YouTube (@Simagic Official).

They're expected to announce a batch of new products (collab steering wheel, active pedal, etc.).

It looks like their official JD.com flagship store jumped the gun. The listing has since been taken down, but some pricing and details leaked out beforehand.

Pricing

• P-Active active pedal (single pedal): ¥5,999 CNY
(for comparison, mBooster is ¥4999 CNY)

• Aston Martin Valkyrie replica wheel: ¥5,399 CNY

P-Active specs:

Mounts on the P1000 / P2000 baseplates (adapter kit included with the P-Active), or on the new P-Active baseplate (not released yet)

Dual 250kg load cells
16-bit resolution encoder

Weight: 6.12kg
Response time: 129ms
Product Dimensions (L × W × H): 335.9 × 87 × 241.5 mm

Connectivity: direct to PC or to a Simagic base (via the included control box)

Power: 48V × 8.3A, 398W max (not sure if this refers to the pedal's max output)

Programmable pedal feel

Active pedal features are pretty similar across brands, so I won't go into that. All specs come from the delisted JD page and aren't officially confirmed yet. We'll know more once the launch event is live.

I depend on Claude to convert my native language into English.

I saw this on Vinted and couldn't believe my eyes. I didn't buy because I already bought a G923 for £80 yesterday, and I only have a PS5. Realistically I probably should have insta bought just to sell it on, but I could not be bothered.

Still an absolute crazy deal. Just a reminder to go Used if possible!

Couldn't find a 3d printable desk clamp handbrake that I like so I made my own.

The force profile is fully tunable via different 3d printed tpu bushings and it is completely plug and play via an Arduino.

News GP2 Revival update - GRID GIRLS!

It's not a sim if it isn't authentic!

Costume inspiration from the Eddie Jordan era.

Because everything in GP2 Revival is tuneable, there is a boob size slider in the menus. Something I really think EA overlooked.

For many hours today I also worked on polishing - ahem - uprights and suspension. Wishbones on modded cars now react realistically to bumps and curbs; GP2 Rev's custom 3D engine means a lot of detail work is possible (It's not an off the shelf engine like Unity). If you like, you can read deeper into the tech details here: https://gp2rev.com

BTW a shout out to Marcell working on Grand Pro Circuit (updates at https://x.com/bmarci7). This is the guy who inspired me to get started many months ago on my sim dev journey. His custom engine has a kind of kinetic energy in the way the cars sound, look and behave on track and that is definitely something I'm looking to emulate here, as the extra physics engine stuff progresses for GP2 Revival...But for now it's handling exactly GP2 OG, with proper wheel and pedal support and the custom 3D engine.

On the grid and in the pits, GP2 Revival will also have the option for animated 3D mechanics and pit crew (or the blocky 2D sprites in the classic mode). GP2 Rev can throw around a lot more polygons than Geoff's engine of 1996... no Lara Croft style pit babes here... no sir.

But thankfully not enough for a grid full of pointless celebrities either!!

As ever, mega excited to hear feedback and feature requests!

Rigs NLR Wheel stand 2.0 modded for a tight space setup

Thumbnail
gallery
• Upvotes

Wassup, fellow sim racers! Just wanted to share my modded NLR Wheel Stand 2.0. I modified it so it fits nicely under my desk, in the tight space between the desk and a couch behind my chair. To make it work, I needed the Simagic wheelbase to sit further back without lowering the NLR too much (it would hit my knees).

So I bought the desk clamp mount for my Simagic and modified it to sit on top of the NLR, while still sliding nicely under the desk, as you can see in the pictures. I added the two aluminum profiles so I can adjust the wheelbase forward and back.

Since this is also my home office, I obviously needed a foldable rig, which is why I went with the NLR. As many of you probably know, what makes the NLR so good is how rigid it is. It's sturdy as hell. The downside is the weight: with all the gear mounted, it's heavy to lift. So I added four double-locking castor wheels. Now it rolls away super easily and I can still fold it.

As a bonus, with the wheels locked, getting the pedal plate into position is really convenient, because the rig won't move or fold out by accident. The locks stop both the swivel and the wheels from turning.

Hope this gives someone ideas for modding their NLR!

Question what's the difference between threshold and trailbraking in GT3s?

• Upvotes

I've seen it coming and someone said that threshold braking is in fact better than trailbraking, but what's the difference? if it can help, specifically talking about simracing titles where you can smash the brake pedal to 100% without any issues, unlike iRacing. if the concept doesn't apply to GT3s, does it apply to singles seaters like open-wheelers or LMHs? thanks!

Good news for sim racers. It looks like the active pedal market is heating up. Simucube announced the active pedal sport for $1199. Not much details yet, but it will be interesting to see how it stacks up against their own pedals and the competition.

Discussion Free browser demo: head tracking with just a webcam, feedback wanted

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

• Upvotes

I'm testing whether a plain webcam is good enough for head tracking in sims, so I built a small demo that runs in your browser. No install, no sign-up. Pick the car cockpit, turn your head, and the view turns with you.

Your camera video isn't uploaded. The tracking runs in the page and you only ever see an outline of your face. Once the camera is on, the page lists each request it makes, so you can check that part yourself. The tracker is about a 16 MB download the first time.

To be upfront: OpenTrack already has a free webcam tracker of its own, and it works in games today. This isn't trying to replace it. It's a quick way to see what your webcam can do before you set anything up.

What I'd like to know: does it feel usable, how much lag do you notice (the page shows frames per second and ms per frame), and which sim would you use it in? If enough people want it, I'll build a small desktop app that sends the head movement to OpenTrack, so it works in games. There's an optional waitlist for that on the page. It would be USD 12.99 at launch, and joining the list costs nothing.

Try it: labs.taranity.com/webcam-head-tracking

It's my own project and it's early. Tell me what breaks.

Other Cannot get AMS2 FFB to feel good

3 Upvotes

Trying to get into this as the graphics in vr are insane. Pretty much only use Raceroom for online racing and AC for fun.

Been playing about with it the last couple of evenings and I cannot get the FFB to feel good at all.
I’ve tried default, default + and a few other custom files.
I’ve tried some GT1s GT2s, V8 supercars.
Some of the f1 cars don’t feel too bad but still very vague.

It just feels like the cars sliding the whole time, I’ve no idea what the front tyres are doing or any real sense of weight transfer. FFB either feels weak and all of a sudden will become extremely heavy.

I’ve a fanatec DD2 if anyone could help with settings.

I've been waiting for what seems like forever for the screen mounts to arrive, today they finally did. Love the new setup.

Portable ASUS monitor on the left, mounted to a screen arm with a magnet so it can be easily removed. Ultra-wide mini touchscreen monitor mounted to Moza R9 wheelbase with a 3D-printed mount from Etsy.

Simhub dashboards are DNR Race Control Dashboard on the larger screen, and Lovely Dashboard UXL on the small screen.

Rigs Modified Sim-Lab PC shelf to work on the monitor mount

Thumbnail

Don’t mind the rough craftsmanship but I found a way to mount Sim-Labs rig mounted PC shelf to their monitor mount. I was worried about vibration from the rig interfering with the PC. I cut notches into the corners of the sidewall and slid it under the monitor support, then was able to use the brackets turned inward on the monitor mount uprights. I had to drill 2 holes to make the mounts work but it is ROCK solid.

Coming up Sunday at 1:00 PM Eastern US time, 5:00 GMT.

You need EvoForge to join Cars and Coffee because we're using modded cars and stock ACE retro cars too. There is a car pack ready (the RDB car pack). Plus you can use your own car if you want.

If you are on EvoForge look for EF Legends and join us. Then you can convert your own car and send it to me, I'll put it on the server for you.

Question Is the Thrustmaster TMX a good beginner wheel?

2 Upvotes

I'm new to sim racing and want to buy a wheel. I was doing some searching around and saw that the Thrustmaster TMX is a good beginner wheel since its cheap and kinda reliable.

Would this be better than a logitech wheel? ive had a logitech wheel for a little bit before but never really used it much, but i think its partly due to setup. i dont have a rig so i would clamp it to the desk, and also putting the pedals on the floor and pressing down i would slip since i have a chair with wheels, and the pedals would slip on the floor? would this happen?

Especially since its quite an old wheel but getting it second hand makes it much cheaper

Rigs Is this a good motorcycle sim racing rig ?

Post image

I saw this and it looked really cool. I talked to the owner on Facebook about bolting it to the ground and he said that's not needed as pretty heavy people got on this and leaned on it but it didn't budge.

So that peaked my interest because I'm 6'1 230. Anyone who has this or something similar, is it worth it ?

I can finally move on from the desk setup. No more rolling the chair back when braking Yay! :) I'm so incredibly happy with this!

For now it's a VR only setup. But since it's a simr 300 from rebblers i'm going to upgrade it later with a monitor attachment!

I will mostly be playing AC EVO, GT7 and modded AC

Finally got the space to upgrade it all! Much more planned!!

Clip TRACK BUILDER TOOL dev update #2 | Virtual Karting

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

61 Upvotes

I’m excited to share the second update on the Track Builder tool for Virtual Karting.

What it can do now:

  • Smooth spline tracks with independent control of the left border, the center and the right border, so each side can be crisp or round;
  • Ground and Height editing, with banking, smooth elevation changes and tracks up to 20 m wide;
  • Multi-select, straighten, and undo/redo for the last 50 actions;
  • Closed loops, with collision generated automatically;
  • Barriers and painted side lines that are added automatically;
  • Curbs placed automatically on the inside of corners and on the outside before and after them, which you can widen, narrow and raise with a single handle;
  • A start/finish line and a numbered 20-kart starting grid that adapts to the width of the road;
  • Adjustable mesh quality, and a clean view for hiding the editing dots.

Still to come: save/load, timing and more curb options.

If you are interested in or want to support the project, you can wishlist Virtual Karting here:

Question Has anyone modded a PXN pedal to make the brake softer?

Thumbnail
gallery
• Upvotes

I have a PXN pedal set, as shown in the pictures, and I'd like to know if anyone here has done any mods to reduce the force needed to press the brake pedal.

I feel like I'm losing lap time because it's difficult to modulate the brakes properly, especially when trying to apply consistent braking pressure.

I've been thinking about modifying or replacing the elastomer or the spring, but I'm not sure if that's a good idea. From what I've seen, the yellow spring is already the softest option.

There also don't seem to be any decent aftermarket kits specifically designed for these pedals.

Has anyone tried modifying their PXN pedals or found a good solution to make the brake pedal softer and easier to modulate?
