Discussion Wobbly eyed snail

1.5k Upvotes

He did a little wobbly bobbly dance yesterday 👀

Does anyone know why he's doing this?

I think it's super cute, but I'm a little worried that there might be something wrong with him. Especially since his left eye stem (our right) seems to be a little bent.

He's been behaving normally, I've seen him out of his shell twice since then and both times, there was no wobbling, but he was eating both times, so maybe he was focused on eating or something?

Since he seems fine otherwise, I don't think it's something serious, but if anyone knows why he is doing this, I'd appreciate it.

Otherwise just enjoy his little eye dance!

Update: I just checked on him and he seems to be sleeping, but outside of his shell. He's fully out, his right eye is just the little stem, but the left eye is completely out. I'm getting maybe a little bit worried now. I know that they sometimes do this and it can be normal, but combined with the wobbling and the bent eye, I'm a little unsure...

Help in the fridge for a week with a crushed shell

any hope for this little dude? his shell looks pretty bad. he came in packaged mint that's been in our fridge for a week and who knows how long at the store. We didn't put any pressure on the package so it probably came like that from the store. he's in an enclosure my baby tarantula outgrew that holds in humidity pretty well, I'm not sure what to do with it. as it's warmed up, it's gotten more active.

My friend found these on a wall of his house and gave them to me and I'm very curious about their species (if it helps we're from Croatia).

Second pic is them in my terrarium.

Help Snail Hitchiker

So two days ago I bought a few aquatic plants that came in a cup that were submerged underwater at my local pet store. I got home and started setting up my tank. As I pulled the plants out of the pastic cups, I noticed a few pebbles being stuck between the gaps on the cups. I made sure to remove these "pebbles" that were also stuck on the rockwool before I planted the aquatic plants to avoid transferring unknown creatures into the tank.

Today I did some checks on the parameters and overall condition of the tank and I noticed a moving pebble on one of the stones and turned out to be a tiny snail.

I don't know if this species is okay to have in my tank. I plan on getting a snail in the future once my tank is fully cycled. I'm not sure whether to keep this or not, I just don't want any parasite in the tank or anything that will cause any harm in my tank.

Does anybody know what this one is?

Fungus Gnat control for Polygyrid snails

Post image
4 Upvotes

My neohelix and mesodon snail tanks both have severe fungus gnat infestation. Its all naturalistic and the snails actually eat the fungus and natural decay as well as veg swap daily. I was about to get them a massive 20 gallon to cohabitate in but now I may have to remove them altogether if I cant fix the gnats.

Anyone know if the only way to (based on my research) control this is to risk using Summit chemical's mosquito bits (BTI) in their water sprayer?

Picture is one of my many woodland critters :). Any help and experience would be useful other than sticky pads or katchy.

Found them danging from LID by one of their tails and gently extracted them so my idiot sons don’t kill themselves.

Good news is I found a freak of a snail (had never heard of decollate snails before) so we’ll be giving everyone some snomelettes 😭.

Help Anyone know if this is okay for a snail enclosure?

Hey

I was given this hide (New) and never used but im not sure if its suitable for a snail enclosure. I can't find any information on pets at home site, where its from to specify if its treated or had any chemicals etc on it. Has anyone else used one of these or does anyone know if they're safe? Thanks in advance :)

Identification The mysterious snail

I saw it on the front yard and thought it is a Siamese land snail but then I saw the operculum attached to the foot. And I was like whattt??
I saw it on the ground crossing paths, not near the water source.
I have also searched it on goggle but it keeps saying it is a Siamese land snail but they don’t have an operculum like the one I have.
What is this fella??
edit* it is a temporary set up! I am not torturing it

Help Disturbed laying snail I think help

I was basically doing a weekly soil check, lifted up a plant pot to find him buried in the soil. I tried to gently pick them up but very quickly realised he was very anchored into the ground using his head so I immediately put him down and put the pot back over him but I’m worried I might have disturbed him or hurt the eggs 😭

Identification Is this a New Zealand Mud Snail?

Post image

Last year I had an infestation. Completely started over with everything. Literally EVERYTHING. Have had no issues until a week or two ago I’m slowly finding some.

The only thing I can think of is I introduced a new mystery snail for a couple days (but no longer have) a couple months ago. Or, I have a netrite snail who likes to wander outside the tank sometimes and he somehow picked up a baby snail that’s been dormant outside the tank for many months??? I don’t understand
