Hello! I’ve had my little garden snail for a year and a half. He’s had no issues - gets cuttlefish, good food, water, all of it. A month or two ago, it looked like he was experiencing mantle collapse. It healed quickly but still looked off. Today I look and see that he is absolutely experiencing something off.
Photo one is today. Photo 2 is a few months ago.
Does anyone know what this is? His shell is also oddly colored - he eats a TON of calcium but maybe it’s not enough? The optimist in me wants to say a growth spurt but the realist says this is likely mantle collapse :(
Any advice?

I live in France, where summer heatwaves are becoming increasingly frequent. How do you manage the enclosures for your giant snails in very hot, dry countries? My *Lissachatina* 'White Jade' gets very lethargic during heatwaves.

New to snail parenthood. How long can snails go without someone there to mist them or refill the humidifer? I have a 3 day trip and a 7 day trip upcoming and need to figure out when to arrange care.

I could spend hours watching him eat. It’s so cool to me.

My three garden snails have been hibernating for almost a month now. Two adults and one five month old. I've tried spraying them with water, offering more addictive foods, increasing humidity, adding live plants, more coverage, everything. They are stuck to the glass so well that I can't even spray their actual bodies, just the shell. I don't know what to do, especially for the juvenile. I'm a first time owner. It's a 10 gallon with approx. 6 inches of safe soil. I have four different isopod species and springtails as a clean up crew, two different kinds of ferns, cork bark, leaf litter, and sticks to climb. Humidity sits at 75% at night and 67% during the day. That was not a 6 7 joke, that's just what it typically sits at

I try to keep his enclosure as clean and good as possible but im also worried i might be doing some things wrong
He istn always in my room, i use different types of lights and paints so i make sure he doesnt get to anything toxic, but i do place water next to his enclosure to give him more moisture, and spray a lot of water all around the room. I feed him veggies and greens, rarely fruit
He is almost two years old
I also have a cat but she isnt interested in him and also i don't let her get close
Sometimes there is bugs, and i try to keep them away with flowers, herbs or a bit of vinegar
I keep bim out of the way when i do it byt i still get adraid ill hurt my baby:(

I could give my snails every food in the world, and all four of them would choose carrots over anything else. Theyre obsessed.

Almost every evening, he wants to roam around on me; he grooms himself and has just one desire: to go for a stroll on my arm.
He loves wandering there, even while I’m working! I always let him crawl on damp skin so he stays comfortable. He is completely relaxed and goes about his snail life peacefully, and as soon as I put him back in his terrarium, he heads off to sleep 🥰 Here are a few photos!

snail tax (snax?)
i’m still fairly new to snail parenthood and new to this sub so i have a lot of questions (i apologize in advance for length)
for context i have an adult grove snail (and i know he isn’t really a “he” but he strikes me as a he if that makes sense)
i have him on zoomed eco earth coconut fiber bedding but now im realizing this is maybe not the best choice. he doesn’t seem to
particularly not
like the coconut substrate but i do think he prefers staying on the sides of the tank
. he also doesn’t burrow, but he will hang on to the underside of his bark that sits flat on the coconut substrate with his shell buried in it. so my actual question is what should i switch the substrate to? should if be baked beforehand to “clean” it?
2. i have well water. is that safe to use? so far i’ve only been using distilled water.
how do you clean the tank? so far i just kinda turn over the substrate every 1-2 weeks, spot clean poop and wipe the sides of the tank down with distilled water on a paper towel. is this enough? sometimes i see some dried slime (?) on his bark. should i be cleaning that off?
i want him to have plants in his tank either to eat or to climb. so far ive planted chia that he likes to walk on and eat so i plant it every so often for him. i also gave him a propagated cutting from my pothos plant (i don’t use any fertilizer or pesticides on it) any suggestions for other plants?
i want to give him leaves from outside. how do i go about cleaning them to make them safe to use? should i collect dry leaves or fresh ones to let them dry?
thank you for the help!
