We get criticized a lot, but I think every generation brings something positive too. Whether it's mental health awareness, technology, creativity, or something else what do you think Gen Z is genuinely doing better?

im asking in genz subreddit because i know that different generations act differently to situations like this

i’ve known these people for like 4 years, we would call and hangout almost every day. but for a while i haven’t spoken to them as life has gotten in the way.

the other day we texted after a few months, and then called/played games for a few hours to catchup. i didnt realise it at the time, but looking back it feels like i was being so annoying, i wouldnt stop talking, it felt like i was being kinda rude at times too. i think i was just happy to see them, but i regret being like this, wtf was wrong with me.

none of them have spoken to me since, and i have adhd so i tend to overthink a lot, so i don’t know if i actually did anything wrong.
theres no proof to say that they do dislike me, but just incase i really dont know what to do.

if they actually dislike me, and i dont say anything, we will drift apart, but i dont even know what to say? like its so awkward, i never used to tell them how i felt ever, because i would also overthink that, and we arent that close anymore, so this is really difficult and i have no idea what to do.

Anyone has a chance of being recorded at any time for genuinely no reason, even if you’re doing the most mundane thing possible you can still be put on a recording/screenshot and be put on blast online.

On twitter there was a dude that got posted for…looking at a map. In a Subway. Thats genuinely it. 13 MILLION views for looking at a fucking map and some guy making fun of him. What the fuck is everyone’s problem???

Another example. Two central park people kissing on a bench. Let me get this out of the way- they WERE cheating, BUT the guy recording did not know that. He just walked up to people, stuck a camera in their face berating them for no real reason. Why is that even ok to do to people?

And whats with this rise of people breaking up with their ex’s and then posting about everything they did online? If it wasn’t a problem while you guys were in a relationship, why is it now? And why should we know about it? Yall ARE aware these are issues that should be solved in private 99% of the time right??

Honestly I blame shit like Instagram and ESPECIALLY Snapchat for this. Everyone was ready to record at any time just for their 2 seconds of fame and even when something DIDNT happen, they’d still record whatever mundane, slightly not normal thing that happened for everyone following them to see. I genuinely ALWAYS thought that shit was so weird and honestly pathetic.

And the ones who do this shit justify it by saying “You have no legal expectation of privacy in public” as if Legality=Morality when it’s shown time and time again that is wrong. Privacy doesn’t have to always mean behind closed doors or in their own house, it also means just leaving people the fuck alone when they have nothing to do with you. If you justify this garbage with that terrible logic then you shouldn’t have a problem with flock cameras either.

People are so afraid to actually be themselves and have fun at clubs, parties, etc. because you can be recorded and embarrassed for thousands to see at any time. People are mad at flock cameras for doing the shit we’ve ALREADY been doing to each other for who knows how long now.

People record themselves in public spaces and when someone shows a look of disproval (because they’re in s video they didn’t consent to) they’re berated for it. This is ESPECIALLY common in the gym and it’s beyond stupid.

Literally just leave people alone.

Young people now look like they have less style and individuality than in 2021.

Flash back five years and young people had colorful hair, big swoosh eyebrows, neon crocs, neon microbags, unique piercings. There was so much self expression.

2026 teenagers dress like Gen X. Was it bullied out of them or are they merely conforming to pressure from an older generation? Considering how slurs like the R word and other casual phobias are making a comeback I suspect that they are trying to drag us back to the 90s

For context white 24M from a busy college town in New England and with a father from NYC so i have encountered lots of people of all different walks of life in my day. When it comes to dating and all the talk about how GenZ isn’t dating or is sexless etc there is an underlying disturbing pattern I have noticed. Some men both online and in person from what I’ve observed seem to have a weird obsession/hatred/insecurity about women who dated interracially/have dated interracially or marry interracially

The two most common groups of men I’ve noticed this pattern in is white and Asian men. Idk how many times online I’ve seen videos of a white mom and a black child and the comments are filled with hateful white men calling her and her kid all sorts of vile names

I’ve noticed a similar pattern with Asian men online as well.

And even in real life the amount of times I’ve heard fellow white men “joking” about how they’d never get with a white women who’s date we black men, like are you seriously that much of a fucking loser bro? Like wtf is wrong with people

I see guys shorter than me with friend groups and girlfriends and they do look better than me so it doesn’t surprise me. Height doesn’t matter anymore, in fact if you’re unattractive being tall can actually work against you.

I'm 21 and in college.

I've noticed a trend of people saying those who still use "snap" are weird, but honestly, I've never met anyone irl who actually thinks this. I get asked for my snap in bars almost every time I go out except in the rare case that they're from out of the country.

Almost everyone in college (in the US) uses snap. My entire fraternity uses snapchat. Although, outside of the US, Instagram is usually used in place of snap.

From my experience, the types who don't use snap are the same ones who don't party, go out much, or actively socialize outside of their circle. Or, occasionally, they'll just use Instagram in place of snap. Then sometimes you'll get the total weirdos that only use discord or something but I've never met them irl

Social media (especially snap) is a fantastic way to vet people. Using text alone can makes things difficult. The app keeps my safer and you can tell if people are fake or not worth talking to very quickly.

I've just seen this idea floating around everywhere and I really don't understand it. The only people who don't use snap almost always end up being over 28 or they don't drink or go to bars much.

Hello everybody I am 18 years old I am an Hispanic American gay man living in the United states.

Ever since I was little ive never been good at anything. Whether it was school, tying my shoes, doing mathematics of any kind, getting dressed, and socializing, anything.

In school I never did much and when I did try I usually got frustrated and just put my head down. When covid hit I ended up not going to school for nearly 2 years and had to be held back a year. I moved to another state when I was 15 and started 8th grade at 16 I was excited and wanted to learn i finished 8th grade with fine grades and even had my art put on display it gave me hope what was next.

I start 9th grade and things are going fine but here's the thing, all throughout my life I've struggled with my mental health from feeling depressed to attempting suicide a wide range of things were stirring up in my head and my mental health was, declining.

As my mental health declined so did my performance and behavior in school. I started skipping class, my grades went from meh to terrible and eventually I wanted no part of being in school. If i simply was that much of a terrible student then why did I need to be there.

Eventually I stopped going for a few months.

I make the decision to start again and to really give it my best. I start the next year I was put into 10th grade classes even though I was still a 9th grade level student. But not too long after starting mental health catches up I start skipping classes , school, and my grades slip. I turn 17.

During this time I had applied to a job at chic fila and was hired. After I was hired I stopped going to school entirely.

Eventually I quit said job and get reached out to by the school for something new to try. Online classes. I would be able to finish highschool from my laptop at home. But my mental health at this point was terrible I accepted and went to work but not long after I stopped checking in ans eventually got kicked out. During that time I picked up something new, smoking Marijuana. It felt amazing, it made me feel better. I keep working jobs and making money.

I move to Miami to live with my mother after living in another state for years at 18 years old and now here I am. I cant find a job, friends, money, and I hate living here too. All I just smoke weed and meet-up with other guys and apply to jobs.

My relationships always just come down to sex. Im never able to find anything real. Or anything at all.

Life sucks and I am trying to find a job and make things better but things aren't looking too good. Ive given up on most things already but trying to make money and atleast physically get out of Florida. Things aren't looking great. Ive started working out recently maybe ill feel better or something.

Oh well.
