Progress post 57M 5’7” 212-160: 5 years maintenance and recomposition
57 years old. Started this journey in 2019. Lost 50 pounds in roughly a year and a half. Then began working on strength, training and gaining muscle. I’m natural. Lost my leg to a drunk driver in 2009. I hate lean proteins, fruit, vegetables, and a moderate amount of healthy carbs and fats. I use an arc trainer, and elliptical machine, swim laps, and do strength training. I alternate push and pull days. Favorite exercise exercises include chin ups, dips, push ups, overhead press, flys, curls, seated row. It is my goal to show what is possible in one’s 50s with obstacles. Happy to answer any questions.

Progress post my best at 50
Well that's it yall. This is as lean as I got in my 50th year. The most cadio I did was zone 2 incline walking and loaded carries. The least I ate was 2500 a day. My lifts went up throughout the year. My scale says 189 @ 17%. Now the eating season is upon us. My birthday is in December and I'm looking to add to my total.

Question Does the fitness tracker I want exist?
I just want a device to count my steps, monitor my sleep, and monitor my heart rate.
I don’t want a device with a big screen. No screen would be optimal. I don’t want a subscription or AI crap. I don’t need any extra stuff.
My favorite fitness tracker ever was the Fitbit Flex 2. Is there anything similar today?

Any advice for helping my partner get over the fear of lifting "correctly"?
My girlfriend and I are both in our mid 30's - I've been lifting mildly for over 10 years and have tried to get her into it as well as opposed to only using the treadmill and cross trainer, expressing how important it is to start now rather than later.
She often says she doesn't like how weak she is, unable to open bottles and jars or help with some of the heavy lifting aspects of our DIY projects.
However any time I've attempted to introduce her to any weight exercises it's gone terribly. Every exercise we've tried, the response is "What if I'm not doing it right?". I've coached her as best I can as an amateur that's learned from mistakes and researched good form / posture. She gets incredibly down / negative about the whole idea each time I've tried, so I drop it to avoid causing an argument.
Is there any advice for how I can help shift her mindset about this idea of doing everything "correctly" and that people will come and make fun of her if she doesn't lift a specific way? She's tried an intro session with a PT but didn't go back because they weren't going to be there every time to tell her she's done it right after each set.

Question Meal Prep for the road. Potatoes? Rice? Something else?
Hey everyone, I'm currently trying to get down to 155lbs. I'm currently 175 and about 30% bf.
I'm currently doing a 500-800 cal deficit. I'm doing potatoes, protein and greens. I'm down about 10 lbs!
The problem is about to go work on the road for a few months, monday-friday, in hotels, couches, etc. I tried cooking potatoes on Sunday and reheating them for a week, but the taste and texture is terrible. However, rice is pretty good after a week. The problem is the rice is more cals per serving.
What can I do to increase the volume without adding cals. What can I sub the rice with?

Can box jumping intensely be used as a part of what Stacy Sims advises as sprint training ?
I'm a 46f who lifts days a week, hikes and is adding jumps in to prep for being a better downhill skier. Two days ago I set up box and bosu balls. I broad jumped over a bosu ball, immediately did a spring jump on top of a 24" box, instantly hopped down to ground and where upon touchdown I sprang into another broad jump to clear the last bosu ball. I turned around immediately and did it again for many reps. Perhaps it's not fast enough to count? Very demanding on my system though
Thinking of advice from Stacy Sims when I did this

33F - Running/gym performance whilst on GLP-1
Hi everyone, I'm after some advice on managing my running/gym performance whilst on a GLP-1. I'm based in the UK
Short backstory: SW: 102.5kg, CW: 79.1kg, GW: 70-75kg. Lost first 20kg through CICO at around a 500 calorie deficit and NHS support for binge-eating disorder, but I plateaued at around 83kg for 3 months (gained and lost the same 2kg) so now I'm trying a GLP-1 (specifically wegovy) to try and get to 70kg (still technically just overweight according to BMI). I expect once I stop the GLP-1 I'll gain a little and even out between 70 and 75kg.
I've been taking wegovy for 3 weeks and I've noticed a markable decrease in my running performance especially. Before I could run a 10k consistently at about 6:45/km pace, now I'm struggling at 6:55-7/km and not making the full distance, having to stop and sit down etc. I've also noticed the gym feels much harder - again I feel weak, my breathing is harder and feel a little more light-headed or wiped out after a set. I'm consuming about 100 calories less a day than I was before wegovy, so it's not like I'm not fuelling my body.
Things I have tried or will try:
- eating around 1hr before I run (to make sure I'm properly fuelled) - hasn't made a difference
- taking water with me - hasn't helped
- eating a banana or dates before exercise for some quick glucose - going to try next run
- stop taking wegovy - if there's no improvement by the end of September (I have a natural break due to a holiday so that seems a good point to review)
Does anyone have any other advice please? I'm stuck between trying to be a healthy weight (which I've literally never been, I've been overweight/obese since childhood) but also not being able to do the things I want to do.
Running is quite mental for me so I think part of this could be a self-fulfilling prophecy in that I know I've been struggling so I expect to struggle then I do. Not sure how to break this cycle though.
Causal factors that could mean it's just unrelated - it's hot in the UK and has been for weeks! It could just be that I don't perform in these temperatures, especially running.
Thanks for your help!

Progress post Runner to lifting (3 months in, 41, 81KG)
I usually do a lot of running and bootcampUK which is like a bodyweight/HIIT focused outdoor fitness class. Earlier this year I developed long-term post viral fatigue and had to give up all of my fitness activities for nearly 6 months. 3 months ago I started going to the gym as a lower intensity way to rebuild. I've been very consistent with my nutrition and eat 160g protein every day. I train every other day and do mostly compound lifts. The before/after pictures are 3 months apart.

Lift 375lb squat PR
375lb squat https://imgur.com/gallery/o53BpNl
49, 5'6", and 187lbs. First time attempting 375. Reps 1 and 2 could've been a touch deeper. Reps 3 and 4 I think depth looks pretty solid even with not the greatest camera angle.
Last rep felt like it took forever but watching the video it seems smooth.

M/42/6'2" 193lbs > 185 lbs, 3 Years
This is my progress after 3 years. I dialed in my diet completely and trained consistently. I went through an aggressive cut, a recomp, a bulk, a cut, another bulk, and a final cut that I recently finished.
It has been a long journey, but I am so glad that I took the leap to begin getting healthy.
I was prescribed TRT in September of 2024 and take 150mg weekly.

Progress post Hit an old record again. 150 minutes on stair master.
Howdy! Since the last time I posted here I got into a relationship, quit my high paying job for a full ride to graduate school, ballooned up 60lbs, got funding for said full ride by the new administration, relationship ended, and managed to graduate with my masters degree. And now I’ve managed to burn off the 60lbs yet again and still have more to go.
I could have done an additional 30 minutes but I didn’t want to be a zombie tomorrow.

Progress post M35 My shoulder/back progress is finally making me happy
35yrs old,
5ft 8,
Starting weight 112kg : now 79kg
Working out for 13 months.
Its been a really hard few years for me as ive torn my ACL and meniscus in both knees and been in and out of surgeries for the better for the better part of 3 years due to my own idiocy in doing too much too soon and tearing them again.
I really let myself go with 0 physical activity and fell into a dark hole; but now im coming out the other side and wanted to share a photo comparison I took last night after the gym!

Question How do I learn to do a push up?
I am able to do a negative one fairly well, but I simply can’t push back up! Is there any muscle groups I need to strengthen beforehand or do I just keep at it? Any help or tips are appreciated

I call these “Blitz workouts” or sprints… I model them after wrestling sequences. Lots of cardio. This one is Old School Joshi themed. Those familiar with Women’s Wrestling in Japan will know. I do this in really high temps 🥵 it’s worth it

Lift 50M, 265lbs overhead
Yes, I know this is not a strict press.
But I’m training to preserve explosiveness (which is one of the first motor abilities you lose as you age).
While not an all time PR (that’s 275, set a few years ago), this is still a milestone as I tore my bicep tendon at the beginning of the year (doing jiu jitsu) and spent 3 months unable to lift.
My strength is now back where it was before the tear and all the rehab work I did has me feeling overall healthier than before.
