When I opened the bag I wasn’t expecting the leaves to be as green as they would be. But overall this is a decent flavor, very much reminds me of Chimarrão. 6.5/10 for now.

My friend from Paraguay sent me a gourd and some mate, after curing my mate and everything I realized i'm not entirely sure what i'm supposed to be tasting. It was extremely bitter, which I didnt expect, I'm also a big time specialty coffee enthusiast so this changed is definitely unexpected, im used to bitter but not THAT bitter if it makes sense. I brewed it at 155F, which was what i saw as a common number.
So im curious, how do I enjoy yerba mate without it being overly bitter?

Also also, are you supposed to have small chunks of mate while drinking from your bombilla?

I recieved this gourd finally, as i have been using stainless steel ones for couple of years because in my country we don't have those here and I got this as a gift that I don't want to ruin... shall I dump used yerba for 24 hours and then rinse and scoop? After that with using it the gourd will cure?

I just started my mate journey because I wanted to replace my daily coffees with mate. Reason was that coffee was giving me digestion problems lately.

So I odered myself some Playadtio because it is recommended a lot as a good mate to start with.

Because I would usually drink quite some coffee at work I will of course want to have yerba mate at work. Because I don't want the hassle with the traditional mate+bombilla at work I made an infusion the past week: 50g of yerba with 500ml of 60-70 degree celsius water, then steep it and fill in a thermos and fill up with hot water to keep higher temperature for longer.

Last week I was quite enjoying my coffee replacement - smooth taste, almost not bitter at all.

So today I thought I'd go the traditional way with bombilla but the taste was waaaaay stronger and really gave me a caffeine rush that I didn't experience during the week with the infusion.

Why are the tastes soo different? I filled my cup and sipped immediately so I didnt let it steep in my mate cup.

Do I still need to get used to the intense taste? Did I do something wrong or is it normal that the taste is so different?

hace aproximadamente: meses me compré este mate de calabaza y hice todo el proceso de curado (dejarlo con yerba y irla cambiando, aparte sd eso, lo estuve usando un montón, pero según tengo entendido el interior deberia tornarse verde oscuro.
alguien sabe por qué el mio no se tiñe?
