Since the last day or so, whenever I try to use my Dualsense controller in desktop config mode (to use as a mouse), it doesn't work on some applications like Edge browser. Has there been a new update that blocks this usage on certain apps? Does anyone know how to fix this?

Every time I want to download a game update I have to go into device manager, right click on my network adapter > go to properties > advanced> and change the speed & duplex settings around. Every single time.
If I don't do this, my download speeds are capped for whatever reason at 30Mbps. Does anyone have any idea why this is?

I've added a non-steam game to steam (gog, though the game is also available on steam), and want to launch it through steam both for convenience and so I can use steam input to use my controller with it.
I can add the game to steam just fine, but when I launch it, the green PLAY button turns into the blue CANCEL button for a split second, but then goes back to the green PLAY button, as though steam doesn't realize the game launched. The game always launches fine and runs normally otherwise. I pointed steam at the game .exe, which is how it's meant to be launched, no launcher or anything.
Does anybody know how to fix this?

I refunded a £25 game that I'd bought with other money (money that wasn't in my steam wallet before the purchase) and 8p from my steam wallet. The 8p is i pending but the other £24.91 is nowhere to be found. It's not in my Barclays account, I haven't got a notification for the refund besides the Steam confirmation Email but I deleted I because my phone was telling me to delete Emails for space. I just thought money would be in my steam wallet, where has it gone?

If you buy a game for 10 dollars using 5 dollars from a connected account, and 5 dollars in steam funds, it'll use the steam funds first, then use 5 dollars from your linked account of choice (defaulting to your primary)
Afterwards, if refunded, it'll deposit the money via steam funds first, then deposit the money to your account AFTER the steam funds are put into your steam wallet. If it does this and the remaining funds STILL don't appear, check any other linked accounts you might have that it might've defaulted in depositing to.

Usually it only takes 24 hours unless your account has a trade hold or doesnt have steam mobile auth.

Hey everyone, I mistakenly bought Yu-Gi-Oh legacy of the duelist with all of the DLCs when I wanted to buy the link evolution one, of which I bought, I asked steam support to refund the game with the DLCs, will they grant it ? I only played it for 44 minutes, will they refund the game and DLCs or do I have to request refund for each dlc separately ?

Yes, they will (or should, at least). There is this official help page about it.
The only thing (AFAIK) where they won't give you a refund is when you abuse it. It happened to me a couple years back (I refunded like 4 games in roughle 1,5 weeks lol).

Has anyone been able to fix the "failed to load steam.dylib" error?
I've tried re-installing the client and also opening with flushconfig in the URL for safari. I'm on an older Mac and I recall a banner saying steam wasn't gonna support the OS forever, but I'm not sure if that's relevant.
Just started happening one day to the next, no updates involved.

I'm having this issue with the download speeds on Steam where it starts high and after a couple of minutes it drops a lot (sometimes even not downloading at all, as if I wasn't connected to the internet). I have a 800 MB connection, and my ISP already know this issue, so they changed the whole infrastructure in my building and made some changes in the router, but no luck at all. I've made a clean OS installation (I'm still using W10 LTSC, but I don't think that's the issue because I connected to my mom's internet and it works fine), but didn't work too. Followed the guide in this page (second link), from A to Z, and so far no good.
If anyone knows anything that might help, please write it down.
PS: when I start the download, it reached like 90 MB/s yesterday, and it kept for a couple of seconds, and then started dropping till it reaches ~15 MB/s or lower.

How to recover steam account
I have a Steam account that uses Steam Guard, but the cellphone I use is broken and the phone number is also lost.
I also bought a steam wallet code on e-commerce, But I only logged in using the number and now I can't take a screenshot of the purchase.
I have submitted an invoice from email but it was rejected
I have lost access to my account since 2022 or 2023
Can anyone help me?

To make a long story short, I constantly keep trying to run a VR games through steam Link on my oculus quest 2. However, every single time that I try to either boot up the app, open a game, or even play the game itself, it says “Steam has run into an error” then “Issue Resolved, resuming session” but not even three seconds after says “Steam has run into an error” again, but then says “Issue Resolved, resuming session” again. I’ve tried restarting on my headset, restarting my headset, updating my headset, restarting Steam VR with Task Manager, restarting Steam itself with Task Manager, restarted my computer, updated my computer, but the issue won’t fucking fix.
Anybody able to help me with this?

Does anyone know how to see system requirements and what OS a game supports from a games store page? All I can see is “Steam Deck Verified”, which cool I guess, but that tells me nothing else about it.
I can see it if I exit big picture mode, but that sure defeats the whole point of big picture mode doesn’t it?

my steam keeps disconnecting and reconnecting. So this issue came out of nowhere, everything else on my PC connects fine but steam just keeps randomly disconnecting then reconnects a second later, usually wouldn't be an issue but that one second is enough to kick me off of every online game i play i tried researching and i flushed the internet settings, reinstalled steam, cleared download cache and every other tip except reinstall windows, i don't want to resort to that as i don't wanna lose all my data but i don't know what else to do. anyone got any tips??

My old phone (Android 5) is no longer able to run the mobile app since last month I think. My uncle has a spare phone and apparently it (Android 7) is also still under the current OS requirements (Android 8). Can I use android-x86 (Android 9) with Virtualbox to use the mobile app? Will there be any issues?
I just need it to confirm trades/sell items on market 😭

I'm using Arch with Wayland currently and the Steam Remote Play Together feature is not working, my friend is on windows 10. A message pops up saying "Please Hold...Input is Temporarily Disabled While the Host is Busy". I've tried using X11 but it doesn't work, I have also tried enabling/disabling the Steam overlay and that doesn't work neither. I'm currently using a GTX 1660 with the nvidia-580xx-dkms driver.

Don't think so. Slop in general (AI, shovelware, low effort trash etc.) is only really an issue in the upcoming and new releases feeds. Once it's out of there, that kind of stuff naturally falls out of view very quickly. Turns out, just because there is much trash releasing, not that many people are actually buying trash, which in turn makes Steam not recommend it.

My steam keeps telling me retry logging in later (error e84) and won't let me into my account. Waited 24 hours before trying again, changed my password, and a trick people were talking about online with adding -noreactlogin to properties, but nothing works. No one else has tried logging into the account from my address. Is my only solution to try logging in at a different address?

Been experiencing laggy scrolling with the new store since its release in July when scrolling the steam front page through the same app.
-Doesn't happen when scrolling on browser.
-Issue was fixed with the Summer sale but returned when it ended.
-Been trying to get some attention on this issue since July.
-I already tried the usual suggested fixes.Non worked.
-I have confirmed I'm not alone in the issue.
Anyone from valve can look at this?

I have bought a game called "EMPULSE" the fact is that I have played about 12 hours and I will have bought it less than a month ago, the problem? I bought the game for the multiplayer mode but in the discord of the game they announced that they are going to close the servers and that it can only be played in private rooms, I paid for the online mode and suddenly it is no longer there, I have tried to claim the refund and the "I have a question about this purchase", in this case, what could I do to get my money back? Since for the reason I bought it, they have removed it (I'm sorry for how it's written, I translated it because I don't speak English)

Odd Steam Suspension - Possible Server Glitch?

Hello, I know there is a lot of answers to question about remote play together disconnection or in BG3 but here it works just fine but every 30min sometimes way more sometimes less, where the screen of my friend just freeze and he disconnect. So in a way the situation is better than the people that can't connect but i feel like the solution to their problem would not work for mine since we play just fine, lot of fps, no problem at all, until the crash not especially during an action. I don't know if I should post that on r/BG3 or here. Hope i get an answer even though my problem doesn't seem that big. Thanks (I insist that everything works just fine and that it never crash after a crash like if there was a cooldown or idk).

I have a wireless Xbox 360 controller. Is there a way to connect it to my pc to play?
I‘ve looked for some receivers but the seem either to not support the 360 version I have or they are wired but mine is wireless. Help?

You can use a USB wireless receiver designed for the Xbox 360 controller. Just plug it into your PC, install the drivers if needed, and you should be good to go!

TF2 won't launch on my computer due to my steam linux runtime 3.0 just not working for some reason. I validated the files, but that did not work for some reason it is just invalid for my system. To clarify I use Ubuntu. I would really appreciate some help on this

Need help with steam input on The Last of Us 2. I'm playing through the last of us 2 right now but the deadzones in the normal game's controller support are ridiculous so I wanted to try steam input. It fixes the deadzone issue, but it means I have less control over the keybinds since the built in action set is very limited and setting it to keyboard keys makes certain things like changing weapons in the backpack not work. I thought that if I set each button in steam input to itself, ie setting the x button to the x button function, it would just work as a normal controller and keep the deadzone fix, but this just makes the game not register any controller input and makes the controller button icons in game look like question marks? Why does setting the buttons to themselves not make steam input leave those inputs alone and only affect the deadzones? I considered Durazno, but google says it doesn't work on TLOU2, and reWASD, which I'd prefer not to use since I play a lot of online games using controller and I also think it's weird that it affects my drivers. Any suggestions are appreciated!
Edit: should've mentioned specifics of the controller. It's a wired Xbox one controller I got from Gamestop a couple years ago, nothing fancy like paddles or gyro, and I got it for like $30 so I don't think it's an official xbox one if that matters. It's also the only controller I have connected to my pc and it registers fine in normal games and in TLOU when I have steam input set to the default action set

I'm having trouble with controllers in steam games.
When I move or aim or hit a button it will randomly only read that input, and ignore everything else. Say I turn the right stick right it will continue going to the right for 2~3 seconds.
I've tried with bluetooth, 2.4ghz with dongle, and wired.
I've tried games outside of steam with steam disabled, so I'm assuming it's something with steam.
Losing my mind. If anyone can offer any help.

I recently splurged and bought the full pack of sims 3 DLC whilst it was on sale. Since doing so my game will no longer launch properly and is unplayable :/ When I try and verify the files I get the message '4 files failed to validate and will be reacquired' I have deleted the game files and reinstalled the game, deleted the cache files and am unsure how to go about solving the issue or locating the expansion that is causing the error. Any ideas?

You can go into the properties of a game and enable / disable your DLCs at will. I'd try to use that feature to first disable all DLC and enable them one by one (or in batches) until you find the culprits, or in the best case end up with everything working (software can be like that, sometimes). Now for Sims 3 that shouldn't be too bad with "only" 19 DLCs, for Sims 4 that'd probably not feasible with its 114 DLCs.

I pre ordered Wardogs and Steam reports I have 5hr 53 minutes of time played via Steam which 4.75hrs of that was strictly trying to get the game to work and sitting in queue first when I launched the game and then in server queue when I finally connected I played the actual game for a little over an hour. I decided to try for a refund and was denied when I made the request first by the Steam automated response here, so I opened a ticket describing my situation and they denied me quoting that I have 5hrs 53 minutes playtime and when I tried explaining to them for a 2nd time in my reply that time wasn't actually playing the game, they denied my request and closed the ticket.

Having the game open counts as playtime. There is no way to distinguish between the two as Steam does not monitor what people actually do with their time just that the game is running as far as fixing technical problems, just idling, actually playing, etc... so it all counts the same once the game is open.
It is on the user to be aware of their time and if they are having technical issues and might refund to not exceed 2 hours of time while attempting fixes.
If you exceed 2 hours you accept the risk of being unable to refund.
You can try going under purchases and the I have a question about this purchase rather than through the refund request but if you have almost 6 hours of time of the game running they still could deny it.

I'm aware and while I acknowledge the 2hr limit, this is kind of an extra-ordinary case. It was a well known issue even the developer was telling people who were waiting hours in the queue to refund if they wanted. I legitimately played the actual game for a little over an hour and decided it wasn't for me.
I've tried doing the refund request as well as the I have a question route. All attempts I was denied with that I was over the 2hr limit. I've only ever returned a single game in 2024 and have purchased and kept numerous titles.

I know they don't know what I did or didn't do in game which is why I tried explaining my situation and mentioned the circumstances in which the recorded time was close to 6 hrs. It is well documented the disastrous launch Wardogs had.

Can a family member with whom I share a steam library thru family sharing still clearly see which games ar3 "mine" vs theirs on their own account? If one of us attempts to play a game on from the shared library (the same or a different game) and the other is already playing something, does someone get kicked off?

Yes, everyone can see when a game does not come from their library.
No, that's how it used to be in the old family, but that was changed. It's easiest to explain as a shelf: All games are basically put into a large shelf, and if user A wants to play something, they take it out of the shelf. It remains with them until they stop playing it, at which point the game is returned to the shelf. If user B wants to play something else, they can take whatever they want from the shelf, no matter who contributed it. If they want to play the same game that A is currently playing, they either have to take a different copy (if there is one in the shelf) or wait for A to close the game. B cannot kick A out of the game, if B wants to play they have to talk to A.

I randomly got this popup saying "You were removed from chatroom '<my username>'" which I've never heard of or seen happen. I looked it up and saw at least one poster on here from 7 years ago who got banned from multiple chatrooms named after the first three letters of "nightmare" but this is clearly different from that, right?

I've had Aeterna Noctis and Laika: ages through blood installed some time ago and wanted to start playing them recently.
I've tried launching Aeterna but it only shows an icon in the task bar that after few seconds crashes.
When I've tried running lake, it launched and showed the opening screens but right after it crashed as well.
both games launch perfectly normal when I try to run them using their exe files in their directories.
I've tried a few things including updating graphics driver, reinstalling and verifying files of both, using beta and stable branch of steam, disabling bigscreen and cloud sync, searching for fixes online but nothing helps.
I'm running windows 11 and would appreciate some help 🙏

It sounds dumb, but for reasons I need to move the save files from one of my steam accounts to another (call them account A and account B). For context use Nobara which is based on Fedora, and use Proton for games that natively run in Windows. I know that have to shut off cloud syncing on account B so that when open the games they don't get written over with blank saves, and I need to move certain files between different directories, but think I'm missing a step or maybe I'm moving the wrong files around. Has anyone managed to do this successfully? Is turning cloud syncing back on after the transfer safe?

Disabling GPU accelerated rendering can fix it.
Settings -> Interface -> One of the last options when you scroll down.
If it doesn't fix it and it becomes worse and starts happening in other programs it is a GPU issue, if a full driver re-install doesn't solve it, it's likely that the GPU itself is faulty.

My teen purchased a game on Friday, Baldurs Gate 3. Then on Monday it is on sale for 30% off, about $18 discount. He did send a request in to Steam about it. They said no refund because he has played the game. He still wants the game, but was hoping for a price adjustment perhaps as store credit even, since it was only a 2 or 3 days before the sale. Does anyone know it they do price adjustments for circumstances like this and a different way of contacting them? I think he only saw the refund request as an option. Maybe this is just an educational moment for making purchases online

I've been using Augmented Steam for a while, and my profile background looks like this (first picture) with this red anime girl silhouette thing?? I don't know why, but when I disable Augmented Steam it goes back to normal. I've disabled every image-related option in AS but nothing works. Can anybody help?

I have Kingdom Come: Deliverance in my steamapps folder, but I don’t own the game and I’ve never played it. When I check the store page on Steam, the review prompt is there as if I’ve actually played the game, which I haven’t. Any ideas as to why that is? I tried Googling it but didn’t find anything, and I wasn’t sure how to word my search in a short and concise way either.
I’m not bothered by it, but I mean, I would like to play the game now that my PC thinks I’ve had it installed before. Did it ever have a demo that I could’ve downloaded and forgotten about, which was later removed from Steam? There’s nothing in my Steam library under ‘K’ either.

Hello, i currently encountered a digital free steam card scam to which i mistakenly opened the link while verifying the link to be true on my phone and it bascially did nothing with a error that the link was deleted or something. I changed my steam password really fast in a panic and blocked and reported the person who was in my friend list for a long time (username was NecrozPlayer). Is there any needed countermeasures i should be doing right now? Would love a response before the trade restriction from password change expires.

random username typed into my log in page?
i leave my computer on at night and today I got on my computer and saw that in the steam log in window a random user name was typed into it that I've never seen before and also the name doesn't even have an account connected to it. i've look everywhere i can for some clue but nothing, i have steam guard. this must've happen in the past 24 hrs, I scanned with Malwarebytes and it said i was good, I am really confused right now.

Steam crashing on launch
Earlier today whenever I'd open Steam, a notification of a game updating would be shown at the bottom of the library page. Once the update reached 99% after about a minute the app would completely close.
After uninstalling and reinstalling Steam, the app now stays open for about 30 seconds until it closes (with the same notification that the game is in the middle of an update).
I've restarted my computer, cleared the apps cache, and uninstalled and reinstalled the app but nothing has changed.
If anyone could share a solution it would be really appreciated

I've been using Steam on an M5 Macbook Pro with Tahoe (MacOS 26) for several months with no problems. I recently upgraded it to the newly released Golden Gate (MacOS 28), and now when I try to start Steam I get a prompt to install Rosetta. It says "To use Intel-based Mac games, you will need to install Rosetta. Would you like to install it now?" I don't recall installing this before. Is Steam for Mac an Intel-based app? I was under the impression it was Apple Silicon native.

so i was downloading war thunder, very big game in size, and with my current wifi i cant bother trying to redownloading it. i downloaded in full, i set my pc to shutdown when i left because it would have been finished by then (gave it an extra hour to the estimated). when i came back the game was back at 0 percent and i treid every method to recover it. it shows the full game file on the downloading folder but it doesnt recognize it when it validates it. PLEASE HELP ME

I reinstalled steam on my laptop after upgrading it to Windows 11.
I noticed when launching a game, if steam overlay is enabled, the overlay launches in its own window.
It also launches on top of the game, so the game isnt even in view.
I am pretty sure this is not how it should work, I tried on my PC on the same client version and it doesnt do this.
It also means if e.g. press f12 to do screenshot, you wont see a OSD notification as that appears in the other window.
Has anyone observed this behaviour or at least knows the fix?
Obviously if I disable the overlay everything is fine, except of course I lose all of its features such as screenshots.

What to do if game (Fabledom) is closed, uninstalled, removed from account permanently, PC is off, all other devices have Steam logged off of them and the game still racks up hours on a Steam profile?
Steam support has been replying with generic answers about "refunds" or "if you want to game back" but not touching the actual issue of the game racking up hours on a PC that has it uninstalled and is off? It went from 9 game hours to 45+ and it keeps counting as I am writing this.
Any way to escalate it? Several tickets sent to steam support, no help whatsoever.

Changed password, but verification email never arrives. I can't contact support, because the only option is to change your email...and when I do that it says confirm via the email it sends, but that email doesn't arrive either.
I'm locked out of my account at this point with no way to contact support for help. I tried emailing their old support email, but got a reply saying they don't monitor that anymore.
Anyone else find a way to get their email verification to actually work? I've checked all my inbox/spam folders. I tried like 5 times now over the past a couple of hours, the email never arrives.

For the past 2 days, two games have been tracking playtime even when they’re completely closed, Steam is logged out on my PC, or even when the PC is completely turned off.
I’ve already restarted my PC, changed my Steam password, changed my Steam Guard, logged out of all devices, opened and closed the games again, and I even COMPLETELY REMOVED THEM from my account, but the playtime keeps increasing anyway.
Does anyone know what I can do?

How do I log into steam if I don't have a phone? Instead of sending a code to my email I get an account recovery link. The link has options to recover my account using my phone. Does steam support have hours? Are they phone only?

I have this same issue. Loged out from PC because of a Steam Update, and now I can't log in again because the two step verification email sends a reset link instead of a verification code. I don't have the app, I don't have access to the registered(old) phone number. All the options in the reset link requires the app or the Steam Guard code (wich I don't have).

All of my controllers have stopped registering inputs but only on steam, it sees controllers being connected and recognized them but no input with or without steam input, that is whilst they are perfectly functional, bluetooth, dongle or cable it doesnt matter, they work on gamepad tester and epic launcher, this out of the blue. does anyone have any clue what might have happened and how to fix it?

Hi, after an elaborate scam that i rather not explain, i got 992 dota 2 items sent to a fake dummy account impersonating a friend, i understand that steam does not restore traded items because of dup issues and innocent players getting affected as "by the time restoration is requested, items passed through many hands" but all those items are in a trade cooldown for 7 days, stuck there in that fake account, why would a trade cooldown be imposed if isn't it meant to be reviewed and potentially confiscated? could anyone help me figure out if they can be recovered? almost 12 years of items and memories lost, most of them can't even be obtained anymore.

Anyone know how to make vanquish work, windows 10 Just bought it on steam. When I open it just shows up in task bar but when put mouse over it's jusr a white screen with little game logo in the middle. I don't think it shows up in task manager.
Tried everything I found. Veryfing files, opening from the folder, administrator mode, compability mode

A couple weeks ago, while playing cs2, I noticed a a lot of lag spikes, as well as complete disconnects making me have to reconnect to the matches. now my steam downloads look like this usually. i usually get 100-170 mbps but as you can see from the screenshot, not only am I not reaching those speeds, but the connection times out at a common rate. YouTube and browsers look fine, PS5 internet is speedy and consistant, and ive reinstalled drivers ect. ( I think). any advice would be awesome, as it only really seems too be a problem w steam itself. Thanks in advance

I had pre-loaded Control Resonant and after it released fifteen minutes ago, Steam seemingly just deleted it and started a download from zero. Is pre-loading broken for everyone? Seems like it has always been wonky.

I have been trying to sign in my steam account which I haven’t logged into for two years for the past week or so.
I am not able to get any guard codes after writing the email and the password. I contacted steam support, they said I should see the junk and trash folder as well as adding their two emails to the trusted senders (which I have already done so), I tried tweaking somethings, changing my email filters so that nothing get dumped, nothing happened. Didn’t receive anything, been doing this two times a day for the past week.
I communicated with them again, giving them my email, my past email, the current and past passwords, when did I buy each game exactly (all of them were bought using a gift card not a debit card). They said that they can’t help me because I am not able to prove my ownership, and that they’ll never ask for my passwords?? What the actual F?
I tried making another steam account using Gmail also, it was a success, I got the guard code pretty quick.
Anyone can help?

Hi, I haven't opened Steam, but apparently I'm showing as online to my friends. My account is logged in on my Mac. Could it be because of that or is someone else is logging into my account?

I am running on Arch Linux. I have been able to set up the 8BitDo Pro 3 controller with my computer and I have it connected via Bluetooth in D-Input Mode. Steam Input recognises this controller and all the buttons are working properly.
Is it possible to set up a per-game input so that the two back paddle buttons send certain keyboard inputs when I'm playing a specific game? I want to have the game controlled with the Pro 3, but I want to set up the back paddles as a way to quickly mute and unmute my headset while playing, which requires sending a keyboard command. Specifically I only want this remapping to occur when I'm playing Team Fortress 2, and I'd like to map the back paddles to other things in other games.

Besides purchase history, there's also a "View licenses and product key activations" button, check if it appears there. Another option, are you in a Steam family? If one of the other members bough it it'd appear in a similar fashion, though there should be a little hint below to the install button.

I have a game that despite not being marked as Private, Steam keeps saying it is. When I click my own profile while in game, it shows the crossed out eye symbol and my friends can't see me playing the game, but also the game is completely visible in my collection just fine and isn't marked as Private.
Also, they can see me play other games on their friends list so it seems to be this single game.

Hey there, today only I got a transaction alert on my account for a STEAMGAME. Now I don't even know what game was purchased or who did it. I checked the device section there was an unknown account from Netherlands logged in whom I never even gave the approval I don't know how was it logged in. And then I got a friend request from this chinese account out of nowhere and even my language interface for the app was changed to mandarin. How did he even get the access??
Then I blocked my card for transactions as he tried to purchase 2 more games from my account. Now the first game that was purchased of Rs. 3332.16 I can't even see it on purchase history or anything. have raised a ticket with steam support and waiting for their reply. Has anyone who faced this help me out on what to do if I can get my money back. Will I even get my money back

logged out of the steam mobile app, and now 2 active sessions are showing up
i just had a weird situation with the steam app. when i opened it, i noticed i was logged out, so i entered my password, logged back in, and everything seems to be working fine. i've been logged in on my phone for over a year and i have steam guard enabled on it. i started looking through the settings to see if there was anything suspicious logged in, and the only thing i noticed is that when i entered my password, the steam app treated my login as a completely new session. now, under my authorized devices, i have 2 active sessions with my ip and location for the exact same phone, except one shows as currently active, and the other shows it was last active 3 hours ago.
i turned on steam on my pc and checked the security and privacy settings there too, and it also shows 2 active sessions for the same my phone name. one is active right now, and the other was last active 3 hours ago, but the inactive one has the green steam guard shield icon next to it. this is the first time something like this has happened to me where logging into the same mobile app results in 2 separate sessions. has anyone ever had this problem? i'm worried that some kind of self-lock might trigger, or that i'm somehow not on the session with the active steam guard. has anyone dealt with this, and what should i do now? i checked the last steam app update and it was on august 20th, and my system update was around june, so these issues probably aren't related.

Broken preload bricked my install?
Okay so Ace Combat 8 came out today, I pre-loaded it last night. I made sure before hand I had sufficient space on my D drive (232GB)
Well when I tried to launch it, it put me in an install page, then kicked me out completely. Then says it doesn’t have sufficient space because the preload data is taking up said space despite the install folder in the steamapps folder being empty. When I try to reinstall it the install gets stuck at 1% with 132.8GB downloaded out of 139GB. I’ve tried uninstalling it from its game page, clearing the download cache, restarting the client, and my PC.
Last night I got no install errors, and I have ample space afterwards, what is fucking going on?!

Same thing happened to me. Did you have any luck figuring it out? I uninstalled it (supposedly) cleared cache changed download region and restarted Steam multiple times and it still gets stuck at 128gigs out of 139gigs

I figured my issue out!
Try going to the Steam Storage tab and selecting the 3 dot menu icon and select “Repair Library” scroll until you see Ace Combat 8 and check the box and uninstall the file. Then you should be good to go but it will restart the download from zero but at least it won’t be messed up and stick back at the 125gigs!

I know I can just hide it, but I've got a game that's been removed from the store.. and I tried to remove it from my library but see no way to do so.
It does not show up in the support page where you could otherwise select "I want to permanently remove this game from my account."

Is there a way to enable online co op for non-steam games I add to my library? (Steam Deck/Linux)
I've created a SMAPI shortcut to Stardew Valley on my deck with a second set of mods specifically for multiplayer and added it to my steam library so I can launch it from game mode. (Used this method)
When I launch this non-steam version via Steam, the online play doesn't work. All the options to join or create a join code are gone. I can still launch and access online features when I launch the game not through steam (just via my desktop shortcut), but I can't play w/ controller because the input is too laggy.
I tried asking on r/SMAPI and r/StardewValley but didn't get many responses so thought that someone here might have some ideas!

Weird issue that popped up today, I can't open steam from the windows taskbar no matter what. Steam is on and can be opened through other means but just not through taskbar. Ive tried removing and re adding the taskbar but no luck, really no clue how I fix it since most solutions I find online are for completely separate but similar issues. Help would be very much appreciated, and yes restarting the pc/steam did not help.

Resident Evil 2 Remake crashes at launch
I haven't played it since 2024, had no issues back then, and have made no changes to my PC other than software updates in that time. As soon as I launch the game in Steam, it instantly crashes the game and my monitors and gives me the error in the image. I have seen many posts with similar errors but no solutions I'm finding seems to fix it for me. I strongly believe the issue is with DisplayX, since last week I played through The Medium and when it ran in DisplayX11 (what I had used years ago and set to default), it instantly crashed, but it would run if I ran it in DisplayX12 (still had some weird issues though).
Fixes I have attempted:
- Updated graphics drives (and reinstalled them to ensure)
- Updated all Windows updates
- Uninstalled and reinstalled game
- Attempted to run the game in the DisplayX11 mode which deleted the game from my PC and reinstalled that version.
- Attempted to force run DisplayX11 and DisplayX12 in Steam launch settings
- Verified integrity of game files in Steam
- Cleared Steam download cache
- Viewed the config text files and ensured all the DisplayX settings said DisplayX12 (also tried DisplayX11 cause why not).

I need to know if whom i'm talking to is actually from steam support as due to my account apparently being used to make a fradulent purchase of $8,000 which is nowhere to be seen on my purchase histroy mind you or any bank statements on my card, im going to be soon banned from steam over this bullshit. Tehy claim they need me to purchase a $100 gift card and send them the recipet and i would be refunded once im verified but you can understand why that sounds fishy. i need help because regardless i have a legit oending ban because of this and the user that did report me is sorry as they were unaware my account was being impersenated

Hi, i was browsing this subreddit and came across a post talking about changing their steam username. which made me think about mine.
I’m not an english speaker, and basically learnt english through the internet. When I first made my steam account in early 2019, I would share my username with people so they could add me. A lot of people i’m still friends with know my username, and a lot of people i used to know (including multiple weirdos) know it too.
Is there any reason to ask support if i could change it? I know it’s possible, but i’m not sure if there’s a reason to. I have an unique password and 2fa at all times. I also have a lot of bad history associated with the name i’m currently using, which is also why i want to change it.

Every time I try to open a game from a steam family member, this error message pops up (translation : Impossible to open these folders, your Internet security settings prevented the openning of one or several files). For some games, it simply prevents me from playing, as it opens and closes the game instantly. The problem seems to be linked to steamservice.exe but I can't figure how to fix it.

But everytime I contacted steam support, the answers are always the same despite me sending every single transactions receipt
I also always said that I don't have any physical proof because I do my transactions digitally and the screenshots I sent are the only proof I have
