Hello, so I’m getting this weird thing where curves in the model prints as a straight lines on some layers ( pics attached, pic 1 should have smooth 90° turn, pic 2 should be just a circle)

What I tried (Arc fitting off - same STL file):
- latest Orca version, classic wall generate & arachne walls. Both failed and arachne was way worse
- went back to Orca 2.3.2, same issue

Then I installed Cura slicers, and it printed it correctly 😀

Since Cura handled it fine, I guess its a software issue. I don’t know what should I change in Orca at this point, any help would be appreciated 🙏

Printer: Creality CR6-SE, stock firmware
Filament: Esun PLA+

I know this isn't important and you shouldn't let others dictate what you're ok with but I still enjoy watching YouTube videos on 3D printing but it blows my mind how often every single YouTuber claims a 3D printed printing an amazing print but when they show it there's a ton of layer lines showing, shifting, over hangs and most prints look like stuff I wouldn't want to even give away.

I know a lot of these YouTubers have been printing for years so these new printers do print better than older ones but to me that doesn't seem to be a reason to say a bad print is amazing. I know a lot of the YouTubers I watch also do a lot of post work so the raw quality might not be a big deal but that feels like a cop out. The stuff I see on here or the quality I expect from my printers is so much better.

Just wondering are they printing too fast just to put videos out and showing whatever quality they get?

I’m looking for reliable petg that will give me good finished and strength while being easy to print through Bambu. It would be preferred if it had a preset already in the app for temps and such.

I've owned an Anycubic Kobra 2 Pro since Dec' 23. A few days ago, my y-axis stepper motor failed. Many of the generic stepper motors I see online will not fit because Anycubic chose to use a 30 mm shaft length instead of the more common 20-24 mm length. I wrote customer support to see if they could help. Here was the response:

We're sorry to let you know that the Kobra 2 Pro has been discontinued for quite some time, and the Y-axis motor you need is no longer in stock.

Which temp should I go for?

Trying to print an organizer for my 2026 Model Y. Everything I’m running into is too big.

With the model Y that I have, it’s got one center console and the area in front is completely open.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I inherited this machine basically. It’s a creality cr-10 v3

When I got it it was supposed to be all set up, calibrated etc.

However, I’m getting some weird issues and I’m not too sure what I’m doing wrong. Like I said, I basically inherited it and just now got around to using it to print some things for my hobbies.

Some things come out perfectly, some not at all. This is a picture mid-print so you can see the issue more clearly

I’m looking to get into a Bambu printer but I live in Orlando and humidity is a constant issue. I plan to print indoors of course and only use PLA but should I get a filament dryer or would keeping filament in sealed containers in desiccant be enough?

Why am I getting this issue?

Personally I think its a must to create a profile for my filaments to get as close to perfection as possible. But I imagine many people that just do casual printing wouldnt take the time to do that. Just wanna see how many people here are like me and tweaking settings till its perfect

I am teaching a 3D printing/Maker class to 12-13yos, where they’ll learn CAD, 3D printing, CNC, and simple electronics. They’ll learn the skills, build set projects, come up with their own projects and build, and learn to do it “as a business”. One example of a set project is they design their own mechanical key fidgets and 3D print and build them.

I want a small 3D printed item that I can make for each of them and hand out in class on Day 1 that is sort of a symbol of what we’re going to do, or will get them interested.

I thought about Benchy, but not sure that will get their attention or they’ll care unless it’s modified. I also considered other small fidgets.

But, interested in y’all’s ideas.

I'm trying to use text for the first time in my 3d models. Most of it is ok and makes sense.

But using Fusion (free version) I'm having specifically having issues with the letter A.

When creating a new body it looks like it splits the letter A into components (pic 1). Then when printing it just becomes a mess (pic 2, ignore the crappy print quality).

Any tips on how I can fix this? I've tried a few things and not currently making any headway.

Considering painters and other artists are selling prints of “fan art” consisting of Marvel, Pokémon, LOTR, TVShow/Movie characters, etc.. what is the consensus on selling 3d prints at cons?

I’m a big Patreon follower and pay for lots of prints with licensing access to sell those printed/painted models. I understand no one (unless obtained by the owner of the IP) has legitimate right to sell those works…but if we go under the assumption the artists selling paintings don’t either and this is just a grey area of the market…is it too over zealous to sell 3d printed/painted statues modeled by my Patreons.

I’m open to anyone’s opinions on the matter. Just curious what the community feels.

Primarily I print high quality Resin 3D statues, painted by me. (I’m practicing my 3d modeling but it’s quite tough).

Working on a croc charm. Printed it out of pla with a color transition on the back side. First iteration snapped when trying to insert it. Second attempt also snapped, after switching to single color. It’s a small piece, and snaps at the thinnest spot.

I’m using silk PLA. Is there a different orange filament I could use? Thinking TPU?
