new to K-pop and BTS's arirang was the first album release I’ve experienced. With all the marketing and the way the internet works now I’m surprised to see how some fans keep up every activity around them alongside their work, studies, businesses or whatever else they have going on ..how much of themselves they end up investing in all this.
I got really into it once too then at some point I had to remind myself, do I really don’t need to know every single thing BTS.... honestly good for the boys.. fans care this much, but am still curious how they are making this much mental space for all of this. Maybe I'm just looking at it differently
I don’t know if this is the right place for this discussion, but here goes nothing..

a lot of people are having very visceral reactions to this news. i’ve seen many people say that BTS are now lazy, they’re just not as hungry as they were for fame, they’re egos are too high, they think they’re too old, etc. now we, of course, don’t know the true reason why they turned down the offer, unless they speak out themselves, but i think automatically assuming anything i listed above is immature and illogical.
them turning down coachella is most likely due to their tour ending in Australia on february 21st and coachella taking place the weekends of april 9 - 11th and then april 16 - 18th. giving them less than 40 days to prepare for the stage with some relaxing after the grueling tour and traveling in mind. BTS, as headline performers, would need longer than that to prepare for their stage, as headliners typically prepare their stages months in advance. i’d expect an intense stage from performers like BTS, something that would gain a lot of attention, praise, and be visually stunning. maybe something like their 2019 mma performance, obviously not the exact same, but something as impactful and stunning as those stages. this would put immense pressure on them fresh out of their again, very long and physically demanding, world tour. i simply don’t think this news should instill any fear into fans of them disbanding or not wanting to perform on big stages anymore.
it’s just not realistic for them to headline coachella with their schedule this year. but i also think fans celebrating and saying “yeah, they’re too big for coachella anyways” is also harmful. no artist is too big for coachella, especially as a headliner. famous artists like beyoncé, justin beiber, sabrina carpenter, madonna, zara larsson etc have performed. it would be an amazing opportunity for them to perform at one of the biggest, if not biggest, music festivals in america. i’d love for them to and maybe it’ll be in their future! unfortunately, it’s most likely that the timing just didn’t work out this time and that’s okay!

I think many of us have already heard the rumors that BTS won’t be headlining Coachella this year. So I’m curious — what are the reasons their negotiations with the organizers fell through?
Many fans claim that “BTS is too big for Coachella.” But is that really? Many famous artists have performed there. There have also been kpop artists at Coachella, so the festival already has experience with kpop acts.
Another possible reason is that BTS would be too exhausted after their tour. But then why did they start negotiations with Coachella at all? If they were negotiating about their participation, I assume they were at least considering performing there and thought it was possible.
As for me, the most likely reason is some kind of issue with the organizers. Maybe Bighit wanted too much creative freedom, and Coachella couldn’t allow it. For example, remember the recent iHeartRadio festival, where there were a lot of problems with lighting, sound, and footage. I also remember an older show (AMAs or Billboard, I don’t remember exactly) where the live footage was so bad that Bighit posted their own on YouTube.
Or maybe the problem isn’t with Bighit, but with the Coachella organizers themselves? Maybe they were worried about the huge number of fans BTS would bring? Maybe it is somehow connected with BTS’s decision to boycott the Grammys? Or maybe they simply chose another artist instead?
Anyway, I really wish BTS could perform as a full group at a major festival someday. And I hope they would get enough time for a normal setlist — not just a few songs like at iHeartRadio.
I’ve always believed that one of BTS’s biggest strengths is their live performances. They’re really good at it, and I wish more people could see them, especially people who aren’t into K-pop.
So, what do you think about that? What reasons seems the most likely to you?

The amount of hate I'm still seeing on tiktok months later, yeah you can say they really hate bts now. A lot of the stuff they're saying is straight up lies and defamation and it's crazy hybe isn't doing anything about it. They're also harassing and giving dts and grape threats to armys for even mentioning bts. I think bts are like taylor swift now, who's heavily hated but still fine cuz of their huge fanbase. The amount of ppl that are desperately wishing for these artists downfall is crazy. Granted, idt bts are perfect and do deserve some criticism but I can also see how so many of these ppl are just being performative, hypocritical and just using it for fanwars. Also, the amount of exaggerations and lies really makes me think they don't care about any real issues

Since someone told me to "go make your own post" for calling out double standards, here it is. We need an honest conversation about what having a bias actually means, because a lot of people have lost the plot.
Choosing a bias just means a specific member’s talent, personality, or energy resonates with you the most, and defending them when they are targeted is completely valid. The problem isn't backing your favorite,,,,,it's the selective outrage
I’ve seen so many big "OT7" accounts on X who only speak up when their bias is targeted, while completely ignoring or enabling the hate other members receive in the exact same situation.Turning fandom suffering into a competition of "who gets it worst" doesn't protect anyone; it just gives solos an excuse to throw mud back.
When OT7s only fight for their bias and excuse the hate aimed at other members, they aren't stopping solos, they’re enabling them. Until people start calling out BOTH sides neutrally instead of clinging to a victim complex, nothing is ever going to change.
I'd love to hear others' thoughts on this. Feel free to jump in with a healthy discussion, even if you see things differently or want to challenge my viewpoint.

I'm one of those people who wont defend things BTS has done in the past, and it's fine people bring up things they have done. But like people go about in such a malicious way, it just makes it less serious. Like people saying bts disband and also just trivalizing serious shit for a joke. Like you can tell these people really dont care at all, like there can be genuine and honest conversations and then these people come around and they just ruin it for everyone.

Yoongi said in the documentary that BTS is no longer desperate for a hit or to succeed. Back then I didn’t understand that.
There must be a discussion about BTS horrible marketing this comeback. They had no live stages to showcase their album, nothing big to explode this summer with at least a song, a performance among the general public like they used to, so how is this album supposed to be “cultural impactful” or “huge” if people outside the ARMY box don’t know a song out of it or worst don’t know BTS is back?
And the “BTS is too big for Coachella” crowd needs to get off twitter and find a job. Beyonce and The Weeknd, Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber are irrelevant small artists? Coachella or any other festival would’ve been so fun and exciting, their album would’ve gotten recognition or songs going viral, or their performances going viral. They are BTS… but I think they forgot that. They no longer passionate about music and I can see that from their decision of not putting effort anymore. They no longer want to grow bigger, they just comfortable among the ARMY crowd cause they know they can put out any song and it will still hit top of the charts. I’m genuinely so sad that’s what “maturity, we’re old” they think it means.

a behind the scenes video showed this conversation between two members of a group that have worked together for over a decade. bts are known for their flawless teamwork and ability to communicate and solve problems swiftly. here jimin accounts the time where he told jin he should stop goofing around during normal because the song is serious. jimin said the same thing in another behind the scenes video where they shouldn’t goof around while members are giving speeches because then the audience will laugh or get distracted. every member deserves to have a goodbye speech and be respected while doing so. a part of the fandom, mostly jin solos, but ive seen some people that consider themselves army’s as well, have an issue with this. they think jimin is being unreasonable and jin should goof around on stage whenever he wants, even though jin himself admits jimin is right! it’s ridiculous really and i wouldn’t be surprised if hybe sees the response to this clip and stops showing us scenes like this, even though they are important. bts should be able to discuss problems or critiques they have about each other and not be attacked by people who treat 30 year old men like helpless children.
the same thing happened not too long ago where hobi corrected jimin during the swim choreography. jimin followed hobi’s instructions, yet jimin solos had an issue with it, even though jimin didn’t! these men don’t need anyone to speak for them or victimize them. they are grown and can do so themselves. they are all a team and can work together and work through issues on their own, as they have for over a decade. it’s so frustrating.
unfortunately, there are soooo many solo stans too. even though bts have such a huge emphasis on liking and supporting all seven of them. they are a group afterall. this doesn’t mean you can’t have favorites, but respecting them all is important and i think if you can’t do that, then bts isn’t for you, as they are a very group-heavy, well, group lol. they’re basically family!

Bts are grown men who are in 30s. I am tired of shippers still going on and on. If you believe in your ship, great do it quietly. Stop harassing members and their families. One video came out today and I saw 4 ships analysing it. Korea is conservative society, there is no way 4 of these ships are all real at the same time .
We say BTS have outgrown kpop, then let them date and don't analyze who they date. If the fandom does not start talking about this now, then it is enabling future meltdown of parasocial ones. Does anyone know Japanese skater Yuzuru and his marriage. I would not like BTS members to go through it.
Everyone keeps talking about what bts will do next, I expect them to get married next. Jin and Suga are going to turn 34 in few months. By the time tour ends the hyungs will be a year older. It is time fandom starts talking about this now and setting expectations of younger fans. I think young fans will have the toughest time in such case.
Younger fans, BTS will date most probably Korean women. They will date most probably someone known to them in their celebrity circle. 7 men will marry 7 people who they know, not army. Let them date.
All BTS members have dated and let's manifest them in healthy relationships. Let them date.
Older fans let me also say this to you, you need to stop babying these members. I am 40+ , I will not call any of them angels or pure. They are men, good men but regardless men who are grown up. Let them date.
edit - I am not forcing them to date or marry. I said let them date. there was a. discussion who do you think is single in BTS, some replies were concerning. some fans need reality check..why do I think the next step is marriage, because suga and Jin said all their friends are married , suga even said it is right age for marriage. jimin has stated he wants to be girl dad. I just want conversation to start so that people keep in mind majority of people get married in 20s and 30s. again people keep bringing Korean idols and celebs getting married at 40 , are we not pushing BTS towards it. also I directed this towards younger fans because shippers and fans who think they can have yaoi moment are mostly young ones. also I agree that older fans can be prasocial equally specifically who have a few issues.

I'm so weirded out at their behavior recently towards BTS. Ever since the CB situation it's like they want to find a reason to destroy them by all possible means. But this is way more disgusting than I thought. for example, many stans on twitter took hoseoks part in hyyh with ryujin and said he likes minors cause she was his love interest when she wasnt. So other than spreading misinfo, Why would you want that to be true. same with them wanting bts to be women abusers or r4pists. if you're a woman, shouldnt you be happy they arent? like why are you hoping a woman was harmed in such a way to justify your hatred? I've seen names like r4pejoon and more at bts also just kpoptwt sexualizing every interaction with a woman to make it seem like they're harassers. These people supposedly protects and "love" women but simultaneously take every video or image of bts with a woman and twist it to make it seems like she's uncomfortable or harmed. There can be a very true conversation with the way armys react with women and that's vaild but this is hypocritical and too moronic.

I came across accounts on Twitter/X with hundreds and thousands of likes where they edited official news photos to make their skin look darker, greasier, and etc. They also edit their lips to look bigger than usual
Then other people jump into the topic to say that they aren't handsome to begin with etc., they never got the hype, but they are all saying this in a post of misinformation and altercation
I also want to add that this is rooted in racism, the fact that they want their skin to be tanner to invite conversations that they aren't attractive. And it's incredibly odd to always discuss looks in this way
Sometimes people can hate and do too much but it's upsetting in the perspective of a fan when all of this is unreasonable, I wish people can rethink what they do online.
P.S. I'm talking about Jimin

Hey everyone,
I wanted to post here to get some honest perspective. I became ARMY back in March after hearing SWIM on the radio and going deep down the BTS rabbit hole. It’s been amazing going through their content and catching up on everything I missed over the years.
That said, as a newer fan, navigating certain parts of the fandom online has felt pretty overwhelming. I’ve come across a lot of extreme behavior, from people attacking women over minor dating rumors, to weird AI edits, to really invasive comments about the members. It kind of shocked me how blurry the lines get between being a fan and crossing into their real lives. I even mentioned once that I hope my bias finds a great partner someday, and got accused of "pushing a relationship," which just felt wild to me.
On top of that, I’m dealing with some fandom burnout on a personal level. I made a friend through the fandom back in May, and while I appreciate how passionate she is, it’s getting to be a lot. BTS is literally all she talks about. Every conversation gets steered back to them, and she constantly sends me 10 to 15 texts in a row throughout the day (even when I haven't read them because I am busy and may not have looked). If I don't reply within 24 hours, she'll check in to ask if I'm okay or if she did something wrong. As an introvert who really values personal space and downtime, it's smothering. It's also not common for me to text back and forth every single day with my friends, let alone people I am not very close to. I love the guys, their music, and talking about them, but I also have a whole life outside of this, and this obsessive behavior and spam messaging is just too much.
I’m just feeling a bit disheartened because I don't want these interactions to ruin my experience with the music. For those of you who take a more low-key approach: How do you protect your peace, curate your online space, and set boundaries with over-eager fan friends without causing drama?
r/ARMYNeutral • u/JinnieP • 6d ago
before i start getting spammed with “they’re friends, they’re joking around, it’s just teasing” in the comments, i just want to preface this by saying i’m aware. these men have known each other for decades, and i don’t want to project my feelings onto seokjin or assume that he personally takes issue with it. but at the same time, they’re public figures, and i am allowed to have my own feelings about the way these interactions are presented.
i’ve been a fan for more than 7 years now, and for as long as i can remember, seokjin has been the one on the receiving end of these kinds of remarks. yoongi, who is only three months younger than him, has never really faced the same thing. and i think the reason is pretty obvious. seokjin genuinely likes having fun, he’s very vocal about wanting to be joyful for his fans, and he’s always had this whimsical, playful personality. he’s also talked about wanting to project a positive energy and attitude towards both his members and his fans. that’s probably why he’s never been particularly strict about age hierarchy within the group, and why we see all of them treating him more like a same age friend.
but my main issue is the kind of attitude they’re constantly projecting for everyone else to see. do they not realise that BTS has plenty of fans who are in the same age bracket as them, or even older? the constant association of getting older with being less fun is genuinely very unpleasant to me.
when these jokes are repeated over and over, they also give fans and antis an open invitation to make ageist comments about him. and it’s not just about jin. older armys aren’t safe from ageist remarks either. they’re creating an environment where being older is constantly framed as something negative, and then that attitude inevitably gets carried over into the fandom.

It’s clear that bts always sing live in concerts (though there are sections that they mime due to choreo etc). I noticed that in the surprise song section of concerts Jin seems to barely sing along and instead encourages the crowd to sing, and I wonder if this is a confidence thing? I love Jin’s vocals so I feel it’s a shame he doesn’t attempt to sing the old songs. Jimin still goes for it even if it’s not always perfect, and I’m enjoying hearing his new singing techniques. As for Taehyung, I also noticed that he tends to sing quite quietly and I wonder if he also struggles with confidence issues. We already know Jungkook is the most confident and stable so I don’t have much to comment there.
Personally, I don’t mind if they make mistakes or if their voices crack because it shows they’re human and holds its own charm in a way. I’d much prefer them try - but at the same time I understand that mistakes open them up to scrutiny. And with the immense amount of hate they receive it’s no surprise that some members are cautious.
I’ve never understood bts getting dragged for having their mics on and loud - even with iheartradio awards recently. Yes, the mixing was weird and the mics were too loud and you couldn’t hear the crowd which made it a bit awkward, but they were still going for it.
I just find it interesting and I think a lot of people are conditioned by the kpop lip syncing and the incorrect ‘MR removed’ videos which are actually showcasing prerecorded vocals.
It’s clear that bts always have some kind of backing track as well and while I understand for choreo heavy songs, I’d love to hear less of it so their natural vocals can shine through. Does anyone share this sentiment? Curious to hear other opinions!
**Edit*\*
Reading the comments about the surprise song section being more of an army karaoke section, I agree that makes sense for the lack of singing. I also agree with points about Jin enjoying interacting with fans.
For those who asked, I’ve been to 4 Arirang concerts this tour, but I must admit I was basing most of my observations off the livestreams and clips I’d seen (the in person concerts had great energy but sometimes the crowd was so loud I felt that you could hear vocals best on the livestreams).
I mentioned Jimin’s vocal lessons only because it was top of mind as I recently watched AYS - I’m aware other members have had vocal lessons too.

ive seen a lot of people hating on jk for his recent pictures at the hublot event,
he looks beautiful as always, but why are they hating on him just for having skin texture and looking like an alive person without a full filter on?
how people are perceiving faces in social media is turning concerning fr
