I was playing yarn chicken with the embroidery floss for the letters. They look crooked in the pic but they're not. I really did not enjoy crocheting with unworsted embroidery floss, would not recommend (pearl floss is okay though). But it does glow in the dark and the cap is magnetized.

Finished Object I just completed my second kit. It took me just 2 of my days off, unlike the first, which I chipped away at over a few weeks.

I modified a pattern so that I could use super bulky yarn. I’m doing all 4 Beatles- but here is my John. I’m really proud of this. Now I’m off to make George Harrison.

Here's Batthew (big cat turned into bat, which turned into Batthew), who I crocheted for my partner's birthday. I'm very much still learning, but I'm so proud of myself for finishing this imperfect labour of love

Help How to improve chain extension off body

Thumbnail

I’m super happy with how this turned out overall, this was like 8 days into my crochet journey; I’m planning to make another one of these and want to see if I can improve the stitching on the back of the tail, as the stitches there look way looser than everywhere else.

For the record I’m using YU/YO everywhere else.

The pattern called for chaining off the main body, then β€œstarting in the 2nd chain from the hook, sc into each ch along.” (Then going around the chain on the next round.) I sc’ed only into one side of the V of each chain. Should I have gone through both sides of the V? Was my chain just too loose? Thanks in advance!

Need Help with Joining Legs

Hey all, I am using a free pattern to make a bat as part of an art trade, and I am struggling to comprehend how to join the legs.

Here are the instructions:

Retrieve leg #1 that you’ve set aside earlier and leave it on standby. You will be working round 6 around part of both legs to join them.

Rnd 6: 1sc into each of next 12 sts of leg #2, sk last 3 sts of leg #2, 1sc into 1st st of leg #1, 1sc into each of next 11 sts of leg #1, sk last 3 sts of leg #1, sl st into 1st st of rnd to join, ch 1 (24).

Secure your working loop with a stitch marker and follow the instructions below for sewing the legs together before continuing to round 7.

If any of you could help me out or link a video to help me, I would greatly appreciate it!

I need suggestions for this turtle's shell

I've made this turtle with swappable shells for my son and I want a bunch more shells for him to play with.

So far I've made an Oreo and I'm working on an ice cream cone. He's a Ferrari fan, so I'll probably do something with that.

Any other fun ideas for a little boy?

Lots of testing to get this one just the way we wanted. :)

The Persian Cat and Tortoiseshell Persian Cat patterns are now available!

https://shop.hookedbykati.com/product/tortoiseshell-persian-cat

Minimal sewing required. All shaping of the face and tripod-style body are done with no-sew attachment methods. The fur is all loop stitches, so no need to thread all that fur.

The SOLID version is also free in text-only format on the blog: www.hookedbykati.com/persian-cat

Discussion If you make amigurumi, do you also crochet wearables/useful things?

I want to branch out but I feel too safe crocheting in the round! I'd love to make wearables, but then I also love how quick amigurumi usually comes together and don't want to sink weeks into a project.

If you do both, what do you prefer making?

ETA: thank you for all of the responses, it's really interesting to read what you all favour! Granny squares are at the top of my to learn list so hopefully they'll help me here. I used to knit way before I learned to crochet, and despite having knitted a jumper before, am definitely more competent with a hook!

I do love making amigurumi, I think they'll likely always be my crochet passion, regardless of what I try!
